Had forgotten about the gap too, I'm sure that will become very relevant. I'm sure that Trish said she had had a bath Inbetween too, thus destroying evidence. Could the twist be that she has known all along who the attacker was but cannot bring herself to tell them?

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 15/04/2017 23:56

Just joining in now. I'm seriously considering going to the cinema on Monday to watch the final episode!

LordTrash · 15/04/2017 23:59

Ooh, just got really excited about cherry's suggestion of watching the final episode in the cinema, only to find that there's no participating cinema anywhere near me.

Bit ironic, since I live just down the road from 'Broadchurch'.

CoolCarrie · 16/04/2017 00:15

The time gap has bothered me from the start, but I think she may have walked home and just stayed in bed, as her daughter was away, and when she felt up to it , she walked to the police station. Or she was raped elsewhere, nearer to home.

Cary2012 · 16/04/2017 07:04

Graphista, no haven't seen the trailer, perhaps someone confessed to the vicar then, oh it's so exciting. I wouldn't want to watch it in the cinema cos I always watch it in my pj's drinking a big mug of tea, so I'd probably get a few odd looks at our local Vue. Plus the drooling over DT, not a good look.

Dumdedumdedum · 16/04/2017 07:24

Cary2012 - here's the trailer if you're interested in watching it:

Cary2012 · 16/04/2017 07:46

Aw thanks Dumdedumdedum! Just watched it! Can't wait x

IAmNotAUserNumber · 16/04/2017 08:13

Moral and legal duty - could be to T's ex in his role as a teacher? Or to the rev?
The comment about alibi being false - I think the only one who apparently gave a strong alibi in the first place was Rope Boy ( although police believed a couple of eps ago it was dodgy)
Were ex and convicted rapists the only suspects not in that trailer?

MrsJoyOdell · 16/04/2017 08:16

I disagree with the vicar being the one who has the 'moral and legal duty' to tell them (well he has them but I don't think it's him in the room) - I'd say those are the duties of a teacher...

Also - OC's face outside the station - found something out about Tom??

MrsJoyOdell · 16/04/2017 08:17

Also, we already know rope boy lied, the only person who's alibi hasn't been busted yet is creepy Clive isn't it?

WishITookLifeSeriously · 16/04/2017 08:45

I think it was Mark Lattimer.

ScrambledSmegs · 16/04/2017 09:57

Moral and legal duty? Could be Katy? Ian? Beth? Her boss? Although it's quite vague and Hardy doesn't mention a professional duty so realistically it could be anyone. I don't think he's talking to a teenager though.

Gah. I'm now not even going to be able to watch it live because FAAAAMLY so have to go NC with this thread tomorrow Angry Sad

iwanttobemissmarple · 16/04/2017 10:03

Just watched the trailer.

I'm torn between being so excited for tomorrow night & gutted because it's the last ever episode.

Ferrisday · 16/04/2017 10:04

Oh no
Miller looks really upset

Cary2012 · 16/04/2017 10:04

Do you know Wish, I was just mulling all this over whilst hoovering (living the dream), and I thought it might be Mark too. My reasoning for this is because the Latimers have featured heavily in a stand alone episode, and the link being Beth being a victim support worker is a bit flimsy otherwise.

So basically, over the week, I've thought it's just about the whole lot of them.

I think it will be between (drum roll for final three) ... Ian, Vicar, Mark. And I am definitely over thinking this...

Cary2012 · 16/04/2017 10:05

Hopefully Miller looks really upset because Hardy has just ripped her off a thousand shreds for destroying vital evidence...

iwanttobemissmarple · 16/04/2017 10:06

I don't want it to be Mark -I think the Latimers have been through enough.

Wouldn't mind it being the vicar though but really want it to be creepy Clive.

Cary2012 · 16/04/2017 10:06

I meant stand alone series, not episode.

SoulAccount · 16/04/2017 10:16

I can't remember what the conclusion to MackerelGate was? Did we find out what he had actually been doing?

Would the Known Rapist (Aaran?£ not still be under the eye of a probation officer? And wouldn't lying to the police in an interview about a rape case be some sort of official transgression?

I think Mark has featured heavily because it is a trilogy, and how the the aftermath of a death affects individuals, a family, a community. I don't for one moment think Mark did it!

It would be WAY to cruel for it to be Tom. Or Miller's Dad...

WishITookLifeSeriously · 16/04/2017 10:27

My post was a bit pathetic, sorry. The reason I think it was Mark is that the rapes started happening soon after Danny's death and we all know Mark has been VERY angry and of course there'll be dna evidence so he will be sentenced. Will he go to prison for an offence that maybe he wouldn't have committed if his son hadn't been killed by someone who seemingly got away with it? Plus the rev said to Beth about the moral obligation to Mark. Is it now being said to him? That sentence has to tie in with something.

On the other hand, we've only seen Nige once this series. Could he be the wrong 'un Pauline Quirke told police he would be? Remember when she said to Maggie "I know men that would rape you"?

I am not overly invested at all

VanillaSugar · 16/04/2017 10:48

"Moral and legal duty" - hopefully this is NOT being said to Miller Easter Confused

NotJanine · 16/04/2017 10:51

I think everyone has the moral and legal duty - they could be talking to the ice cream girl. I think the trailer just shows they are re-interviewing some or all of the suspects based on new information.

Whoevers DNA was on the sock will be the starting point of unravelling it all.

Wish it was a longer last episode

Cary2012 · 16/04/2017 10:51

Excellent point VanillaSugar...(ponders some more)

colouringinagain · 16/04/2017 10:56

Ooooh looks v good! Another one who can't wait but doesn't want it to end!

hackmum · 16/04/2017 11:15

It would be awful if it was Mark. What kind of message would that be? Grief makes you so angry that you go round raping people?
