Helsinki I was going to say that I couldn't remember if Vi had any children and then I just remembered the bossy daughter who didn't want her to marry again. Or was it his daughter? Confused

I think that episode dealt very well with her hot flushes and bad temper. Sailaway

ShelaghTurner · 14/03/2017 09:04

That was Fred's daughter. Vi has a son.

HelsinkiLights · 14/03/2017 09:07

Ppea it was Fred's daughter who was the bossy one & wasn't happy with Fred getting married again. Eventually she came round & gave Fred & Violet her blessing

Clawdy · 14/03/2017 09:10

Did someone say Violet could be pregnant?? The actress who plays her is 56!

SailAwaySailAwaySailAway · 14/03/2017 09:12

Me too. That's why I don't want it to be a pregnancy. I think it's a strength as it is.

Onegreatday · 14/03/2017 09:43

SoupDragon - surely she would make an exception for such a hot vicar though... what was she thinking?!

I love his brylcreemed hair. It adds to his hotness. Without it he looks like any other atttaactive guy, but with it he looks like a hot gentleman. Imho. Yum.

ppeatfruit · 14/03/2017 09:48

Thanks everyone Blush

SoupDragon · 14/03/2017 10:26

onegreatday maybe but, OTOH, she now has a dentist with a sports car.

Onegreatday · 14/03/2017 11:21

Yeah, he's hot too Smile but ol blue eyes & dimples vicar is a dreamboat. Reminds me of my hubby so that's good!

Onegreatday · 14/03/2017 11:31

And while we're on the topic, I also liked Alex, Jenny Lee's boyfriend who was tragically killed in am accident. He was swoony too.

I always blamed Trixie's interference for leading indirectly to that accident. If she hadn't suggested the lovely Alec was trying to get his leg over on his and Jenny's forthcoming trip (I doubt it, gentlemen and all, how could Jenny think that?) they would have been away and all would have been well. Thought Trixie was jealous of Jenny and Alec's happiness and so stick the boot in.

Onegreatday · 14/03/2017 11:31

*alec

SailAwaySailAwaySailAway · 14/03/2017 12:50

I don't like Trixie. Face like a painted wooden spoon.

LittleIda · 14/03/2017 12:59

I thought she looked lovely when she had tea with the dentist's dd though.

Clawdy · 14/03/2017 13:02

I've never liked Trixie, couldn't bear the affected posh voice - "garl" and "warld" for "girl" and "world". But I started to feel sorry for her, and now really wish it was her with the vicar.

hellygolightly · 14/03/2017 13:21

I'm so sorry to read that BlueSky. Thinking of you Flowers

LittleIda · 14/03/2017 13:27

Do we have to wait til next year for the next series? I don't think I can wait that long! I may have to look out the earlier series to watch as i didn't see all of them before I got really into it.

LorLorr2 · 14/03/2017 13:33

Lucky Helen George, I had no idea until yesterday that she and mr hot vicar are an item in real life Envy

Loooved the finale, just could have done without the snow, it's no Christmas.

LorLorr2 · 14/03/2017 13:37

*not

p.s I adore Phyllis!

ppeatfruit · 14/03/2017 13:44

LorLorr The snow at the end of 1962 was terrifying it continued well into 1963. This was in London, It was piled up higher than me (I was 10 at the time) on the sides of the roads, it melted a bit then froze again, a lot, we nearly had our water cut off because of frozen pipes.

It wasn't funny. It was terrible in the countryside because so many animals were killed under the snow.

impkin · 14/03/2017 16:06

I don't like Trixie. Face like a painted wooden spoon.

Grin Oh no, I like Trixie very much. Always so stylish and immaculately groomed, too.

I think dentist chap better suited to her than the vicar, latter's personality I've always found a bit bland (sorry!)

Hulababy · 14/03/2017 16:22

Sorry to hear that blue sky; thinking of you x

Soup - I really didn't think it was a spoiler as such as it just mentioned the wedding which had been advertised all over the TV in trailers etc. and the reference to the vicar wasn't really linked to the storyline anyway. Anyway sorted now

OP posts:
impkin · 14/03/2017 16:37

Don't worry about it, OP. The imminent wedding wasn't news, it was on all the TV trailers in the days leading up to the programme on Sunday.

BBCNewsRave · 14/03/2017 17:19

I've been wondering, about the clothes. Why do nurse Crane and Mrs. Turner have a slightly different uniform (higher neckline)? I can understand why they might want to, but would that have been a choice they could make?

Also, people don't seem to be wearing enough clothes! I know they would have had vests and slips, but surely they would still be cold? Perhaps not the midwives cycling round, but others. Although to be fair, I suspect this is a general TV-land thing... Grin

I'd really like nurse Crane to end up with a baby somehow. Twins, preferably. Would have to be some wildly far fetched storyline, leaving some lovely single grandfather in charge of newborn twins.... C'mon writers, you can do it! Alternatively, how would adoption have worked then with a baby-on-the-doorstep scenario?

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 14/03/2017 17:29

With regards to Phyllis buying a house would she have been able to get a mortgage though? It may have been possible by the time frame the programme is in now but she would have been unlikely to get a mortgage before then because she would have needed a male guarantor and she doesn't have any family it would seem so nobody to do that for her. She probably enjoys the company of living in but also probably wouldn't have had much choice either.

Housewife2010 · 14/03/2017 17:46

I didn't see Helen George on Strictly. What is her voice like in real life?
