Yes, we're definitely not marathoning it! Too creepy and horribly, I don't know? Realistic? Which is crazy for a Marvel series but you could really feel how you'd feel once you were came into contact with DT and it is a bit close to home or something.

Grin Ferris and newaveragebear.

This one's another gem (illustrator credit: halorvic)

Does anyone have an idea of how much Broadchurch time has passed since the investigation began?

Feels like forever to us audience, but I'm confused as to Miller and Hardy's timescale.

I've been musing on the significance of the fact that the rapist smells of vodka. DD has pointed out that the vicar is a former alcoholic.

She has also sent me a screen shot from Digital Spy of an interview with the actor who plays Nigel saying you need to come at it from the perspective of someone who has watched all three series. Which is interesting.

I do think it would ruin the whole thing if it was the vicar.

LIZS · 13/04/2017 15:46

I didn't think vodka smells.

Cary2012 · 13/04/2017 15:50

I've never trusted that vicar ...

ScrambledSmegs · 13/04/2017 15:50

Shit. If it was the vicar I don't think I could ever forgive them. That would be a twist too far I think!

hackmum · 13/04/2017 15:57

Good point, LIZS! I hadn't thought of that.

But if it's someone who's been in all three series who could it be? Tom Miller? Mark Latimer? DI Hardy?

Here's what the Digital Spy thing was referring to - an interview with Joe Sims: www.express.co.uk/showbiz/tv-radio/791413/Broadchurch-season-3-final-Trish-Winterman-rapist-identity-Joe-Sims-ITV

I've foolishly looked at the cast list for episode 8 on IMDB and now I have more questions Confused

I think Creepy Taxi makes a very satisfying villain, but think that he probably isn't acting alone if it's him.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/04/2017 16:51

LaLaLaLaLaLa

Please no spoilers!!!!!!

Clawdy · 13/04/2017 16:51

The cast list is often no real indication, though, as they sometimes add or miss out names to avoid spoilers.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 13/04/2017 17:01

Wasn't there something in the original series about the vicar helping someone to clear stuff from their computer? I can't remember how it resolved. I still don't think he's a rapist

NotJanine · 13/04/2017 17:12

Dodgy computer usage does seem to have been a common theme

ScrambledSmegs · 13/04/2017 17:19

No, no spoilers from the cast list. Just made me think a little more, that's all.

I don't really think the actor who played Nige would be privy to the stuff they've written for series 3, would he? Surely he's just saying stuff to get publicity for his new podcast,

TheLegendOfBeans · 13/04/2017 17:19

I am a newcomer to Broadchurch and as a series 3 joiner I've been asking myself "what is the point of the vicar" all the way through.

It can't be, can it?! My money was on Clive the cabbie (rapist), and Leo as holder of the phone (filmer of the rape).

NotJanine · 13/04/2017 17:21

The vicar was a suspect in the first series, I think he's just in it now as someone for other characters to talk to - for instance with Beth, it lets us know what she is thinking.

Cary2012 · 13/04/2017 17:26

So looking forward to 9pm next Monday, hope it lives up to our expectations.

I still think Miller smashing up her son's phone and lap top will be significant. Hardy will go ballistic at her if she's tried to destroy what could be vital evidence. Can't wait.

Might get my dad to go to the bookies for me (it's his second home!) and stick a fiver on the vicar for me.

iwanttobemissmarple · 13/04/2017 17:27

I've decided to watch the final episode & then watch the whole lot again from the beginning. Even if I have to watch series 2 which I really disliked. Dh says I'm sad! I'm hoping I'm going to go 'oh' that's why so & so happened.

Cary2012 · 13/04/2017 17:29

My mum does that, she watches it 'live' then rewatches it the next day and says she picks up loads.

She thinks it's taxi drivers stepson.

IAmNotAUserNumber · 13/04/2017 18:38

hacknum your DD has a good point Shock
But I'll be annoyed if it's the vicar because the story hadn't built up to that, there should have been more hints through the series. E.g. In S2 he was in a relationship with the hotel owner - what has happened to her? Did she leave him? Did the rapes occur after she left him?
I'll also be disappointed if it's Tom and/or he killed Danny.
Nige has been in it this series but only fleetingly. Did we ever find out why he had a massive great cross-bow in the back of the van in S1.

I'm hoping Taxi did it, possibly filmed by Rope Boy. I also hope Mark is seen to start to move on, and that Joe dies a horrible death.

IAmNotAUserNumber · 13/04/2017 18:38

Cary why does your DM suspect the stepson?

SapphireStrange · 13/04/2017 18:54

Did we ever find out why he had a massive great cross-bow in the back of the van in S1. I think he went hunting/shooting, although I can't remember what.

Was the vicar in a relationship with the hotel owner? I don't remember that at all. Confused I've got serious S2 amnesia. Grin

ElspethFlashman · 13/04/2017 19:02

I definitely don't think its Crap Vicar.

Lost his faith? Yes

Rapist? No.

ScrambledSmegs · 13/04/2017 19:16

Aw, poor vicar. He started out as hot vicar (remember someone on here saying they wouldn't say no to a furtle under his cassock), now he's Crapâ„¢. How the mighty have fallen.

SapphireStrange · 13/04/2017 19:16

I still would, I'm happy to admit it.
