Previous Homeland thread - new thread for the sake of inter-episode tidiness.

She really should have a cape shouldn't she?

Travelledtheworld · 26/03/2017 23:04

I bet there are a load of professional Trolls in GCHQ too. Stalking and trolling people to see if they give away secrets.

TheSpottedZebra · 26/03/2017 23:05

Just watched +1.
Maybe my bell tolled a bit too prematurely for Javadi? Maybe it ought to just have been a little bicycle bell going ding dong, and he'll only be a bit tortured? Is that being overly optimistic?
Are Mossad really that obsessed by hotel laundries?

Travelledtheworld · 26/03/2017 23:07

UnGoogleable yes I clocked that rather nasty Brodie reference too.

Travelledtheworld · 26/03/2017 23:09

Zebra Javadi is probably being boiled alive in a commercial laundry.
I reckon Mossad will get Dar in the end too.... fingernails go first.

TheSpottedZebra · 26/03/2017 23:09

That was Shock Jock at the mysterious sock puppet building, wasn't it, doing the interview?

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 26/03/2017 23:13

How many episodes left?

TheSpottedZebra · 26/03/2017 23:17

I've been looking at old threads and I have no idea of what the cucumber thing actually was. Yet I seemed to mention it a lot. Mystery.

Trollspoopglitter · 26/03/2017 23:20

Yay, actual semi real believable stuff tonight - like head of super spy central can actually clock a bad liar's (PE) body language, he can fuck up because someone does know him and how to push his buttons (I loves you peeeeter!) and politicians aren't bright but they are self-serving arse holes. Can't possibly do anything to "vouch" for you Carrie, but mind destroying the former head of CIA and your mentor as a favour to me? For the good of the nation too and shit.

TheSpottedZebra · 26/03/2017 23:20

Wasn't other ginger bloke just some guy she picked up (was it in a shop?) And shagged on the stairs? That's all he was, just a shag, and not Brodie.

Earth Angel Jonas was of course blond. And sent from heaven, and he's possibly gone back there.
Otto also has vanished. Was he a red herring? Do Germans eat herring? I guess - ja.

TheSpottedZebra · 26/03/2017 23:22

Why did Quinn get blood from Astrid and blob it onto his lip?
It was as if he was blooding himself like they do when they go hunting and make their 1st kill. 'Cept he didn't kill her, and he has killed before.

UnGoogleable · 26/03/2017 23:53

That was Shock Jock at the mysterious sock puppet building, wasn't it, doing the interview?

Yes it was. With the appalling shifting accent.

It never fails to amaze me when top notch shows like Homeland have shite actors on them. It's not as if there isn't a massive pool of good actors out there just desperate for a break. David Morrissey on The Walking Dead was another one - why employ an unknown (in the US) scouser who can't do an American accent for toffee - surely they could have found a few homegrown southerners to do it for them?!

Lweji · 27/03/2017 00:01

3 episodes left.

Summerof85 · 27/03/2017 00:13

I spotted the Brodie death reference too. Dar is really too clever isn't he, regarding PE and also manipulating Quinn. Also Carrie will miss the appointment. Poor Saul, he seems to be left out of everything although was wondering about how they got a meeting with PE. Apart from that, I just love Homeland!

ZilphasHatpin · 27/03/2017 00:17

Only 3 episodes!! Shock Sad

Why did Quinn wait at the lake house for the police to arrive? Why didn't he just take off as soon as he could during the night?

yumyumpoppycat · 27/03/2017 07:35

hmmm I dont think Carrie will miss the appointment, the appointment has been set up to distract her from something.

yumyumpoppycat · 27/03/2017 07:38

I was also wondering how they got meeting with PE, and were believed, given that she wanted nothing to do with them.

Welshcake77 · 27/03/2017 08:31

Interesting theory about the appointment yumyum

What was the list of names that Dar had for the PE? Can't remember what that was about.

Knifegrinder · 27/03/2017 08:41

Dar's list of names was of other people he was recommending for key government positions, including Secretary of State, because if the PE was going to have to change her foreign policy in view of Javadi's 'revelation', her previous nominee wouldn't be hawkish enough.

That was why she was supposed to fake Dar along during that meeting, in order to get the list out of him, and see who else might be on Dar's 'side'. Honestly, presumably you don't get to be PE without pretending all kinds of stuff all the time, but if her 'acting friendly to Dar' schtik was any hammier, she'd have had to throw herself into his slimy arms, saying 'I've always found beards strangely attractive....'

How hard would it have been not to do anything new? To NOT bob up and down serving him coffee and hovering like a butler, and then give him the hairy eyeball???

SoulAccount · 27/03/2017 08:47

True. But then his obsequious charming act was equally laughable, from the previous meeting, too. What a gaffe: trying so hard that he assumed she was offering him a stiff drink at breakfast!

Uncharacteristic mistake if Dar's: to call woolly hat on an open line!

Please, Max, be OK....

I17neednumbers · 27/03/2017 08:52

Yumyum you are clever. Yes I think the Frannie appointment will show that Carrie can develop as a person - she will be there, and Dar will find out about it and organise his counter coup for 3pm. Saul will then have to come to the rescue and regain his place as top Lion.

I assume Quinn didn't move all night because he was so traumatised. Not sure why he carried Astrid into the house - but I imagine he wasn't thinking too clearly at that point.

Did Dar betray Quinn by telling woolly hat man he was still alive? Maybe that was why Dar called him on an open line - he guessed that Quinn would be listening in, having stolen Astrid's super spy phone, and wanted Quinn to go and kill him? Either way he's still using Quinn.

Welshcake77 · 27/03/2017 08:54

Ah ok that makes sense now thanks knifegrinder she does seem a bit of an amateur when it comes to dealing with these people!

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 27/03/2017 09:14

I'm still Hmm as to why Dar went to all the trouble to bring in Astrid and get Quinn out of hospital and then try to kill him.

Unless he only wanted Astrid killed so he can set up Quinn for something bigger.

TheSpottedZebra · 27/03/2017 09:22

I don't think that Dar did try to kill Quinn, Char - that bit seemed a surprise to him, no?
So like Saul, we see that Dar's grip on power is not absolute - he has been betrayed or outplayed by Woolly Hat Man.

Who I predict a death for next. Go Quinn!

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 27/03/2017 09:25

So Woolly Hat went rogue?
