Will anyone here be watching?!

OP posts:

diddl found not guilty, then driven by Ellie up to the place he killed Danny, where everyone involved was waiting. I thought they might do an Orient Express-style murder of him, but instead they gave him money and told him to bugger off. Disappointingly Wink

diddl · 28/02/2017 18:30

Thanks.

All I can remember from that series is that there was a tall guy who put up fences!

diddl · 28/02/2017 18:32

Haha! wonder if David Tennant and Sarah Parish will be going for fish & chips?

BookABooSue · 28/02/2017 18:55

I caught up with it tonight. So many good actors in it - I love Olivia Colman and David Tennant . . .and Jodie Whittaker and Julie H.
I wondered why they made a big point about Danny's sister re-taking a year. Maybe she's going to end up involved in the underage/porn storyline and it's going to be relevant to the wider arc.

JenniferYellowHat1980 · 28/02/2017 19:30

I thought the end was poor tbh. A brand new coil of rope (that stuff is reused endlessly so you rarely see it new) and a pristine carrier bag that had apparently been there for three days? Hmm Condoms in the glove compartment very clunky. As for the 50 men comment I took it as OC rolling her eyes at the size of the task ahead. Bit disappointed tbh.

BookABooSue · 28/02/2017 21:01

Re-used rope would be more likely to carry trace evidence from where it was stored, previous uses, etc. New rope is another sign that it was premeditated.

cowgirlsareforever · 28/02/2017 21:04

Ah yes. She did know it!

RainbowJack · 28/02/2017 21:40

I wish Beth (Jodie Whittaker) wasn't in it. For some reason her constant sad face gives me irrational rage.

ElspethFlashman · 28/02/2017 22:24

It's fairly rattling along at a nice pace so far, let's hope they keep it up.

Really bored of the Latimer's.

Am I the only one who doesn't rate Sarah Parrish? She is so stiff in the jaw she can barely talk, it's distracting.

PacificDogwod · 28/02/2017 22:30

Ok, caught up! Grin still don't like DT though

It was good - I thought the whole forensic work-up and how vulnerable Trish was was handled really well (although how many towns have specialist sexual assault units with specially trained, very very nice staff?! Hmm).

Sarah Parish? Meh - I can take her or leave her, but Coleman may be my new girl crush; what an actress!

eddiemairswife · 28/02/2017 22:31

I've never taken to the Latimers. The husband has a weird mouth.

PacificDogwod · 28/02/2017 22:33

I found Beth's distress at first worrying about Danny and then finding out and having to live with his death really distressing and hard to watch tbh. I think keeping the Latimer's in the program now is a bit of a stretch though.

HemanOrSheRa · 28/02/2017 22:33

Coleman is fantastic isn't she? I've watched it again this evening. Even better the second time around!

ElspethFlashman · 28/02/2017 22:37

I much prefer Coleman to Tennant but he is quite good in this (said begrudgingly).

I like their relationship - rowing in the car etc. Feels very normal.

TinfoilHattie · 28/02/2017 22:40

Loved Series 1 of Broadchurch, series 2 was very "meh". Thought last night's was excellent. Olivia Coleman is just fab in everything and although I'm not usually a David Tennant fan their relationship is very real. Loved the way Olivia Coleman hoiked a kiddie chew bar out of her handbag to eat when she was hungry.

There's obviously more to come out - rape happened Saturday night, victim didn't come forward until Monday. Doesn't know how/when she got home. And I thought the same as everyone else on hearing there were 50 men at a party for 70 people.

HemanOrSheRa · 28/02/2017 22:48

I was impressed with Coleman's acting during the scene at her son's school. I thought she was going to explode when they were coming out.

I like DT in this. He looks like Bambi Grin. Those big lovely eyes and long lashes.

PacificDogwod · 28/02/2017 22:53

Oh, it's the Bambi look that fucking annoys me! Grin
But his acting is good, I admit.
And they are a great team - v authentic dialogue.

I'm well sucked in

IvankaTrudeau · 28/02/2017 23:06

I know what you mean Elspeth. It really worked in W1A, her character barely said more than 3 words at once and so the lack of face/jaw movement fitted well, but I'm not sure about other things.

I love the Alec/Ellie relationship. So refreshing to have a cop programme (I know broadchurch is a lot more than that) with nothing sexual between the leads.

Loopytiles · 01/03/2017 07:44

The old snack bar in depths of handbag bit reminded me of OC's great character in Green Wing! I dread becoming that character!

carabos · 01/03/2017 07:59

Does anyone know how I can watch the first two series? I'm new to Broadchurch - for some reason I thought it was supernatural type thing which I don't enjoy so didn't watch it before. I don't have Sky or anything, only freesat.
Thank you.

BookABooSue · 01/03/2017 08:03

I loved when Alec asked Ellie if she knew the victim and she said 'It isn't Trumpton!' Grin I must admit I had been wondering how she didn't know the victim because the first series gave the impression that it was a bit like Trumpton

NapQueen · 01/03/2017 08:10

carabos do you have a smartphone (not Iphone)?

If so theres a cheeky little app called Showbox. Cant download it from the appstore; need to go online and download from their website. All seasons on there.

carabos · 01/03/2017 08:12

I'm on iPhone napqueen.

Megatherium · 01/03/2017 08:12

JenniferYellowHat, I don't see how you can be disappointed about things like the rope and carrier bag unless and until you know they were mistakes. As pointed out, the fact that it was new rope looks like a very deliberate clue pointing to the farm shop that sells the stuff, and I suspect there will be something similar in relation to the bag.

carabos · 01/03/2017 08:13

I'll do that thank you. I was hoping it would be on Netflix but no joy.
