Previous Homeland thread - new thread for the sake of inter-episode tidiness.

Maybe rogue, or Dar misjudged his endgame, or has been dethroned? Or was used?

I17neednumbers · 27/03/2017 09:35

Woolly hat is controlled by the radio man's organisation I expect - a shadowy outfit no doubt. So yes Dar has been used.

And yes, stay safe Max!

SoulAccount · 27/03/2017 09:45

I agree, I don't think Dar would have made that visit to the Cabin if he was just going to waste Quinn.

I think though, that bus the rescue from hospital, the visit with the 'I love you' shtick and telling him about Carrie and the coma, that he is trying to re-establish Quinn as his asset.

Dar may not have known how much Quinn knew about woolly hat and the van, but if WH is working for the Right wing radio man / shady bunker organisation he will know, because the FBI guy let it be known at the shady bunker that he was looking for the blue truck.

So woolly hat needed Quinn dead, maybe without letting Dar know about the breach (I.e how far Quinn is on to him).

Dar controlling the Frannie thing to make Carrie put loyalty with F over Quinn.

But Quinnvincible is on his Mission!

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 27/03/2017 10:04

That makes sense.

Good to see Quinn back in action.

UnGoogleable · 27/03/2017 10:14

I think your analysis is spot on Soul - I agree that Dar is trying to re establish Quinn as his asset, and that Woolly Hat went off script.

What I'm not sure about is why Dar is involved with Woolly Hat in the first place. Do we really believe that Dar was behind the NYC bomb?

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 27/03/2017 10:19

It was media guy, together with Dar.

Hassled · 27/03/2017 10:22

Zebra - if your bell starts tolling for Max I will be very very upset. I don't want to hear even a tiny tinkle of a bell.

I'd been baffled by the list of names, so thanks for clearing that up for me. And I hadn't clocked that Dar using the open line might be deliberate - that would explain the petulant chucking of the phone when Woolly Hat Man hung up quickly. But would he really know that Quinn would be using Astrid's techie car stuff?

And am I right in thinking that Quinn showed Dar some sort of bullet wound in his upper chest? So he gets shot, bobs under water for longer than your average lung capacity could manage, makes a petrol bomb, steals some serious shit guns, breaks into Dar's house etc all with a significant wound? What a man.

I'm sooo late to this party- just spent the morning reading through this thread & im ready to report for spy duty. And I'm not just dipping my toe delicately into the fray - I'm going full on lunatic fringe & am going with Zil in my belief that Brody is ALIVE!

My paranoid delusional thinking on that stems from an article waaaaay back when DM had revealed he'd signed up for 7 seasons but at the time he was telling people not to read too much into that as it doesn't mean brody would feature in or last 7 seasons. This is season 6 isn't it? Well, my thinking is, we are primed to get the biggest shock comeback of TV history I scorn bobby ewing's shower dream reincarnation at the end of this season & find out that brody has managed to wangle a staged hanging & new life because he somehow knew of dar's shady past & used it for his get out of death row jail free pass.

I have absolutely no evidence of anything whatsoever but it always bothered me that we never saw Brody brought down, declared dead etc. He's gonna come back I tell ye.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 27/03/2017 14:42

I don't want Brody back.

That book's been closed ages ago.

I do, however, and it pains me to say it, am beginning to have some, just some, doubts about Saul being bad. Blush

ZilphasHatpin · 27/03/2017 15:34

Nooooooo!! Saul is good. He is good! Can't you feel it in your bones?

Btw, has Saul ever killed anyone in homeland? I can't recall him doing that.

If they did bring brody back it would have to for one hell of a reason. I mean he'll have to save us from a giant asteroid or something. They can't just have him coming back to do more sneaking round and have us asking is he/isnt he a terrorist.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 27/03/2017 15:38

I'm coming the other way round Zilpha.

I was 112% convinced he was bad until the last couple of episodes, now I'm beginning to have some doubts.

ZilphasHatpin · 27/03/2017 15:46

Oh so you were in the Saul is bad camp!! His goodness is seeping through your defences.

Knifegrinder · 27/03/2017 16:30

I think the show should be reinvented with Max in the lead. Max is actually rather hot, with the glasses and stubble and extreme fidelity to Carrie and tragic lost love (poor Farah!), and he's done far better undercover in Rightwing Troll Central than the dead CIA guy (or than Carrie would, even assuming her IT skills were up to it - she's so conspicuous and blonde and purposeful-walking-y) -- he does flawless 'blameless tech nerd in a flannel shirt' body language.

