All circus fair stuff is moved on lorries so must all come apart in foldable sections to fit on lorry. So imagine just parked before bridge.

I had a diaphragm in the mid 90s. It was as big as that.

Once you'd spent 20 minutes getting that bugger in you'd gone completely off the boil.

RJnomore1 · 15/03/2017 22:13

Maybe that was how it worked ivy Grin

IvyLeagueUnderTheSea · 15/03/2017 22:17

I think it was. You had a spermicide gel that you had to put around the edge and reapply if you didn't have sex withing about 3 hours. You could keep it in for about 48 hours though I think.

ppeatfruit · 16/03/2017 08:31

I was wondering why Babs didn't just go on the pill. Confused Grin

I'm sat in hospital with preeclampsia st the moment and have just read through this entire thread. I love everything about this show, it really is the best thing on tv these days. I did think the Dr Turner on the bed was a bit far fetched though, and Shelagh sat out with the baby watching the carousel IN THE SNOW! Dishy vicar is a treat for the eyes in his vest and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty, look at how he mucked in in the Christmas episode and there have been other episodes where he has been lugging boxes and doing manual stuff.

I like the idea of showing Vi going through the menopause, although did wonder in the beginning if she was going to be pregnant. My great aunt had surprise twins (pregnancy not discovered until she was 8 months gone!) and she thought it was the menopause, about this era. Shocking but not that unusual. Although they did do a surprise birth storyline two christmases ago with an older mother so possibly wouldn't do it again.

The pill storyline was heartbreaking, I didn't think the dad came across badly, he was clearly a good husband who loved his wife and daughters, I felt so sorry for him because he hadn't got a clue what was going on and was left with those three girls.

The carousel was a bit far fetched but it's a tv programme. It really didn't bother me in the grand scheme of things and I was glad to see Patsy back, hadn't realised I'd missed her so much! Agree it's a shame Miranda hart doesn't make a few cameo apppearances every once in a while, the show made her the star she is now and it's like she's turned her back on it. And I do miss the seargant when he isn't around.

ppeatfruit · 16/03/2017 12:04

Oh dear dances Hoping it goes alright with you and the LO Flowers.

I reckon that Miranda was a star before CTM because she had her own popular show didn't she?

LRDtheFeministDragon · 16/03/2017 14:39

I thought this ep was ok - enjoyable, but not that special. And it was rushed.

Phyllis presumably would struggle to buy her own house, in this period? She'd need a male guarantor. I believe you could, with a lot of faff, get around that rule, but I wonder if, having grown up presumably not super well off, she wouldn't even have thought about it like that? I do always feel sorry for her sharing a bedroom, though!

I wonder where they're going with the Delia/Patsy storyline. It just seems to meander a bit, to me.

ppeatfruit · 16/03/2017 14:46

Our Dad had no idea he could get mortgage in the early 60s and he was a teacher. It just wasn't what normal people you did then. Renting was the norm.

He was an idiot because as soon as he asked , he got one.

inaclearingstandsaboxer · 16/03/2017 14:51

@MrsMulder
I wondered that too and then I remembered it's difficult putting lipstick on when a patient has an endo tracheal tube in...would look a mess. ....

WitchSharkadder · 16/03/2017 20:43

Love CTM. I don't even care that parts of the last episodes were overly-twee, it was lovely. Yy to the dishy vicar, never noticed until the vest scene!

Does anyone know when series 5 is available on Netflix, please? I only started watching with the most recent Christmas special (because I was too full to turn over the TV Grin) but loved it and have binge-watched series 1-4 and need to see S5 ASAP.

Dancergirl · 20/03/2017 15:02

Me too witch

I didn't watch the earlier series when they were first one and have spent the last few weeks binge-watching from Series 1. I'm now up to Series 3 and they're taken off Netflix on 30th March! It'll have to be at least one episode a day for me!

Loved the earlier stuff with Chummy, marrying the policeman and having a baby boy.

You'd better get a move on miaow Grin

madamginger · 21/03/2017 13:18

Netflix only has the first 4 series

WitchSharkadder · 27/03/2017 20:49

Oh, Dancer & Miaow, hope you're getting your skates on. Maybe quit your jobs and put any DC in temporary Forster care for a few days Wink

I've been googling about S5 like mad but no answers. What's really rubbish is that US Netflix has had it since September. Hmph.

madamginger · 27/03/2017 23:23

Series 5 here Wink

Dancergirl · 28/03/2017 09:36

I am loving my CTM binge, I've been watching at least one episode a day Smile

I've caught up now to where I started watching originally around series 4 so the episodes are looking vaguely familiar.

CoolCarrie · 28/03/2017 10:58

Planning to do the same, it's a long time until the Christmas special

Smile witch

Luckily I only work very part time so have plenty of time in the daytime, much to my older dds' annoyance who are also cramming in as much as possible.

miaow I'm not sure what a Kodi box is but is CTM on there for longer than netflix?

ShelaghTurner · 28/03/2017 13:42

Everything is on Kodi, haven't checked for S6 yet but I'm sure it must be.

Dancergirl · 28/03/2017 13:53

shelagh do you know anything about S5 on Netflix? According to Google it should have been put up there last September!

Love your username btw Smile I am such a huge fan now. Love everything about the programme, the social history side, the story lines and the characters' own story lines.

Dancergirl · 28/03/2017 14:41

I don't know if anyone is interested in a CTM walking tour in London but this tour guide is fab, I've been on her walks before:

www.golondontours.com

She's thinking of setting up a CTM tour, apparently there has been a lot of demand.
