I don't think Carrie will go into politics, but Congress does have the capacity to check the President. She might work with them to impeach the President, or something similar.

What is Saul's job? Why was he in that meeting where Carrie assured everyone they weren't going to be arrested (right before they were!) who were all those people?

Will there be another series?
Carrie and Saul?

Yes, how come dodgy social worker is still on the case? Carrie KNOWS about her! And she made that call : 'tell Dar he wins '. Social worker knows she knows...

ZilphasHatpin · 16/04/2017 23:49

Yes there are to be 2 more seasons!

They were all CIA people. One was the woman who had Saul held for 'de-briefing' while Dar was up to some shenanigans,

ZilphasHatpin · 16/04/2017 23:51

Thanks yum!

'tell Dar he wins '.

I'm not sure but I don't think that was to the social worker.

yumyumpoppycat · 17/04/2017 00:05

Hope messages with non homeland spoiler disappear soon Blush

Where has Max been and why was he drunk? It really looked like a setup. What was he saying to Carrie when he arrived and how did he sober so quickly??

yumyumpoppycat · 17/04/2017 00:13

SW didn't know Dar was setting Carrie up exactly - he just gave SW factual information about a child in a possibly dangerous situation.

BitOfFun · 17/04/2017 00:17

I've just watched it. My heart is breaking for Quinn.

PlectrumElectrum · 17/04/2017 00:25

poor Quinn. Patriotic blaze of glory it certainly was. His son/ex were mentioned waaay back when he 1st appeared so not a recent thing added to make him more human. Still, sad he never had his own happy ending.

I think the comment in the Oval Office to the CoS about Carrie not telling you what you want to hear sealed her fate in the new administration. Even if she'd accepted there & then, I think the sly CoS would have made sure she would be shut out. The CoS I'm guessing is possibly a hybrid of Bannon/Kushner & will be the key to whoever may be pulling her strings. He's going to be a key player in the coming series - not sure he's fit to fill Ming the merciless' well polished shoes though.

The scary thing is, the amount of material they'll have for the next series, based on actual crazy shit happening now with that orange faced twat currently in situ, I think will keep them going for about 40 episodes in each of the next 2 series. I think Max will play a yuuge part in the next series, given his particular skill set & all the fake news/Russian hacks/altright hyperbole ala loony tunes radio man.

I'm feeling bloated & sad, having over done it with the Saul snacks. Probably a good thing this is the last one for a while as I'd be in serious need of weight watchers intervention if this had been a longer series.

SoulAccount · 17/04/2017 00:54

Yummy: what about the withdrawal of the offer of a visit due to Frannie's 'illness ' that was suddenly re-Instated once she refused to testify against the Dar?

I17neednumbers · 17/04/2017 10:12

Am now annoyed that I didn't voice my concern/surprise last week about the PE's wish to 'shut down' dissenting voices - then I could have been proved right! As Dar said, something dogmatic about her and she has now proved v ready to abandon the rule of law - what was that that O'keeffe was saying about her refusal to comply with court orders?

Were we supposed to think PE was looking at a photo of her son at the end?

So, Dar. What was his original plan - was he in on the plan to have PE assassinated, or was he just wanting to undermine her politically so that she'd resign? Agree that it wouldn't have hurt him to express some sorrow for Quinn when Saul visited!

It looked as though Quinn had stayed in touch with John Junior for some time - in one of the photos he was ?8/?10. I wonder if Carrie will seek him out to tell him his father was a hero (and also an assassin of course, but maybe she won't mention that)?

yumyumpoppycat · 17/04/2017 10:47

That's true actually soulaccount, it's not clear if it is Dar's people giving the social worker the wrong info or if she is 'bent'.

Have decided Carrie needs an au pair.

I17neednumbers · 17/04/2017 10:59

She did seem very nervous at this meeting didn't she (the social worker) - I think she might be bent. Or alternatively was worried about whether some sudden hostage taking, gun fight, assassination attempt type scenario was about to happen. I wouldn't feel safe on Carrie's premises to be frank.

UnGoogleable · 17/04/2017 11:05

Argh had to come here to mourn poor Quinn Sad although it was inevitable really, unless he went into intensive rehab and made a miraculous recovery from his stroke.

So the pictures that Carrie found in Quinn's book - did anyone notice the significance of the book by the way? Great Expectations - I think was to suggest parallels with Quinn's own upbringing by Dar who took him on and turned him into what he was.

I assumed the photos were of Quinn when he was a baby, because they all had that 1970's tone to them. They had 'mothers name & john' and then 'John Jr' written on the back - so I assumed Quinn was John?

Surely pics of his own kid would be more modern?

As for the ending - I think Carrie's mission next season will be to bring down the President from within of course. But i think the comments in the Oval office from the President saying that Carrie never says what you want her to say - I think that was President praising Carrie, but her Chief of Staff didn't like it. So CoS is the evil one, and President is being manipulated by him.

Oh and the crazy Radio Guy's accent ruined the whole thing for me. One of the biggest shows in the US and they couldn't get an actor with a real American accent? When Rupert Friend and Damien Lewis both managed it perfectly well. It was totally ridiculous.

UnGoogleable · 17/04/2017 11:09

Oh and yes, the Social Worker made me VERY nervous. Don't trust her at all. The whole scene made me cringe - drunk Max in the basement, and the awkward silences.

Fair enough she wanted to see Frannie's room. but why the hell would she need to see Carrie's room? I thought she was an undercover agent sent to reccie the layout of Carrie's house - which Carrie should have realised instantly.

I hope that Carrie employs a full time nanny when she moves to DC.

I17neednumbers · 17/04/2017 11:36

Ah, yes you may be right - pics were of Peter/John, not of his son.

I suppose it was reasonable for social worker to want to see Carrie's bedroom - just to check she doesn't keep firearms lying around or empty vodka bottles. But then if so, it was rather careless of her not to ask to see the basement.

Max seemed to be upset that he was being made out to be an action hero, and that is what's driven him to drink.

Was Dar, or was he not, part of the Sekou bomb conspiracy?

Lweji · 17/04/2017 11:38

I think Max's visit was mostly to reassure us he was OK and to keep us on edge throughout that bit of the episode, which, otherwise, would have been very dull indeed.

RandomDent · 17/04/2017 11:59

I wondered about Max, but then decided it was just to get Carrie into the basement.

Lweji · 17/04/2017 13:08

And that too, although I suppose she could have gone there regardless. :)

tempnamechange77 · 17/04/2017 13:20

Ahhhh poor Quinn.

The photos were definitely his son, the first one of the mother and baby was the one Max and Vergil found when Saul sent them to check him out. Saul then went to interview the mother of John Jr. who was a policewoman.

In that series (2 or 3?) the photo was tucked into Great Expectations but a different copy! The earlier one was a Penguin classics I think!

Chavelita · 17/04/2017 14:33

Do I get a small prize such as Creme Egg for predicting the PE turning into a wrong'un not worthy of poor Quinn's death, and Carrie getting offered a White House job?

I had no Idea Linus Roache was doing US TV these days. I think the last thing I saw him in was Antonia Bird's Priest, where he spent the whole time taking off his dog collar and getting naked with Robert Carlyle.