And I love that he didn't do heroic things while mourning F -- that he just did drugs and masturbated. He's got a tragic past, flawless IT skills, he can build you a security system and babysit your four-year-old/your PSTD-stricken friend, and he has nice stubble and bone structure.

If the writers kill him off, I will be extremely displeased.

I couldn't decide whether the shrink Carrie was talking to at the beginning as part of her psych eval was CIA/CIA-approved, or just your average social services shrink. Surely with C being ex-CIA, she'd have signed the official secrets act, so would have to have a CIA-approved shrink, or not be able to say anything for fear of letting cats out of bags all over...?

Either way, she didn't do herself a lot of favours -' I had an intense relationships with Frannie's father, and then I got him killed, and , whoops, here's another complex, damaged PSTD sufferer I keep in my basement, with whom I also have an intense relationship...'

ZilphasHatpin · 27/03/2017 16:37

Yes max really is a bit of an unsung hero isn't he? He's fab. Chandler Bing only dreams of being like max.

TheSpottedZebra · 27/03/2017 16:45

I don't think we've seen Saul kill anyone himself, but we've certainly known that he has approved killings.
Glorious Hair for one - didn't he watch over the car as it was shot to smithereens?

And all the drone stuff - they were all ordering and approving killings. And wasn't Saul getting Quinn to kill people, that time when Carrie's name was swapped in?

But it is only Quinn and Dar who were black ops (I think). So the others tended to not get their hands quite as dirty.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 27/03/2017 16:46

Carrie was the drone queen, too.

Knifegrinder · 27/03/2017 17:00

Perhaps we will see Saul and the PE standing cackling over Dar as they pump him full of lead using Quinn's shoplifted arsenal....?

DH and I were giggling from the first seconds of Dar and Javadi's elaborate room service breakfast, complete with muesli and giant glasses of orange juice, and Javadi prattling happily about his $45 million and his Costa Rican hideaway. Surely even the dopiest double asset doesn't have breakfast unarmed with an internationally-infamous amoral rat who no longer has any need of him, and lets him hop up to answer an unexpected ring at the door? Duh!

Also, my Israeli friend keeps saying, why are the Mossad continually depicted as mixed up with hotel laundry? Grin

Lweji · 27/03/2017 18:50

I do, however, and it pains me to say it, am beginning to have some, just some, doubts about Saul being bad.

He'd have to be one motherfucker evil conspirator if he was bad, at this point. But, you never know what twists those mind bending writers could come up with .

Lweji · 27/03/2017 18:51

Another thought, maybe Angry Radio man is supposed to have an ever changing fake accent. To show how fake the character is.

Lweji · 27/03/2017 18:54

Perhaps we will see Saul and the PE standing cackling over Dar as they pump him full of lead using Quinn's shoplifted arsenal.

Not sure. Agent being shot while hidden in car booth has already been done.
Maybe he'll be mistaken by a middle eastern terrorist and killed by Angry Radio man's mob. Or shot by at man.

I have a slight suspicion about PE's chief of staff. He's been too discreet so far for the actor that plays him, IMO. I think he'll have a bigger role in the last episodes. Maybe.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 27/03/2017 19:00

I still can't get over the glasses accident.
It's my main reason in believing in Saul's badness.

Welshcake77 · 27/03/2017 20:12

What glasses incident Chardonnay?

ZilphasHatpin · 27/03/2017 20:25

When the female terror inmate woman killed herself using saul's glasses. She convinced him to have some agreement thing signed before she would give info or something and while he was off doing it she used his glasses to Kill herself. It was yonks ago so I may have some of that wrong.

Hassled · 27/03/2017 20:48

I've remembered the cucumber thing. It was around the time Quinn had quit the service for the first or maybe second time (I can't remember why), and was hanging out in a motel and shagging his comely landlady. There was a random lingering shot of Quinn standing behind a cucumber. It made no sense at the time and still doesn't unless the cucumber represented his ferrety angst or something. In my head it's associated with him doing his Carrie Heartbreak Black Ops mission to Syria shortly afterwards, but I'm almost certainly wrong.

ZilphasHatpin · 27/03/2017 20:49

I vaguely remember the cucumber too but only because of the MN thread at the time Grin
