Previous Homeland thread - new thread for the sake of inter-episode tidiness.

Hmm. I get more of a Bannon type whiff off him. Irish type name, dishevelled and seems to have a more political purpose than Alex Ratings Jones.
Am following this on rte as well. Only an hour and a half to go!

Lweji · 11/04/2017 20:08

And the government is creating gays with oestrogen-like additives:

Drink juice and you end up wearing lipstick, men. Even become capable of having babies.

I think Angry Radio Man is a cross between Alex Jones and Steve Bannon.

SoulAccount · 11/04/2017 20:44

Why did Carrie even need to go and look at the van in the garage? Quinn had told her, he had pics.

Why hadn't they got rid of /stripped down the van, as already asked?

If that is Sekou's usual van, how come Sekou didn't notice it was swapped? That his pics weren't there, etc?

A whole cell of Black Ops guys infiltrated by terrorists? They must have all known about the van? Is Dar evil enough to create a terrorist attack just to discredit Carrie? Or else incompetent enough to have an entire house load of terrorist infiltrators in the CIA?

I feel there is going to be some sort of Big Reveal that shows that Dar has been acting for good in the bigger picture, albeit getting up to dodgey stuff to guard his CIA sovereignty agains the PE.

Maybe he has been discrediting / distracting Carrie as a way to get her out of the way so he can do the Really Big Reveal about Saul.

7Days · 11/04/2017 20:49

The van. Would Sekou have an absolutely pristine van? No chwing gum wrappers on the floor, a cd, spare jumper. Not plausible

relaxo · 12/04/2017 14:52

Considering that Carrie has experience of not being believed because of her mental illness, you'd think that she would trust Peter more. She saw the guy through the gun scope and Peter's photo and how would Peter know about the keys if he'd never been in the house?
She also knew Sekou in real life so should know that he wasn't a terrorist and clearly murdered. We know from recent events that suicide bombers aren't denying allegiance to ISIS. Sekou's videos were anti US foreign policy but not advocating violence. Agree with his car being too clean. Sekou's room was tidy but I think that he'd notice a scuff being gone or seat position not being quite right.

I17neednumbers · 12/04/2017 15:41

I don't think Carrie disbelieved Peter by the time they were looking down the gunscope did she? It was more that she disagreed on the right course of action - she wanted to tell the Solicitor General (naive for someone with Carrie's experience!) and not have Peter be tried for murder; whereas Peter's main was to kill woolly. But you're right that she assumed he was paranoid earlier on.

How did Sekou even 'know' that the fake van was 'his' van? Was it just parked in the same place as usual? I think if the seat was moved you'd just assume someone else had been in it for some reason - and as I remember he jumped in and off he went, so probably wasn't really focused on whether there should be chewing gum wrappers on the floor.

Thinking back to previous Homeland series, they don't always end with a 'twist', do they? So I think Dar will stay "mainly-Bad-Dar-but-good-where-Quinn's-life-is-at-stake". (Although hang on, didn't he even risk Quinn's life by telling Woolly that he'd just been at his flat a couple of episodes ago? If he really cared wouldn't he have kept quiet about that?)

Lweji · 12/04/2017 20:32

Sekou's van was a company van, parked at the company's park.
He had been away, so it's not likely that it would be full of his stuff or kept to his specs.

SoulAccount · 13/04/2017 14:27

Oh, ffs I accidentally posted this on a thread about cake smash photos:

I love the way Quinn says 'Carrie '.
It may be since he had his stroke.
He says 'Carrieeee' with an infinitesimal extra emphasis on the R' and 'e' sounds, a bit like a toddler. It is v endearing.

Lweji · 13/04/2017 15:40
Grin And what a smashing post it was.

ZilphasHatpin · 13/04/2017 18:03

I've been trying to work out how they got sekou's van. They must have either had some of their own on the inside of the company or paid someone in the company off to allow them access.

ZilphasHatpin · 13/04/2017 18:06

And also I don't understand why wooly hat went to the van lock up (that night Quinn followed him and took photos) was he planting the bomb after they had already swapped the vans? Why didn't they install the bomb before? It's a big risk having to access the lock up a second time to install a bomb.

I17neednumbers · 13/04/2017 18:07

Hmm, why did they even substitute a different van - couldn't they just have wired Sekou's van up? I had assumed that was what woolly hat was doing when Peter followed him to the yard - it didn't occur to me that he was moving vans about. Either way they must have had an insider, but I suspect that would not be difficult for the CIA to organise!

I will be very upset if Peter dies on Sunday. But I suspect the focus on his miserable childhood etc may be leading up to that - tragic life, tragic end to life etc.

ZilphasHatpin · 13/04/2017 18:11

Even better question! I hadn't even considered that! If they had to get in to install the bomb then they might as well have installed it in sekou's van. It doesn't make sense. Do you think the writers were running out of ways to tie it up towards the end?

I17neednumbers · 13/04/2017 18:26

Hmm, well the writers needed something for Peter to discover at the secret hidey house, and I suppose you can't miss a van! The car keys might not have had the same dramatic impact..

ZilphasHatpin · 13/04/2017 18:32

True! I'm getting that sinking feeling about the final episode. I don't think they'll be tying up any looses ends wrt what feels like quite a few holes in the story.

Lweji · 13/04/2017 20:19

Final episode spoiler: I can assure you that nothing sunk in the making of the final episode.

Second spoiler: I fell asleep watching it last night from the last week recap. Blush Yes, it was that late and, yes, I was that tired.

Looking forward to this evening when DS is in bed.

Welshcake77 · 13/04/2017 20:38

I'm watching it now 🙈

Charley50 · 14/04/2017 10:17

PE facially really reminds me of a character in the Simpsons, can't remember her name. Is it just me?

ninjapants · 14/04/2017 10:53

I watched the finale a couple of days ago (I'm working on Sunday night), tis good, you won't be disappointed!

Chavelita · 14/04/2017 12:47

PE facially really reminds me of a character in the Simpsons, can't remember her name. Is it just me?

I don't think I've ever really seen The Simpsons, but for me, it's her long upper lip that's distinctive.

If I'm right and the PE succeeds in getting sworn in because Quinn dies in saving her, then does Carrie get offered a White House job? And if so, does she take it - is that the next season> And they can reuse the old West Wing sets...?

And by then Carrie's helpful sister will have come home from Rome, and can take care of Frannie, who will have outlived her usefulness as a Dar Adal pawn, so Carrie can race around having fun with Josh, Sam, Toby and CJ saving people, without having to leave Max or traumatised former Black Ops agents babysitting. Grin

Actually, I would adore a West Wing/Homeland mash-up. Can you imagine Josh saying 'Are you off your meds again?' every time Carrie popped up with something outlandish, and Toby and Saul having a beard-off about policy?

ZilphasHatpin · 14/04/2017 13:13

And then brody will come back and they will still think he is a terrorist and Carrie will love him again and her job in the White House will be in jeopardy as they suspect she is plotting with him to kill the president. Yes? Grin

Hassled · 14/04/2017 13:27

I was reading some link or other this morning about famous people who have featured in the West Wing and one of them was the actor who played Abu Nazir - he was the mysterious man who approached Josh in Germany. So yes, there has to be scope for Carrie to do the Walk&Talk with Josh. That's my dream TV show.

I love the serious post about how Quinn says Carrieeee on the cake-smashing thread :o

I sense we're going to need more thread. Anyone feel like starting one ahead of Sunday so we're good to go?
