I'll be annoyed if it's Manor Man TBH. At least with Joe he was always there, to be present and yet not be suspected IYSWIM, rather than literally only having a couple of lines in the whole thing.

Cagliostro · 11/04/2017 17:02

Dammit why is DH working Monday Angry

IAmNotAUserNumber · 11/04/2017 17:37

I don't know why some people are STILL so convinced that Joe Miller didn't kill Danny, and is covering for his son to this day grin I don't think there's ever been an indication that Joe's numerous confessions have been anything but genuine.
I don't understand either Heyroly

ScrambledSmegs · 11/04/2017 18:09

I don't know why some people are STILL so convinced that Joe Miller didn't kill Danny, and is covering for his son to this day grin I don't think there's ever been an indication that Joe's numerous confessions have been anything but genuine.

Only because it seemed like such a cop-out. The US remake of Broadchurch, whilst being a bit pants, did resolve the whole sorry mess a lot better. The big problem I had with the initial 'big reveal' is that they caught him because he turned on Danny's phone. Why would he do that? It made no sense - unless he turned on the phone to find out who it belonged to.

The majority of the conversation between Joe Miller and Mark Latimer occurred off-screen. We saw Mark asking Joe why he didn't tell the police what he'd just told Mark, but we didn't hear what he told Mark. It may have been a confession, it may have been something else.

Also, as I've said, I've read a few things from the production team that hint at a conclusion that would involve the murder of Danny. Apparently it was originally conceived as a trilogy, that may or may not suggest that the first series has some loose ends.

It may well be because I've seen far too many shows with big twists, where nothing is as it seems. I can't help being suspicious though.

ScrambledSmegs

I think there needs to be some sort of dramatic conclusion next week.

Otherwise IMO the whole thing has been rather underwhelming

I think the first series was good if somewhat over rated, the second series really bad and this final series is an opportunity to go out on a high.

I've found this series so far has dragged, there are far to many suspects that haven't been eliminated at this point- it hasn't really moved forward .

I would hope that it all somehow ties into the original Danny storyline otherwise I feel that too much time has been spent with the Millers rather on the main rape storyline.

SpanishFly · 11/04/2017 19:26

Huge plothole - Trish had a light shining on her while being raped.
And all the women who went on the solidarity walk thought it was a great idea to all shine lights at her Hmm

APlaceOnTheCouch · 11/04/2017 20:41

They didn't know about the light during the rape. The police didn't release the details.
The solidarity walk made me cry. So many women trying to carry the emotional burdens of inadequate men - whether weak fathers (Katie/Leah/Miller) shady cheating partners (Jim/taxi man) or disappointing sons (Miller) Sad

SpanishFly · 11/04/2017 21:06

But whether or not they knew, Trish would have been at the very least a bit upset or affected by all the lights shining on her. But there was no reaction to it.

cadnowyllt · 11/04/2017 22:15

So many women trying to carry the emotional burdens of inadequate men - whether weak fathers (Katie/Leah/Miller) shady cheating partners (Jim/taxi man) or disappointing sons (Miller)

If it wasn't a completely true story - you might think it was scripted that way.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 11/04/2017 22:33

Cad I'm aware it's a drama - thanks Hmm

cadnowyllt · 11/04/2017 22:36

Yeah right.

Missanneshirley · 11/04/2017 23:19

They definitely said "one of our men's DNA " about the sick - they only got DNA from party guests and until tonight cocky boy (Leo?) had not admitted being at the party - so he wouldn't have dna on file?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/04/2017 08:08

Yes hardy definitely said that 'one of our men's Dna was on the sock' - I rewound it back to check.

So it's not going to be an 11th hour new suspect, it's going to be one of the guys- although we don't know whether it's foot dna (from playing football) - anyone could have stolen the sock.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 12/04/2017 09:20

I think the sock will be a red herring because the person lost their sock or gave it to Twine-Boy for washing . . .
My prediction is that the bag LH found is going to have the incriminating DNA/evidence.

Elendon · 12/04/2017 09:30

Have been catching up with the last two episodes as the internet wasn't on whilst I was doing my house move.

I don't think they will charge the rapist as there will insufficient evidence to bring the case forward. There certainly will be no time for a trial. Which, of course, will be frustrating, but that is certainly how things go in real life.

Loved the 'reclaim the night' scene. Can't wait for next Monday.

michelle303 · 12/04/2017 10:14

I think it's the vicar. I just have a feeling.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 12/04/2017 11:10

I'd be disappointed if it's the vicar.* Statistically it's unlikely and also it would tip it into lurid nonsense like Series 2 whereas so far it's been more like Series 1. I think the vicar is there to show the emotional fall-out of crimes which was always supposed to be Broadchurch's focus. How can you maintain your faith when awful things happen to good people? When church attendance is falling? When you can't give explanations for all the suffering in the local community never mind in the wider world?

*Plus he's Rory!

MusicToMyEars800 · 12/04/2017 11:11

I've just caught up, and the suspense is killing me Grin roll on next Monday! I don't think it was jim or Ed. I felt emotional at the united scene with all the women and also thought about the lights on the phone, but how were they all to know about the light during the rape?! Mark is annoying me with all the self pity and beth was spot on with what she said to the vicar... I don't see the purpose of him in this series he's hardly been in it ( maybe he's gone rogue and is the rapist ) I reckon there is something dodgy going on with Ian and clive and Jim ( did you see the porn mag with the teenage girls? ) maybe Hardy's daughters pic has been circulated etc. If it does turn out to be Hardy ( very unlikely ) I will be extremely disappointed and pissed off!

CoolCarrie · 12/04/2017 11:21

As pp said there really needs to be a dramatic conclusion or people, including myself, are going to feel cheated, investing hours into this series.

SoulAccount · 12/04/2017 11:50

"So it's not going to be an 11th hour new suspect, it's going to be one of the guys"

But could be any of the 50 at the party.
What about the caterers?
Also yes, the DNA on the sock could be from one of them, but still not be proof of the rapist.

IAmNotAUserNumber · 12/04/2017 12:39

I think they asked Rope Boy for a sample when he get first questioned him, on the ground that Miller didn't like him.

Waitingforsherlock · 12/04/2017 12:39

Think it will lose all credibility if it isn't one of the suspects in the frame. I can't see why it wouldn't be either. IMO this series has been on a par with S1 and I hope the reveal will be as good as the rest of it has been.
Please not the vicar... Unlikely I hope.

Missanneshirley · 12/04/2017 12:56

I'm still holding out for it being the guy from the band !
Also think lenny Henry's daughter is maybe setting him up?

Msqueen33 · 12/04/2017 12:59

I'm desperate for Monday. Surely the porn going around has something to do with it.
