For what its worth, I think Jodie is Roz's partner in clean up op. I think Jamie may have been planted from another AC department. We can't have seen last of him.

I have to keep telling myself this is fiction. Conversations have to be kept short, dialogue has to be fitted in, scenes/faces have to convey more in a minute than they would normally do in an hour in RL.

Brilliant writing and acting - thank you Dr Mercurio and team for giving us TV that makes you think. Or overthink in my case.

wowfudge · 26/04/2017 10:13

Someone is watching you is not about Kate. There's someone else keeping a beady eye on Roz for the crims.

Ferrisday · 26/04/2017 10:15

I'm trying to figure some scenario where Jamie not protesting his innocence is part of another plot to get him to AC9 where he can be undercover for AC12
I think Maneet is good, Jamie is good (maybe with some other motives)
Rewatching series 1 today

DubiousCredentials · 26/04/2017 10:32

wowfudge yes I think so too.

SapphireStrange · 26/04/2017 10:54

Jodie was spying on Ifield long before Kate went. Was she? I don't remember that. Confused And do you mean before Roz went?

Something a bit off about the way Hana was so calm, that she was interviewed standing up after having been abducted, knocked over and rescued from a burning house. And that the interview was filmed before Hana was finally taken off to hospital. I keep thinking about this. I really hope Hana is deeply involved, otherwise all that doesn't ring true.

But how did JamieDnot... not immediately say that he'd given login details to Maneet? He was VERY quick to demand a transfer and flounce, wasn't he? I can't work out why, unless he knew that Maneet asking for his log-in was dubious, and went along with it to see what would happen, knowing/suspecting that it would be further evidence of corruption.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 26/04/2017 11:13

Wow this thread is getting more complicated than the programme Grin

Well, I'm going to make that worse now, what if the reason that Jamie flounced so quickly is because he was at AC-12 as an undercover operative Grin and his leaking of his log in was a deliberate trap? Hmm

I don't think Jimmy the lawyer is a BM by the way, I think he's too slimy to get his own hands dirty in that way.

I've caved and watched the trailer and the clip from the final episode and now I can't wait even more. Four more sleeps! Grin But when it's finished, I'll be bereft, although I suppose we'll need another thread for our debriefing of the whole series.

Fizzingwhizbees · 26/04/2017 11:21

In episode 1 Jodie told Roz about Tim checking out forensic reports about the black fibres (or lack of) on Michael Farmer's clothing after Roz requested them reexamined- I think before Kate really started digging.

Jamie is bothering me as well. Ted, Steve and Kate had been slightly dismissive of him because his work had been a bit sloppy but I'm not sure it warranted the flounce. Kate was hardly wrong to point out that his user details were the ones used for the download. I wonder if there's something else going on with that transfer or if he was just too angry at the time to rationally connect the dots with Maneet asking for his details.

SapphireStrange · 26/04/2017 11:37

OK, thanks Fizzing.

Enrique, is there a clip as well as the trailer? Where is it?

OutToGetYou · 26/04/2017 11:52

And obviously he'd mention the phoney password reset thing too.

I don't know if he knew it was phoney though - if a colleague said to me 'oh, IT have said we've all got to reset our passwords again' I'd just do it (well, I wouldn't actually, as my job would make me question that, but in any other job...) and forget about it. Even if I remembered I doubt I'd link it to someone setting me up to steal data, or certainly not on the spot I wouldn't.

But it beggars belief that Hastings would not look further into that, them being police and all - he'd have checked who was in at that time, he'd have asked everyone if they had seen anything, he'd ask JnJ if it was him and watch his reaction which would then give JnJ time to think about whether anyone else could have accessed via his log-on and remember what he was doing that day.

I also agree that old closed top secret files would not simply be on his drive, especially as he is new.

ktel1 · 26/04/2017 11:56

In one episode Maneet gave Jamie a contemptuous look.

She had just given him a file before he went in to conduct an interview with Ted.

He didn't see it- she was always very friendly to his face.

FeralBeryl · 26/04/2017 11:57

Yep I think that Jamie was planted in order for Naneet to 'frame' him and then flounce as soon as he got wind of being found out.
They didn't want to use Maneet's login as they need her in the department.

