If the DNA was Miller's son, or husband I don't think Hardy would have let her see the screen, did the son & husband give dna in the first series? I can't remember. Could Joe be behind it as revenge on Broadchurch for throwing him out?

ElspethFlashman · 13/04/2017 19:42

I'd pass on a furtle. He always looks like he has a runny nose.

Cary2012 · 13/04/2017 20:04

IAmNotAUserNumber... she just has a 'hunch' about him, she can't justify it, so not much help, sorry (but she does have an uncanny knack for getting it right).

DispatchReady · 13/04/2017 20:10

I've always thought it was mansion owner but I don't think he's obvious enough now.

Who knows but there's a hell of a lot to cram in for the final episode so I hope it doesn't end up all happening in the last 10 minutes!

IAmNotAUserNumber · 13/04/2017 20:24

Cary the finest fictional detectives always go on a hunch that is later proved to be right, so your mum must be on to something Smile

DubiousCredentials · 13/04/2017 20:38

We haven't seen Mansion Owner since episode 2 or 3 maybe so that'll be disappointing if it is him.

I'd love for Joe Miller to be found to have been covering for Creepy Son whose name escapes me, but I doubt it will happen.

Nige had huge crossbow for hunting in s1. He was out on the cliffs the night Danny died I think?

Personally I think this series is seriously lacking in flashbacks. We've only had the one when Trish went back to the house, and I think a few more clips of the party would have made it all a bit more interesting somehow.

SheStoodInTheStorm · 13/04/2017 22:21

Anyone else a little worried about how much there is to fit in to one hour?!
Confused

PreemptiveSalvageEngineer · 13/04/2017 22:23

That flashback of Trish at the party nearly broke my heart. We'd gotten so used to Trish the wounded, scared, confused, brave, needy, etc. Seeing her happy, carefree, silly even, was such an utter contrast it really hit me hard.

DubiousCredentials · 13/04/2017 22:29

Yes me too Preemptive. It was so good I wish there had been more.

topcat2014 · 13/04/2017 22:32

I'm worried there is too much to fit into the last five minutes after the final 'Seat' advert!.

Hoping it doesn't end up being 'Cath' (Sarah Parish), as I quite like her blush

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 13/04/2017 22:59

Scrambled, Grin If ever I start an Indie band, it'll now be named "Furtle Under His Cassock".

re listings omitting characters, or cast members 'accidentally' letting slip clues in interviews etc.:
I'm pretty sure everyone involved with Broadchurch, be that the actors themselves/ scriptwriters or director, has been primed to spread as much confusion and rumour as possible, so as to ramp up audience speculation!
They must be delighted by the big reveal becoming as hotly anticipated as Dallas's "Who shot J.R.?", 1980s.

Roll on, Monday.

Comment about it being filmed by someone else thinking it was consensual... Maybe this was Tom! It's going to be discovered Miller's son has or has distributed a film of the rape. Cue him being a suspect and a whole "not again" dialogue. Then it will turn out he's just a peeping Tom (!) and he didn't know it was a rape. Actual rapist is Mansion man or his son Leo (who lived in the cottage on his father's land).

LilaoftheGreenwood · 13/04/2017 23:37

Re Tom Miller maybe having killed Danny. Yes it would be a satisfying twist and I wasn't happy with the Joe Miller ending...

BUT I am now binge rewatching S1 to sate Hardy/Miller cravings, and Tom is really such a little, little boy in that, not the slightly objectionable teenager we have come to know in S3. And the pathologist makes a big point of telling the police that Danny was strangled by somebody with big hands, which seems to basically rule out that theory.

Also I am watching Joe in those early scenes and thinking yeah, fair play with hindsight he IS being weird, you can see it from the start. Weirdly cavalier about the death of this boy and trying to minimise it and insist to everyone it's going to be ok, which at the time one passes of as him trying to reassure his wife and son, but it's not, he's trying to tell everyone and himself that what he did was not so bad.

I think now that if they're staying true to how they wrote S1, they won't revisit Danny's death, or not in that way.

DubiousCredentials · 14/04/2017 07:41

I find it hard to believe that anyone could think that a bloke having sex with an unconscious woman with her hands tied behind her back and a sock stuffed in her mouth was consensual, even a teenaged boy with a porn addiction?

throughgrittedteeth · 14/04/2017 07:52

I just can't see either of the boys - Tom or Taxi mans' SS being rapists. I still think it's Taxi man and rope boy and I think Taxi man has the footage of the rape and gave it to his SS and the message is that with 'porn' videos you never know if it had been consensual. I think that's why Hardy's daughter's story exists, to sort of make the subject of revenge porn a bit more human.

TizzyDongue · 14/04/2017 08:34

DubiousCredentials I don't think they see it as consensual or not consensual. They don't take the woman's feelings in. She's just there as a commodity.

But I don't think the video of Trish's rape as circulate yet, so no teenager has seen it and recognised her and so realised what's happening.

throughgrittedteeth · 14/04/2017 08:59

I wonder if it no one has recognised her though because they made sure her face wasn't in the video.

SoulAccount · 14/04/2017 09:04

Very early on in the series, after the scene where the boys had been made to work at the church, and after Tom had stolen his phone back, one boy was saying 'have you seen this? ' and foisting it on the other who looked much less keen to look. Which one was less keen? I thought it was the Ss?

TizzyDongue · 14/04/2017 09:14

Yes it was stepson.

TizzyDongue · 14/04/2017 09:17

But I think that is because he is sensitive to the fact women are human, who have feelings. He sees his mother being badly treated by his step dad and knows it hurts her. (As we saw over the dinner scene)

ElspethFlashman · 14/04/2017 10:24

Wait, there's only one episode left?!

But barely anything has happened since the first one!

SmartyPants0 · 14/04/2017 10:38

Trisha's husbsnd said to the police that she had been with lots of other men... he knows this because he could see her if she didn't close her laptop down... could the lad that put the spyware on also be watching her and be distributing it to the younger boys..

CarrieBradshawsScrunchie · 14/04/2017 10:49

Monday's episode better be bloody good! I worry that if it's one of the current suspects it won't be that satisfying, and if if it's someone out of nowhere it won't be satisfying either!

Sunnymeg · 14/04/2017 11:10

I reckon Miller's son will aquire a video of the rape, realise what he is watching and go on a redemptive arc, thus saving him from potentially turning out like his father. I think cast members have been told to give out false ideas in interviews and we really have no clue what will happen in Monday's episode.

SoulAccount · 14/04/2017 11:22

Suppose it was Mansion Man, and Twine Boy, as his son, filmed it secretly from a distance, planning to use it as blackmail / protection / revenge against the over bearing father he described in his police interview?

But he did seem to be having cold feet, when he refused to take the laptop back and wipe the Spy ware.
