Previous Homeland thread - new thread for the sake of inter-episode tidiness.

Max is Virgil's younger brother but he has actually been in the show right from episode one! He fitted the bugging equipment in Brodie's house with Virgil. Carrie said something along the lines of "what the fuck?" When she saw him (and saw that he wasn't Virgil's usual team) and Virgil said something like "what do you expect for (I think) £1000?"

Hassled · 20/03/2017 21:58

And yes, Brodie is definitely pushing up the daisies. Assuming of course that daisies grow under pine trees.

Why do I remember this shit from a tv show 5/6 years ago? Some days I forget to put my DC toned Confused Blush

ZilphasHatpin · 20/03/2017 22:00

Yes max loved fara in Islamabad.

Lweji · 20/03/2017 22:00

At least Carrie is convinced he's dead. That's obvious.

ZilphasHatpin · 20/03/2017 22:01

to bed

ZilphasHatpin · 20/03/2017 22:01

Tbf if I saw someone hanged I'd reckon they were dead too.

TheSpottedZebra · 20/03/2017 22:02

He LOVED Fara so much. I loved her a bit too -she was a great character.
I did totally miss the whole Max and Virgil brother thing, and only found out this series.

I still maintain that Saul should have recognised him, and the fact he didn't, is significant.

I wish I could filterable the useless crap out of my brain, to make way for good things, or useful things. I can still name all of Jordan's children's, for chrissakes!

TheSpottedZebra · 20/03/2017 22:03

^ names. That is the word missing from the above post.

bigmack · 20/03/2017 22:04

'I still maintain that Saul should have recognised him, and the fact he didn't, is significant. '

Agree. Something isn't right.

Lweji · 20/03/2017 22:12

What does it mean, then?

It's not the real Saul? He's got dementia?
Max is fake?

A writer forgot they met at some point?

I17neednumbers · 20/03/2017 22:25

I like the Lion King analogy. As Scar kills bearded Mufasa, Dar is destroying Saul's career and credibility. Something like that. Leaving Quimba to bounce in and get revenge I think. And Carrie can be that girl/young woman lion whose name I temporarily can't remember, who marries Simba.

Or maybe the young CIA Prince is being groomed for Simba's role - I'm running with that idea now, it would make sense to bring in some new young CIA blood as a main character. He is Saul's only friend in the CIA now.

Yes Javadi won't last much longer - but I wonder who will kill him? Iranians (a new lot as the previous ones are now all dead)? Dar?

I17neednumbers · 20/03/2017 22:27

I don't know that Saul and Max did ever meet.
But I do think Saul is a wounded lion being pushed out of the herd - his falling/being pushed over near the end was very symbolic. He's lethally weakened. As Javadi said, he has no friends left in the CIA.

gruffalosarse · 20/03/2017 22:49

I've just watched next weeks episode Shock no spoilers provided but series 6 is fantastic so far.

ZilphasHatpin · 21/03/2017 00:14

Maybe it actually is chandler bing? Shock

ZilphasHatpin · 21/03/2017 00:16

I thought so too. Poor granda Saul on the ground! Sad

Lioness was nala.

Welshcake77 · 21/03/2017 06:40

Thanks for jogging my memory Zilpha and hassled! How could I have forgotten about max and Farah in Islamabad?? Ok you've got me convinced there's more to it now...every piece of dialogue means something in Homeland after all!

Lweji · 21/03/2017 08:29

Maybe it actually is chandler bing?

The real Chandler Bing. Grin

TheSpottedZebra · 21/03/2017 09:15

Could the Saul Storyline be any sadder?

ZilphasHatpin · 21/03/2017 09:17

Grin zebra

Summerof85 · 21/03/2017 10:28

I watched it yesterday. I can't remember max and virgil although Fara rings a bell, my memory must be going too. I feel sorry for Saul too, it's almost like he isn't part of the CIA now. His sister said to him when he was in Israel, what have you got in your life, it seems to only be the CIA. I remember, Dar was up to bad things in the series before too was he not, when it was in Islamabad I think.

I'm upset about Astrid too, she reminds me of a young Great Scattchi. I couldn't work out why Quinn through the bullets away, maybe he thought Astrid was going to shoot him, he doesn't trust anyone.

Summerof85 · 21/03/2017 11:18

That should read Greta Scattchi Grin

Firstaidnovice · 22/03/2017 13:27

My theory on Quinn throwing away the bullets was he figured Astrid would try and stop him escaping at some point by shooting him (non fatally), so emptied the gun to stop her.

I am curious as to why dar went to some effort to keep Quinn alive, only to (seemingly) attempt to assassinate him shortly after. He doesn't seem to be in any way sentimental. So, I'm coming round to the idea there's more to it than just Dar = evil.

I also can't figure out if Seku (sp?) was part of the plan from the beginning (he must have been otherwise they wouldn't have got the undercover guy to befriend him right?), or if they planted the bomb purely to discredit Carrie. Surely too much of a coincidence that the ex CIA officer happens to find herself defending the guy the CIA are using as a patsy for bringing down the PE?

Firstaidnovice · 22/03/2017 13:29

Oh, and PS, I kind of read the Saul/max situation as Saul dissing max a bit, as in he recognised him, but was being a bit dismissive of his ability to keep Carrie safe? He recognised his power is waning and sees himself as Carrie's protector still. May be way off the mark though.

Cocolepew · 23/03/2017 20:03

Just watched last weeks episode Shock
Poor Astrid I loved Astrid Sad Im holding Zebra personally responsible.
What has Weasle Boy got that makes these women fall for him? It can't be his ability to grow facial hair.
I feel really sad about the doctored film of the PEs son Angry
At least angry tv man stuck to an accent this week, I'm just not sure what accent it was.
