Previous Homeland thread - new thread for the sake of inter-episode tidiness.

Not sure why he threw the bullets in the lake though - he would have done better to keep them for later surely

I think it was paranoia from when He shot into the street at carries house. He didn't want to find himself in charge of a loaded gun again as he didn't trust himself.

HalleLouja · 20/03/2017 09:28

Wasn't Peter (as Astrid called him) married or have a child with someone before we knew him? Didn't he have a different name then? For some reason I thought the name on the passport was that name.

HalleLouja · 20/03/2017 09:28

Oh no it wasn't. He was called John in his prior life.

ginghamstarfish · 20/03/2017 09:36

I think the passport name was David Bailey ...

I17neednumbers · 20/03/2017 09:38

I'd forgotten that halle. Was there some sub-plot where Carrie was following him and it turned out he was visiting the ex and son? Or have I misremembered/confused it with Desperate Housewives?!

Hmm, does that (marriage and child) really fit with his 'new' backstory - 'new' because I think Dar only mentioned it in the last series when Quinn was lying in a coma.

ZilphasHatpin · 20/03/2017 10:59

Yes that's right. His wife/ex wife was a police woman.

MrsMarigold · 20/03/2017 11:20

I remember that extraordinary - he was John wasn't he? I struggled a bit with it yesterday - I was very upset about Astrid.

HalleLouja · 20/03/2017 11:44

Peter should have learned from the Hot Bearded Joggers (RIP). Don't mention anything to do with emotions etc as you or someone close to you will die.

Lweji · 20/03/2017 17:26

It's David Ekley in the passport, apparently.

From a recap that coins the great expression Quinnvincible. Grin

I17neednumbers · 20/03/2017 19:21

As the homeless man says to Javadi, "The King can move where he wants. And you can't predict the King".

Suspect that will turn out to be very prophetic - but who is going to be 'the King' in this scenario? Quinn? Saul?

Maybe Saul's admirer in the CIA will save the day - though he is more of a Prince I suppose.

Hassled · 20/03/2017 19:32

I like the theory that Woolly Hat is maybe there on behalf of someone other than Dar - but why would far right extremists want him dead? There's no motive there, is there? Although I think Far Right TV bloke will have a wider reach than we've seen so far - he'll be puppet-master of someone/something, I'm sure.

I have no memory of Quinn's wife and son. He doesn't strike me as the paternal type somehow.

And I think PE is responding in a fairly realistic manner to what she's been told - I'm surprised she trusts anyone at all at this stage. She certainly has no real reason to trust Carrie.

I think the king will be dar. He seems to be doing as he pleases with unpredictability.

Hassled · 20/03/2017 20:28

But Homeland can't carry on indefinitely with Dar as some sort of sinister despot - by the next season they'll need to move on from the Dar Is Bad storyline, and the only way to do that is to kill him, so I think the bell will toll for Dar by the end of the series. And Quinn is mad enough to do it.

OP posts:
ZilphasHatpin · 20/03/2017 20:33

I agree, I think Quinn will kill dar this season.

SoulAccount · 20/03/2017 20:50

Frothing Far Right Guy would want Quinn dead if he knows Quinn has sussed the surveillance and the evidence that Woolly Hat went to the van depot to plant the bomb.

The FBI guy made a huge huge mistake in saying what he was looking for - the blue truck - when he went to the spooky place. He blew their cover. By now Woolly hat et al will know who Quinn is because of the fracas outside Carrie's flat.

Great work on the chess metaphor.

Yes, Quinn will kill the man who created him....it's Hamlet meets Frankenstein.

I don't suppose Carrie has considered giving up her high risk job, moving away from the scene of Franny's trauma and making a case as a SAHM? As a way to get the court to return Franny?

SoulAccount · 20/03/2017 20:51

Not Hamlet. Lion King.
Dar = Scar.

Lweji · 20/03/2017 21:13

Yes, Quinn will kill the man who created him....it's Hamlet meets Frankenstein.

More like Star Wars A New Hope meets The Force Awakens.
Good pupil kills bad master.

TheSpottedZebra · 20/03/2017 21:25

Oi, I am in charge of bell - tolling! And I hear it for Javadi next.

He said something like 'I'm fed up with running', or I choose not to spend my life on the run. He's just had his fingernails pulled out, and had guns printed at his head. He was saved, only to shoot his saviour.

Maybe he is the king, whose move cannot be predicted? But someone else (Dar?) Is the player. Hence Javadi moves out from Saul's protection. And, er, checkmate. Or more probably, bang.

Also, his storyline is over. We know as much as we need to know about the Iranian deal.

ZilphasHatpin · 20/03/2017 21:26

Zebra any chance you could channel your powers to see if anyone is coming back from the dead?

TheSpottedZebra · 20/03/2017 21:27

I still don't get the Saul/Max thing. Saul is meant to be old-school, good at trad spy craft. He'd have seen Max, known he was in the service, yet he didn't recognise him.

Has he dementia or something?

TheSpottedZebra · 20/03/2017 21:32

I've spoken to the other side Zil
Brodie remains deaded.

Good thing, really, as we might have to suffer his oldest 2 kids again. And they were really annoying.

ZilphasHatpin · 20/03/2017 21:48

Ah fuck. Well thanks for doing that anyway zebra

And yes to those whiny kids! I actually put on s1e1 last night with a view to watching the whole thing from the start again. Nope. Couldn't cope with the kids and his mardy wife. Had to switch it off.

Welshcake77 · 20/03/2017 21:53

Saul didn't haven anything to do with Max until now though did he? Isn't Max Virgil's nephew or cousin or something and Virgil only brought him in when Carrie went off doing her own surveillance thing? He's doesn't actually work for the CIA does he?

TheSpottedZebra · 20/03/2017 21:57

That was his gift -a message to you from beyond the grave, Zil.
Generous to a fault, was Brodie.

Hassled · 20/03/2017 21:57

No, Max was in Islamabad, wasn't he? Didn't he love Fara (? was that her name?) who was killed? That doesn't mean Saul would necessarily have known him though.
