I think Trish said the light was shining in her face, rather than elsewhere. It seems that there were certainly others involved rather than one perpetrator.

Not sure who raised the point earlier but Jim definitely threatened Sleazy Taxi Man when his breakdown truck broke down and he needed a lift, as if he had some sort of dirt on him.

Also trophy drawer of Sleazy Taxi Man: Trish's keys- could she have just dropped them in the taxi at some point and he has kept them or is it something to do with Trish's daughter and STM's step-son? Picture of Kath and daugher on the key ring. Can't remember if it was only Ian who we saw trying the door or was there another occasion when the handle wobbled but no one came in? would Trish have mentioned the lost keys to the police? I would hate to have lost keys to my house. Have the locks been changed since....

-wanders off to stroke chin and ponder some more-

strike through fail

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/04/2017 09:06

They could tell from the examination that a condom had been used I think, or trish told them? then found the wrapper so put that together.

I did think that the taxi man's step son would be Ed's biological son, but I thought that might have come out by now if that was the case? There's a lot to happen in the final hour isn't there if all our predictions are correct!

I want to know:
about the caravans,
who rope boy's dad is (could it be Aaron??? The released rapist? Is he old enough?)
Who lives in the cottage
The school porn thing- Tom, step son, daisy, taxi man etc
The spyware porn thing- Ian, rope boy,
Who picked up the bag and planted it ( good suggestion of it being Rope boy's gf!)
If the 3rd victim is going to speak out it might be the missing link,
Whose DNA is on the sock,
What's taxi man going to do to wifey when he catches her in his garage
What's the link between the three subplots if any- ie. There's an IT link- spyware, sharing info, filming and distributing. Aaron was in IT, IT firm definitely linked to 2 of the victims?

Plus- did Joe Miller kill Danny or didn't he??????

And also, my own personal wild card- which one out of Miller/hardy is going to quit the force? I think it will be miller, and Katie will swoop in and take her job. She'll go back to spend some time with her children.

So they best get cracking because it's going to hard to cram all that into under an hour!!

APlaceOnTheCouch · 13/04/2017 09:23

Looking at your list, I don't think they're going to answer all of those bear Sad
My top three would be: who raped Trish? who lives in the cottage? who planted the bag?
I'd like an unfortunate act of God falling crane; big storm that washes him into the sea to take out Joe Miller and restore the vicar's faith Wink

SpanishFly · 13/04/2017 10:06

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but TwineBoy has also twice referred to his dad, but we don't know who his dad is...?

LilaoftheGreenwood · 13/04/2017 10:16

SleazyTaxi's stepson is Ed Burnett's natural son.

Yes, and in fact there's no reason why Taxi's Surrendered Wife shouldn't be Ed Burnett's ex, is there? What did he say to the police about his ex wife, did he say or just imply that she died, or did he not even say that much?

Mind you if the next episode opens with Katie turning up at Taxi house to see her half-brother and ex step-mum and happens to be in time to stop Taxi man attacking her, and NOBODY has worked these relationships out or mentioned them before, I will be annoyed. Hmm

LilaoftheGreenwood · 13/04/2017 10:17

Spanish we think TwineBoy's dad is the guy who owns Axehampton Hall.

We got this Wink

LilaoftheGreenwood · 13/04/2017 10:20

Thinking on, the logical person to live in the cottage is Twine Boy. That solves two of the things on Bear's list in one line of dialogue.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/04/2017 10:21

Haha I actually missed trish's rapist off my list!! I would be a terrible detective!!

Just saw that daily quicky on Facebook, very funny.

LilaoftheGreenwood · 13/04/2017 10:32

I'm 80% sure Jim was guilty of the earlier rape, the one Hardy suddenly switched to mid-interview, of the woman who hasn't officially come forward. I reckon Jim's probably the type to have kidded himself it was consensual albeit rough (remember the waitress stopped him because he was too rough). He suddenly went very, very hostile and defensive at that point in the interview.

It also seems like there's no reason why Aaron couldn't have been guilty of Laura's rape (which I think was a couple of years earlier than the other woman's? 2012?). He's a convicted rapist, Hardy and Miller got out of him (I think?) that he did used to drink in that pub she left, they asked him "so about 2012?" and he said "yeah, about then". He also did some work for Laura's company albeit claiming he'd not met her.

That leaves Trish, no nearer on that.

I do see that the modus operandi thing is a problem though. My slightly weak explanation is that if these men are all consuming the same dodgy home-made porn, they're all copying the same style.

