Some of you might be interested in this - I think the house is beautiful and live close to Dorchester so might pay a visit - all proceeds to local rape charities... www.facebook.com/FreshwaterBeachHolidayPark/photos/a.424842180887923.92919.405293789509429/1384163728289092/?type=3&theater

I think it'll be a curve ball, so not as obvious as we might guess. Dunno how they'd convincingly make it Cath though.

NotJanine · 15/04/2017 14:57

I don't think it could literally be Cath, but she could have been an accomplice.

However I hope it isn't as I feel the programme is about the failings of men and how women hold everything together.

picklemepopcorn · 15/04/2017 17:14

Ha! Thank you all! I'm 47, clearly a suitable age. I knew BIL was a dick idiot!

Edsheeranalbumparty · 15/04/2017 18:29

I think it's taxi driver with Leo involved. I also think the stepson knows. I think the end of this weeks episode was a 'semi reveal' - enough to keep people talking.

I don't think it will be a curve ball, the 'twist' will be how it came about. Like at the end of series 2.

I remember there were so many unanswered questions and red herrings in the previous series, and i think this will be the same - there is just not enough time now to answer all the questions, or have some sort of massively shocking reveal as to the perpetrator. I also don't think they have time to reveal it was Miller's son who killed Danny either. If i remember correctly we found out it was Joe before the last episode didn't we? (Just on that though, someone made a really good point about why Joe was turning on the phone at that time, unless he had found it from his son and was turning it on to see whose it was? Shock )
I could of course i could be talking total shit and it will turn out to be Hardy!

But i do agree that given how this series has so obviously been dispelling rape myths etc, Kath won't be involved in the rape.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 15/04/2017 19:50

I've been binge watching series 2 all day, on episode 4 now. It's better than I remembered!

scoobyloobyloo · 15/04/2017 20:19

I'm massively hoping it's not Cath, would be a massive let down.

They've said the twist is huge...

HeyRoly · 15/04/2017 20:23

No way can it be a female rapist with a strap on Hmm

It would undo all the good, feminist writing we've had about rape being about sex, not power, and the general inadequacies of men (Hardy had a powerful line about feelig "ashamed to be a man"). To turn the tables and have there be a female rapist would actually be quite damaging because it would send out an unrealistic message about rape and its perpetrators - which are 99.9% men. How many female-on-female rapes happen, ever?

HeyRoly · 15/04/2017 20:24

*power not sex

I'm an idiot, getting that the wrong way around Blush

MrsJoyOdell · 15/04/2017 20:30

I always thought Joe turned on the phone because he wanted to be found. He said then he'd 'had enough of hiding' when they came to him.

Surely the biggest possible twist but be that the 'facts' of the rape as we know it are incorrect. Not necessarily that it didn't happen, but that Trish has lied/omitted details etc. I don't think that would be a very good thing to do but certainly I've seen programmes do worse.

NotJanine · 15/04/2017 20:39

Where can you watch series 2?

DubiousCredentials · 15/04/2017 20:46

Series one and two are on Now TV if that helps?

PreemptiveSalvageEngineer · 15/04/2017 21:02

I have wondered about the near-24 hour lag between it happening and her reporting, and how very distraught she was. Not in a "don't believe" way, but genuinely curious. What had she done between then? How did she get home, to the police station? Was there anything in particular that made her go and report at that time, that hadn't before?

Maybe the thing in between is the twist.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 15/04/2017 21:16

I'm watching it on itv encore on sky. It's amazing how much you forget, I'm definitely going to rewatch series 3 after Monday too

IAmNotAUserNumber · 15/04/2017 21:16

Pre-emptive yes, what did happen between the rape and Trish going to the police? And i think it was longer than 24 hours -Sat night till Tues morning. so a long time to account for?

PreemptiveSalvageEngineer · 15/04/2017 21:18

Btw, I totally get that she's distraught because she'd been raped, but i meant "freshly distraught", almost catatonic, IIRC, cowed, confused, like it had only just happened.

Ferrisday · 15/04/2017 21:24

I think they've got the place wrong. So that skews everything.
The condom wrapper was Jims

MusicToMyEars800 · 15/04/2017 21:48

PreemptiveSalvageEngineer me too, it was a while before she reported it.

JDelanysCleanHorse · 15/04/2017 21:54

There was blood on a stone at the supposed crime scene. (I mentioned it further on back in the thread) don't think they ever confirmed it was Trish's.Does anyone remember if it was?

NotJanine · 15/04/2017 22:06

I can't remember from the first episode - what did she say happened after the rape? Was she left where it happened

Cary2012 · 15/04/2017 22:08

Just rewatched Monday's episode.

It's not Kath, yes she's trying to pin the blame on her hubby, but that's because 'hell hath no fury' and he slept with her mate.

It's the ex husband, him off the Fast Show. If I had another crumpled fiver I'd stick it on him.

HeyRoly · 15/04/2017 22:45

The time lag between the attack happening and Trish reporting is something I'd forgotten about. Because in episode one when Trish went to the rape centre to be examined, all of her clothes and shoes were removed and bagged. Her feet and shoes were filthy. And then it was revealed that those weren't the clothes and shoes she'd been wearing that night, I remember turning to DH and saying "why were her feet so dirty?"

It may well be one of those red herrings that never gets referenced again or resolved.

Msqueen33 · 15/04/2017 22:59

Its been a bit slow going for me. Nothing much seems to have happened and they're going round in circles. I hope everything isn't rammed into the last episode. I was bored by series 2 but I do like this show a lot. And I want to know who did it! I'm 33 btw.

MrsJoyOdell · 15/04/2017 23:02

The more I think about it the more I think the gap between happening and reporting is going to be very important. Hurry up Monday!!

Graphista · 15/04/2017 23:40

You all seen the trailer? Possible clue as to vicar being a key figure? 'You had a moral and a legal duty to tell us!'
