Keane planned it all I think. Used Carrie's connections & relationship with the intelligence community to keep them at bay till she could get the arrests out. Also the job offer to keep her on side.

Hassled · 16/04/2017 22:36

I had such faith in her. I feel duped. And I feel duped that Homeland made me think TV Man was a nutter.

Lweji · 16/04/2017 22:39

I don't think Keane had a big bad plan. I think she has been pushed. By Angry Radio Man, by the assassination attempt and the protests.

What I don't get in full is why Carrie was suddenly shut out. Was it because Saul called her? Because she didn't say yes immediately? Or the President knows what Carrie was going to say?

Lweji · 16/04/2017 22:40

TV man IS a nutter.

As I said earlier, but too early, I don't think they planned the female President to go mad/bad.

I blame the Trump victory.

ZilphasHatpin · 16/04/2017 22:42

I think Keane might be being controlled by someone. Saul made a comment about the public not liking a president who can't be controlled and she looked as if she was about to blurt something out, then she said she didn't think she could do it (be president) I wonder if she really wanted to say "I am being controlled, but not by who you think" new COS is one to watch isn't he? Where did he come from? Out of nowhere seemingly.

Because she didn't say yes immediately?

I think so. I think the offer was a test to see how doe eyed Carrie was with the president. The fact Carrie took time to think about it told the president that Carrie wasn't as easily controllable as she needed her to be. Not fit for purpose= shut out.

I kept expecting Otto to be revealed as being involved somewhere but I wonder if he's been written out now

ZilphasHatpin · 16/04/2017 22:49

Yes where the helm did Otto and his mystery woman go??

HalleLouja · 16/04/2017 22:50

Mmmm Dar was right. The actor who plays him does it to a T he's fab. As mentioned that scene with him and Saul made the series. But then so did the two with Ferret (RIP Quinnvincible). The one by the lake and the other in his apartment.

Do you think they had a flashback of Quinn so we could remember how he was? Those photos made me sob. Poor Quinn. Poor Max. Poor innocent Saul. Keane is obviously been manipulated by someone.

HalleLouja · 16/04/2017 22:53

I did mention several threads ago that Otto was only being used to explain how Carrie could afford to move to NY he obviously had a soft spot for her abs many millions in the bank to fund her project.

We also need to remember the Joaquin Phoenix-esq FBI agent who dies along the way too.

TheSpottedZebra · 16/04/2017 22:55

I wanted to see Dar's bae.

(I was going to write Chao, but didn't want you to think I meant something else)

I do think that Carrie would have looked through his stuff prior to that day though. And I'm not really buying the son storyline - it feels like that was added in to flesh out the character a bit.

TheSpottedZebra · 16/04/2017 22:56

I LOVED Joaquin Phoenix FBI.
I love the original one though, quite a bit.

TheSpottedZebra · 16/04/2017 22:58

I don't really get who the 2 factions were Tbh - the Dar side and the General Skeletor side.
Who were they. Why here they and what did they stand for.

And did Saul put his diamonds back in the secret place, or will he do a magnificent escape?
Does his jailhouse have a ... laundry?

Gimboid · 16/04/2017 22:58

RIP Quinn. Sad

Cocolepew · 16/04/2017 23:01

Oh no Sad I knew it was coming but I cried at Weasle Boy (RIP). Then cried again at the photos.
Imagine Saul being arrested Hmm…
That whole episode was too tense.

ZilphasHatpin · 16/04/2017 23:03

Agree zebra it wasn't really clarified who they were or who they were working for. I mean it can't really have been 5 black ops guys gone rogue because a radical tv presenter waned them to. It wasn't Dar because he was quite out of the loop wasn't he? I'm still very confused about that.

And yy to the diamonds! What happened to them? smuggled to brody to secure safe passage home

SoulAccount · 16/04/2017 23:03

Oh, TVMan is a nutter all right. He is a vile altRight swivel eyed loony. What is tragic and bleak is that Carrie and Max and Saul are obliged to have views of the president which share some of the Venn diagram with his outlook.

Yes, I think the President was affected by all the events. And in truth, every series has demonstrated that in Homeland land at least, the CIA is out of control and a law unto itself.

I think it was exactly Saul's comment about people not liking a president that could be controlled that made her resolve to press hard down on the CIA.

ZilphasHatpin · 16/04/2017 23:05

Oh and can anyone remind me, was Javadi killed? Where did he end up after he was smuggled out of the hotel room in the laundry hamper?

Intrigued to see Ken Barlow's (real life) son playing the new CoS - it's almost like they have to replace each dead Brit with another one...
Great episode tonight, but still not quite sure what happened. Will snatch again when I can concentrate better.

TheresAGhostYouFools · 16/04/2017 23:12

...obviously that should be 'watch' - I'm not planning to snatch anything..

SoulAccount · 16/04/2017 23:14

I think the Troops of General Skeletor were a right wing plot. Right wing terrorists. They didn't do it because TV man told them too, they did it because they are latter day Confederates.

Dar did want to undermine the President and her 'liberal ' views, and thought he could play some factions of her enemies. I don't think he knew about the Black Ops guys til he tortured the Senstor in the chiller.

Gimboid · 16/04/2017 23:20

I think Dar and General Skeletor were originally working together, it got out of hand with Dar just trying to initially derail the PE and bailing out and the general going ahead with the full assassination attempt.

Farewell, Quinn Also, my apologies to Dar whose heart is not as stony as I thought - and, yes, I fear all he said about President will come true. The question is, what role will Carrie have in the next series? As it ended with her starting intently at the Capitol Building, does that mean Carrie is going to run as president herself or try to become a senator to fight against her??

yumyumpoppycat · 16/04/2017 23:36

Carrie as president {li quivers} (we have audio description they describe it as bottom lip trembling - that used to happen in my so called lfe too!)

I think the way they are playing the Frannie story is very interesting too, Carrie really can't provide a safe home for her unless she backs away from the whole thing, which obviously she has tried and failed to do before.
