I purposely started another thread because people didn't want to discuss the trailer, which is now being discussed on here Confused now I'm having a hard time keeping up with everything!

SapphireStrange · 24/04/2017 15:29

I'm more and more convinced Roz's career break wasn't to start a family (or she DID have one to do so, then another for reasons we don't know yet).

I suspect she did something that the big bosses had to dig her out of. Hilton seems to feel that she owes him anyway, and she sounded pretty bitter when talking to Kate about having put her own needs aside to sort out other people's problems, although that wasn't how she phrased it I know.

MarilynWhirlwindRocks · 24/04/2017 15:32

DP's crackpot theory no64:
Arnott's natty waistcoats incorporate steel-like reinforcement (kind of like a stylish bullet-proof vest), which protected him from even worse staircase injury.

Uh-huh Hmm Grin

EmilyDickinson · 24/04/2017 15:38

I think that the hairbrush Roz used on Nick's jumper contained Tim's hair. The presence of mind required to not only sever the fingers of your just dead colleague, but also to brush their hair and keep the brush in a sealed bag just in case you need to frame someone else for their murder is astounding.

DubiousCredentials · 24/04/2017 15:43

Would Tim have had a huge paddle brush though? That's a long hair hair brush surely.

SapphireStrange · 24/04/2017 15:44

I don't think it can be Tim's hair, for the reason you give, Emily.

But then whose IS it? Confused

EmilyDickinson · 24/04/2017 15:48

I think it's one of those brushes for getting bits of lint off suits. Fits with fastidious Tim.

Ollycat · 24/04/2017 15:48

I think it's Hana's brush.

I had thought that Tim had stopped planning to chop Roz up when she opened her eyes and that she ran off but can't quite link this to how she comes to have all his stuff / blood etc?

I feel she has totally lost her grasp on reality with her rant at Nick about him getting her hand cut off as revenge.

Just need Maneet to save the day and prove she was good all along.

How has Steve been getting to work ???

EmilyDickinson · 24/04/2017 15:50

If the hair belongs to one of the women supposedly murdered by balaclava man than that would mean that Roz had had access to their body/bodies and have planned to frame someone for their murder/murders very early on, even before her difficulties with Tim.

EmilyDickinson · 24/04/2017 15:54

It could be Hana's brush, though that's slightly less incriminating than having a murder victim's hair on your jumper.

Ollycat · 24/04/2017 15:57

I think she's looking to link Nick with Hana and imply they both bumped off Tim.

Ollycat · 24/04/2017 15:58

Tim and Roz must have had history- he was way to chippy otherwise...

EmilyDickinson · 24/04/2017 16:09

So. Roz has contaminated Nick's jumper with someone's hair (Tim's? Hana's?). She clearly intends that it should be found following a search of their house.

I was going to ask where she was going to hide all the incriminating g evidence she's accumulated:

  • Tim's severed fingers
  • Tim's phone
  • Tim's laptop
  • hairbrush now containing someone's hair plus fibres from Nick's jumper, the only explanation for the latter being an attempt to frame Nick.

I've now realised that actually Roz can allow all of the above save the hairbrush to be found as they'll serve to incriminate Nick.

I wonder though, whether they'll have picked up any fibres from her car boot? I'm realising how v tricky forensic evidence is to fake.

buggerthebotox · 24/04/2017 16:19

emily I don't think they can look in Roz's boot until she's arrested, unless it's police issue. I'm working on the assumption that it's not a police issue car (because of its age). I may be wrong though.

EmilyDickinson · 24/04/2017 16:35

Last time we saw inside the boot of Roz's car the severed fingers etc weren't there. I guess the safest thing to do would be to move them back there, as you're right, her car might be the only place they can't search. She'll have to do that one handed though. Tricky.

A spouse cannot be compelled to testify against a spouse....

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spousal_privilege

Might this be why she had him arrested?

My theory:

Roz was set up to frame Farmer, she believed he was guilty and 'powers that be' were ensuring she only saw the evidence she 'needed' to (as Hilton said 'there are facts, and then there's the truth' the implication being 'don't let facts stop you seeing the truth - the truth that I know is the truth').

She was all over this until Ifield got in her head. But she didn't know he'd gone to AC12, just that he was mithering at her.

She went to see him to talk it over and got annoyed with him, minor scuffle where she is knocked out, briefly.

His behaviour at this point is inexplicable though!

She wakes up, they have a brief scuffle, he gets knocked out - she calls Jimmy who calls the heavies, who come and clear up, she takes the fingers, phone and laptop but is confident no-one knows she was involved (why did no-one see the others arrive or hear anything?).

She is re-convinced that Farmer is guilty and the ID parade proves it (though in reality he's just a vulnerable young adult with learning difficulties who pesters women because he has no social boundaries - he did not rape the other woman, he was persuaded to plead guilty by Jimmy - yay for nana!) - she is prepared to overlook other evidence to see 'the truth'.

The prostitutes were all used by Hilton who is now being blackmailed by the gang that killed them (who knew they had been used by him so they killed them to use that info). Why they would suddenly bury a new body part is odd - unless they have panicked for some reason? Or they now want Farmer off and are thinking Roz or Nick make better fall guys?

Nick is innocent.

devilinmyshoes · 24/04/2017 17:06

A spouse can be compelled to give evidence against a spouse in criminal England and Wales unless they're jointly charged.

devilinmyshoes · 24/04/2017 17:10

*in criminal? case?

DubiousCredentials · 24/04/2017 17:12

How did she call Jimmy though Out? She didn't have her phone with her and didn't use Ifield's as his calls have been traced hence knowing about the texts to Hana.

OutToGetYou · 24/04/2017 17:15

She has a burner phone, given to her by Hilton! (I dunno, I forgot she didn't have her phone :) )

EmilyDickinson · 24/04/2017 17:20

The last episode just has to show us what happened at Ifield's flat inbetween Roz waking up to find Igirld about to chop her up and Ifield being found dead the next day.

Not sure I can manage to wait until Sunday.

Ceto · 24/04/2017 17:40

There's an interesting parallel in both Roz and Steve sustaining major life-changing injuries at roughly the same time.

Would it be too off the wall to think that Roz could be related to Gates? And that she took her career break to keep her head down when it was all getting difficult?

Whywaitfortomorrow · 24/04/2017 17:51

Going back to ep1....Roz tried to avoid cross contamination of scene at house and scene at Farmer's work where he was arrested. Tim commented that officers had trampled over everything before his team got there. So they definitely had history. Maybe case had been thrown before or something.

Then again she might have kept visibly separate knowing that evidence had been planted and therefore be sure that a defence team wouldn't be able to use cross contamination to get Farmer off.

I just cannot think of a reason why Ifield would have gone to the lengths he did which we must assume then got him killed. Even if it was to cast doubt on Farmer it just doesn't make sense. He deals with dead bodies. Surely he would have known Roz wasn't dead.

seedsofchange · 24/04/2017 17:54

Are we sure that Roz actually really woke up to see Tim standing over her? Did Tim get the forensic gear to do something else, maybe and Roz was hallucinating the bit where he was standing over her with the saw? After all she "saw" him in the bathroom doorway just before she collapsed?
(Notice the play on words there? :) )

I wonder if she is related to Gates, as well ...

Is next week's ep an hour or 90 mins like Series 3 Ep 6?

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 24/04/2017 17:55

I thought about the Roz/ Tony thing but then thought surely no the TV trap of black characters always being related??!

But... how long ago is series 1 mean to be? What sex are the two 'children ' of Roz and Nick? And what was Tony's wife's name??
