NB I have never used kids club on holiday but will happily let kids go to childminder if I have a random day off so I can have some time to myself. I am clearly an awful parent

Chestervase1 · 14/05/2017 19:54

Hollyisaloveltname you don't sound holier than thou most British parents like to spend time with their children on holiday and don't behave like that. There are exceptions though. If you normally have a nanny for your children just take her on holiday with you. The children aren't suddenly going to start looking after themselves.

Ceto · 14/05/2017 19:54

Anyway, not anything.

NameyMcNameChangeChange · 14/05/2017 19:55

Was the kids club included in the price of the holiday? If so I can understand why they used it daily. It would feel very alien to me to do that, but there are lots of different parenting styles so I don't think you can hold the fact they used the kids club against them. The leaving at night, I think we're all agreed on that so let's move on.

susanboozan · 14/05/2017 19:56

The way things descend into personal attacks here is unreal.

Seems that no view is accepted without that.

Can people not comment without being personally vitriolic.

susanboozan · 14/05/2017 19:59

@ RafaIsTheKingOfClay

The report button will be in overdrive very soon methinks.

Ceto · 14/05/2017 20:00

Given your own rather nasty attacks on parents who have been and are still going through hell, susan, I don't think you are in a position to claim to be sensitive about it.

NameyMcNameChangeChange · 14/05/2017 20:00

Shame, it's a long thread now. Personal attacks are derailing and spoil discussion.

AntigoneJones · 14/05/2017 20:02

it's a bit late for a bitchfest on this topic isn't it really? like 10 years too late?
Once I was in Greece with my children and went upstairs when they were sleeping to have sex with someone and then fell asleep and when I got back to the room in the very early morning they had gone. They had run down the road in a panic. Luckily I found them very quickly.

susanboozan · 14/05/2017 20:03

Ceto.

Quote me and take the stand I say!

LillianGish · 14/05/2017 20:36

I'm no longer following the logic of many of the posters on this thread. Even if they left the children alone it doesn't entitle an intruder to break in and abduct a child, likewise if she wandered out looking for her parents it doesn't entitle a passerby to take her off or if she was knocked down by a motorist it doesn't entitle that motorist to cover up what happened. How could anyone seriously ask who is to blame?Phone reception and report your concerns by all means if you hear the children crying, take Madeleine to the resort reception if she was found wandering in the street, call the police if she was involved in an accident. It's true to say she was unlikely to have gone missing if her parents had been there, but someone else has committed a much more heinous crime here and got off scot free - unlike the Mcanns who will continue to pay the price for the rest of their lives.

TheFirstMrsDV · 14/05/2017 20:41

anon my dd died 11 years ago but I haven't starved to death.
Probably don't love her enough.
Not properly.

susanboozan · 14/05/2017 20:52

@LillianGish,

Fortunately or unfortunately there is no proof of any external force being responsible for the disappearance of Madeleine is there?

No abduction proof, no murder proof (let's be straight here), no accidental death proof. No nothing, except the child is gone.

We can talk all we like, that is the reality. That is why it is such a mystery.

LillianGish · 14/05/2017 21:37

She didn't just disappear into thin air though did she? Someone knows where she is - alive or dead - and that is the person who deserves our vilification.

Styturnip · 14/05/2017 21:40

Fortunately or unfortunately there is no proof of any external force being responsible for the disappearance of Madeleine is there?

How could it ever be fortunately?
Really?
Your posts have a horribly sinister undertone Susan. I feel sorry for you

susanboozan · 14/05/2017 21:51

@Styturnip,

it would be fortunate if nothing sinister had happened NO? We just do not know.

Please desist from being so judgy. It is not necessary. Thanks so much.

Styturnip · 14/05/2017 21:54

I will desist from lmao at the irony of your post susan

Styturnip · 14/05/2017 21:54

However unintended

Gillit · 14/05/2017 22:24

Does anyone know if Clement Freud (the paedophile, not Siggy) was ever investigated over the disappearance?

anon1987 · 14/05/2017 22:49

Nobody is saying that they deserved it, no body is saying it's anybody's fault besides the abductor.

Just because someone mentions the fact that the McCanns were neglectful towards their children, does not mean we don't feel for them, doesn't mean that we don't stand by them in their search for Madeleine!

For some reason a few of my posts have been deleted. Not one of my posts were worthy of reporting.
The topics and issues I raised are valid, and I stand by my right to point out the obvious.

To the poster below me, I don't believe he was fully investigated?
I think it's more likely to be a random stranger then man who invited them to dinner after her disappearance.

susanboozan · 14/05/2017 23:02

Where is the evidence of this abductor?

Must have missed that one.

SadieTheNurse · 14/05/2017 23:05

She may have 'disappeared into thin air' think it's way more likely she went to look for her parents and fell down a well or something Sad
Abduction just seems so unlikely. The McCann's didn't help by insisting it was abduction from the start & not willing to consider anything elseConfused
How they defend themselves by saying it was normal to leave kids so young alone I think gets peoples backs up. You'd be eaten alive with guilt wouldn't you?

pigeonsplats · 14/05/2017 23:07

One of the things i've often wondered about is, why the tapas nine refused to do a reconstruction, when it's known that reconstructions are something that police say are so important. I mean why wouldn't they do it, you'd think they'd have wanted to, and all this talk of a pact.....

MissShittyBennet · 15/05/2017 07:33

We really need to declare a moratorium on ... this thread. It's so very tired.

LillianGish · 15/05/2017 08:03

She may have 'disappeared into thin air' think it's way more likely she went to look for her parents and fell down a well or something I think if she had wandered off - which I agree seems the most likely scenario - and there had been an innocent explanation she would have been found. How far could a three-year-old get in that short time under her own steam? Whatever the inadequacies of the Portuguese investigation in the immediate aftermath, I'm pretty sure there was a thorough search of the resort.