SpanishFly · 13/04/2017 10:40

Thanks Lila Grin - yup, thats who we thought too. So he didnt need to be invited to the party, as he actually lives there....?

SpanishFly · 13/04/2017 10:41

Oh, hang on, does anyone actually live at the party house?

SapphireStrange · 13/04/2017 10:46

Well big shiny gold medal for SapphireStrange on it being Spyware that CreepyHusband had installed. I'm not going to listen to anyone but you now!!! Thangyew. Grin But loads of other people suggested it too.

Whoa! Is that 4/5 other rapes?! I don't know what this is referring to; enlighten me? [befuddled]

Leo's speech at the police station was an act to put the police off him I didn't believe Leo at all. I think either it was an act, or Ian had been grooming/abusing him.

But why would she have a picture of herself on her own keyring, doesn't make sense. It's a pic of her and her daughter. Lots of people
have family pics like that.

Jim seemed to have met the owner of the red Clio but didn't she say he never turned up, so how did Jim know what she looked like? Yeah, I'm really confused about this. There's one other rape victim whose car broke down and one who walked home from the pub on her own, right? Which of them was the red Clio owner? Laura whatsername? But then yes, Jim wouldn't know her. Were the cops trying to trick him?

I don't at the moment think it's Jim.

I accuse Taxi Man of all of them. His wife will uncover him, although I fear she may die while doing so. Sad

I think Jim's a serial adulterer, although that doesn't necessarily explain Kath saying he could tear his life down.

Ed has a generally dark past but it's not him either. Is he an alcoholic? He's said before he doesn't drink, but the camera zoomed in significantly on the bottle in front of him in that scene.

Ian is a creep and possibly involved in porn/underage malarkey/both.

The vicar just wants more people to come to his church. Grin

LilaoftheGreenwood · 13/04/2017 10:47

I think posh old guy lives there still, but I now can't remember whether he was there on the night of the party. Hardy and Miller seemed to lose interest in him pretty quickly. It would make sense for him to go away when there's a party. Night fishing perhaps??

SapphireStrange · 13/04/2017 10:48

Oh yeah, I forgot about the puzzle about who's Leo's dad and who lives at the cottage. I think they might both be significant. Although I don't understand why the cops haven't mentioned or tried to find out who his dad is –or have they, and I've missed it? And they haven't mentioned the cottage again since they said they hadn't seen anyone coming back to it, have they?

MorrisZapp · 13/04/2017 10:49

Jim arriving at his wife's fiftieth, clocking a hot waitress and then driving away again to buy condoms is literally the best MN relationships thread never to happen.

LilaoftheGreenwood · 13/04/2017 10:54

Nope, they haven't followed any of that up, and apparently nor have any of the DCs on their large but mostly invisible team. The team basically exists for Hardy to give it a borderline bollocking every couple of episodes to reaffirm his gruff character Grin

LilaoftheGreenwood · 13/04/2017 10:57

"My dad is a suspect in the rape case my team is investigating, but my boss is a bit of a caaah to me, AIBU not to tell her we are related?"

APlaceOnTheCouch · 13/04/2017 11:36

I think twine-boy lives in the cottage too and that's why he winked at taxi driver when he told him to take him home.
I wish taxi-driver's DW was a MNer. She'd have kicked him out, got some tips from S&B and be the one meeting Hardy on Tinder Wink

CoolCarrie · 13/04/2017 12:06

I think Hardy and Miller are crap detectives, and quite glad this is the last series.

sucue · 13/04/2017 12:28

I also think that Hardy and Miller are crap detectives, but I don't care.

They are the best thing to happen on a Monday night ever.

ElspethFlashman · 13/04/2017 13:25

Yes they're not making much progress other than what falls into their lap.

But their bollockings are glorious. When DT was going through those lads for a shortcut, I was sat there like this: Grin

I'm watching Jessica Jones on Netflix which has DT in it and he's not half as much fun even though he plays the Baddie. Fake English accent for a start - he's not half as much fun without the accent.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 13/04/2017 14:06

I thought he was excellent in Jessica Jones although he reminded me of an ex who was extremely manipulative so I had to watch it in short bursts. It was too realistic (which seems an odd thing to say about a show with superheroes!).

ktel1 · 13/04/2017 14:37

I think Alex the Musician is the rapist.

There are a lot of unanswered questions and I don't think many will be answered in the last episode- basically a lot of red herrings.

They'll reveal the rapist ,then everyone will come together as a community -cue lingering final shots and melodramatic music.