But to what ends?

ktel1 · 26/04/2017 11:57

Reagarding the password reset- I don't think Jamie actually gave the post with the new password to Maneet- she just looked over his shoulder.

Ferrisday · 26/04/2017 11:59

Re Maneet- Hastings will have been suspicious when she left, he will have checked her recent work and cross referenced logins and access to the building and figured it was Maneet. He will then find out why/how she is being pressurised.
Although Hastings doesn't usually work things out for himself, his investigators do Confused

Ferrisday · 26/04/2017 12:02

Ktel1
When Maneet was logging on with his details she had the post it note

ktel1 · 26/04/2017 12:09

One theory- Jamie is a good guy and working with Ted and aware that Maneet was reporting to Hilton.

I think that Ted is further along in his investigations into the corrupt officers that he has revealed.

VictoriaMcdade · 26/04/2017 12:11

The only problem with the lovely scene between Michael Farmer and his Nana, is that I kept thinking that she would call him Methadone Mick.

Mick not Michael

I'm sure another Still Game fan has pointed this out. Grin

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 26/04/2017 12:29

@SapphireStrange I'll go over to the spoiler thread and if it hasn't been posted, will put it in there.

CraicMammy · 26/04/2017 13:03

Right rolls up sleeves thanks to a new born baby and a very bad back, I've had a few days to come up with my theory of what the heck is going on, here it is!!

Ros's children are adopted, they witnessed a crime when they were little and have lived with her under Witness Protection ever since. Hence her career break when they were young, not babies. Jimmy Lakewell was the childrens' solicitor and knows the full situation. Nick Huntley was in prison at the time (possibly sex offences or money laundering) so wasn't around for the adoption and doesn't know why the kids are in WP.

Roz suspects Nick of involvement in deaths of Basminder and Leonie, and so, with assistance from Jimmy Lakewell they conspire to frame vulnerable Michael Farmer through the fake kidnap of Hana Reznikova. Balaclava Man is a red herring.

Tim Ifield had been secretly investigating Operation Trapdoor for sometime. He only officially joins the case with Hana's kidnap. TI dies when Roz tries to fight him off, and his jugular is nicked in by the saw in the scuffle. She calls in her kid's liaison at AC-9 to assist in the clean up and Tim's subsequent framing. The computer will have recorded her ringing the doorbell that's why she takes it, plus his fingers.

As AC-12 continue to investigate Roz, AC-9 plant JamienotJames undercover in the team. He is deliberately crap in the interview to protect Roz and undermine the investigation into her.

Hilton whilst slimy is not part of the clandestine group of corrupt police officers. He is aware of the full picture re witness protection of the children and the steps AC-9 have taken to protect them. He's unsure whether he can fully trust Ted with the whole truth because he is so black and white in his attitudes. Dot's dying declaration gives him ammo to remove Ted when he persists in investigating. Maneet has been told enough by Hilton to get her to feed him information from AC-12 directly, so he's not just relying on AC-9. I would bet that the Head of AC-9 also has a surname beginning H and Hilton is investigating them covertly too.

The post-it was left by an undercover AC-9 officer placed on the Trapdoor team. My money is on the uniformed PC who seems to see everything.

OK mumsnet, tell me what you think!

ktel1 · 26/04/2017 13:12

Craicmammy- Interesting points, I do think AC9.witness protection is key in this.

On another forum we were trying to work out if AC9 is a division of the major violent crime department.

Hargreaves is in charge of that department.

Dot was seconded to AC12 from AC9 at Dryden's suggestion.

Jamie was/is in AC9 and was involved in the Hunter investigation.

beargrass · 26/04/2017 13:23

Bloody hell craicmummy!! That's a lot to process. It's persuasive, definitely.

I am a bit stuck on Hilton being a baddie but as a PP noted with his 'facts vs truth' speech, perhaps you are onto something. Hmmm....

CopperRose · 26/04/2017 13:32

I am scared now that I'm going to be thoroughly let down with the actual proper ending & explanation.

All the theories on these threads are ace!
😂

CraicMammy · 26/04/2017 13:35

Yes, I think facts v truth is key this series, and that sometimes the truth can be a long way from what the evidence suggests.
