Mother of God - it's the final LOD! Watch as Roz Buckells up for the ride-has she managed to Lakewell enough to uncover Big Fella H with no reciprocity?

OutToGetYou I think the timings have all been confirmed by CCTV.

Giddyaunt18 · 01/05/2017 14:08

Why was RH so keen to nail Farmer though? To go to the extent of seeking out Ifield at his flat ? Haven't read who thread yet.

OutToGetYou · 01/05/2017 14:08

No tribot - Ifield at B&Q and Nick's travel to the flat are confirmed by CCTV, but nothing of Roz's movements are.

She took her car, but parked and then walked to a cab co, a cabco employee vaguely recalls a woman with dark skin coming in but no more. And no evidence of when she left, or how. Only Nick can confirm when she left home and he followed her, he went home before she did. But....that's hardly reliable evidence as he is her husband (and also a suspect).

I agree that this will become clearer in the next series, like the Denton case went over two series' - you don't ditch a major actor like TN after one series!

Giddyaunt18 · 01/05/2017 14:09

whole not who!

OutToGetYou · 01/05/2017 14:12

Giddy - she wasn't framing him, she believed all the evidence. It wasn't her whop set it up, it was the gang and Hilton was in on it, hence telling her that stuff about 'the truth'. And hence him keeping her on it while she was playing ball with keeping Farmer as the accused.

But she realised she'd got it wrong when she saw the biometrics. Then she found out her husband (who she knew was also out the night she killed Ifield) had lied about his whereabouts the night Leonie was murdered, so she then started to wonder if it was him.

Giddyaunt18 · 01/05/2017 14:13

She didn't seem to want to consider anyone else though, before visiting Ifield .

Giddyaunt18 · 01/05/2017 14:17

I am so bereft I think I might watch the whole series again anyway just to be sure. Wink

OutToGetYou · 01/05/2017 14:19

No, because she was under considerable pressure from Hilton, for his own reasons, but for her it was a 'show them I'm good enough' decision.

She's fallible, that's the point of all the series.

raspberrysuicide · 01/05/2017 14:22

Did anyone mention that Nick Huntley seemed a really weak and pathetic character. The way he kept calling Steve Arnold and when Roz slapped him round the face and he cried. I can't decide whether he would have been too pathetic to kill anyone or if he did it because he finally had some control over women.

OutToGetYou · 01/05/2017 14:28

I think Nick is in the pockets of the gang, but not necessarily a murderer himself.

Giddyaunt18 · 01/05/2017 14:32

Please remind me why ac12 were first looking into RH? I'm useless.

OutToGetYou · 01/05/2017 14:33

Ifield reported her due to the jewellery not having the local fibres on, just the DNA of the victims.

Giddyaunt18 · 01/05/2017 14:37

Oh yeah thanks out you should be a detective!

OutToGetYou · 01/05/2017 14:41

I may have watched every episode (except last night's - just finishing the whole series of Green Wing currently) several times!

Giddyaunt18 · 01/05/2017 14:47
Wink
NoWordForFluffy · 01/05/2017 16:18

Arghh...back to the standard 2 year gap between series (1 year is an anomaly). Bastards!

Fizzingwhizbees · 01/05/2017 19:35

Do we reckon we're going to meet this Paul Haleton next series then? He was on both the board of potential 'H's and on Danny Waldron's list, can't see that being a continuity error...

Figgygal · 01/05/2017 19:42

Wow such conspiracy theories I think nick isn't involved in anything personally.

Fizzingwhizbees · 01/05/2017 19:43

There's also a 'Roger Hyde-Albert' on Danny's list and a 'Superintendent Susan Hyde-Albert' on the board. Either Jed ran out of names beginning with H or Sands View will be coming back in a big way. I can't believe I have 2 whole years to tie myself up in knots over this show Grin

MarilynWhirlwindRocks · 01/05/2017 20:16

sluj flagged up LovelyManeet interview on this morning's BBC Breakfast. For those who missed it:

www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b08nwwhc/breakfast-01052017

(begins @ approx 2hrs 52 in).

  • PPs upthread suggested that the "H" exerting such influence and control down the chain may in fact be outside the actual police, but very hand-in-glove with them...so I agree that politicians seem the likeliest.

Establishment scandal cover-ups/ mutual exchanging of favours between (rogue elements within) 2 authorities supposedly looking after our best interests etc. are the likely focus of series 5, IMO.

  • Jed M. has publicly said he also intends to explore the regular characters' private lives more, so I'm assuming we may also get our Maneet explanation then (still think that only threats to her DH/ older child would force her to behave as she did).

Enrique, Whywait,
Ankle injury is being referred to by DP as a "Roz Huntley Graze".
No sign of sepsis or need for amputation as yet.
Truly incredible how the poor lamb's adapted to managing anything pleasurable (e.g. limping to our local), yet has mysterious inability to cope with dull chores Hmm

Ferrisday · 01/05/2017 20:44

The H that they were looking for is Hilton.
I didn't really believe it because I thought he was too weak, but he's not the top dog, like Lakewell says, he's having his strings pulled by the bad guys. "Why do you think he craps himself every time a body is found?"
H lived in fear of them, he isn't the scary one. He's just doing their bidding (cover ups, etc) because he knows they can successfully frame him.
He's the H that Dot referred to, that was pulling Dot's strings. He promoted Dot. He championed him through.
Ros proved the link from lakewell to H to Balaclava men.

Not saying there aren't other corrupt officers, but he's H

Ceto · 01/05/2017 23:58

It seemed pretty clear at the end that H was not Hilton - he clearly wasn't in charge, and I thought at the end Ted made it clear they were still looking for H.

Ferrisday · 02/05/2017 01:47

? Ted said
I'm convinced that H is Hilton, take my photo down from there.

elkegel · 02/05/2017 06:40

On a legal note, self defence isn't an allowable plea.

I've no idea what you mean by an "allowable plea". Self defence is a complete defence to murder, as is insanity - though only in the case of the former would you walk free from court.

Provocation and diminished responsibility are partial defences which can reduce murder to manslaughter, so I guess Ros made a successful plea of one of those.

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 02/05/2017 07:01

OK,legal eagles , so that is actually what I meant ; I meant that if there was sufficient evidence of self defence she would not be charged/ be cleared, rather than pleading guilty to manslaughter . Some people think that manslaughter is murder with self defence. I know what I meant... I stand corrected.

I still think she was economical with the truth anyway - but hat part of the plot stretches all credibility as it is, I guess!
