Will anyone here be watching?!

OP posts:
nigelforgotthepassword · 28/02/2017 11:50

Really enjoyed it. I still find the vicar makes me uncomfortable.

BoreOfWhabylon · 28/02/2017 11:52

Is it the same vicar? The one who was in S1 and Doctor Who?

He looks different.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 28/02/2017 11:57

Enjoyed this, but .....

A woman has been raped! What can have happened? So much mystery.....

Oh wait. It looks like she went to a party. Nuff sed.

oklumberjack · 28/02/2017 12:39

Seek, I don't think the programme inferred in anyway that Trisha was at fault for going to a party?

AnyFucker · 28/02/2017 12:43

I didn't get that impression either, tbh ( and I see victim blaming everywhere Smile )

Apart from that one ridiculous rookie detective the victim was treated very sensitively even when they knew she was clearly lying about something

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 28/02/2017 12:52

Oh no, I didn't think there was a suggestion it was her fault - and it's only a tiny niggle, but I kind of think it's a shame (and of course we don't know if the party is a red herring yet anyway) how the party invitation was the immediate and apparently correct guess at when she would have been raped. More like a suggestion - women, if you go out, you're not safe.

It reminded me of an excellent letter by Doon McKichan et al to the Guardian after Apple Tree Yard (which I also enjoyed very much) -

Our obsession with stories involving the degradation of women has reached dangerous overkill and we continue to ignite an insidious flame under it by repeating the same brutal story again and again. Another woman as terrified victim, afraid to leave her house, looking at her bruises, traumatised beyond belief. We are not safe anywhere: at the office party, in the street, at work. And woe betide us if we dare to add alcohol into the mix

3catsandcounting · 28/02/2017 12:54

Hmm - 50 men at the party for a 50th birthday. I'm going for a '50' link somewhere.

I might be talking rubbish.

Elendon · 28/02/2017 12:54

I don't think they knew she was lying about something, I think they understood that there was so much more to this than meets the eye, and that she had not said everything, totally different scenario. Obviously, once the memories came through, Trish rang Millar.

eddiemairswife · 28/02/2017 13:04

I was reading the cast list in the Radio Times, and came across Charlie Higson playing Ian Winterman...same surname as Trish. I don't recall anyone connected with her appearing.

Akire · 28/02/2017 13:18

The daughter appeared towards end of last or was it first series when he had his heart op. Can't say she really brought anything to it apart from oh now I'm concerned about my daughter theme.

It would make sense if she sort knew area to just try walk home in shock I think date rape drug and alcohol make you confused. Then stays home all day Sunday/Monday then comes too thinks need help so walks to station. But loving way a simple story has so many loop holes already!

Akire · 28/02/2017 13:18

eddie was photo in hall of her daughter and ex husband so guess he appear at some point if he's not a suspect.

eddiemairswife · 28/02/2017 13:41

Thanks

CherieBabySpliffUp · 28/02/2017 14:45

I have a question about the porn links that OC's son was sending to other students... If that happens in real life wouldn't the child get into more trouble than just being excluded for a week?
Wouldn't there be legal ramifications?

NapQueen · 28/02/2017 14:52

Not if it was legal porn.

Megatherium · 28/02/2017 15:29

If Trish had had a knock to the head so severe it had caused her to be in unconscious and she seems to have some amnesia as well wouldn't a Dr/ Hospital check her out?

They mentioned her seeing an FME, so that would have been a doctor.

Elendon · 28/02/2017 16:24

Re the sending of porn. It doesn't apply to those under 16. Miller's child is 15. Those children in school, sixth form, sending porn, would be liable to legal action, if it was to friends under sixteen.

kennypppppppp · 28/02/2017 16:41

I haven;t seen series 1 or 2 and I can't remember Olivia c's name in it or David ten inch's but how come they'd have a guest list at a party unless it was some organised thingy ... I have no clues at all.

I love Jodie Whittaker though and Sarah parish too. Not over fussed by Coleman and tennant looks very thin.
I love Julie h too. She was so under used in the Sarah Lancaster thing with Tommy lee Royce in series two. Can't remember what that programme was called either.

Sunnymeg · 28/02/2017 16:44

I'm wondering if there was more to the party than meets the eye, perhaps swingers or something more sinister, seems a very expensive place for a birthday for a farm shop worker and a mechanic. Interesting to hear Sarah Parish, who was born just down the road from where Broadchurch is filmed, using a softer West Country accent than the rest of the cast. It sounded much more authentic than some of ooh aching going on.

CoolCarrie · 28/02/2017 17:16

Sarah Parish and David Tennent were in Blackpool with David Morrisey which was an excellent series, and were a couple in RL as well

Cary2012 · 28/02/2017 17:19

Finally, good tv that makes you realise how much dross is generally churned out.

Think this series will definitely top series 2, and if it's half as good as the first series I'll be happy Coleman and Tennant are brilliant.

I agree about the fifty men at the party being odd, perhaps a sex party went wrong? Good cast, Trish was so vulnerable but is hiding something. Don't like Ellie's husband...think Lenny Henry's character will perhaps be wrongfully arrested...loads of twists and turns ahead.

Breathtaking scenery and acting am hooked already. Want it on tonight again.

diddl · 28/02/2017 17:46

Re series 2-what happened with Ellie's husband?

I know that he pleaded not guilty, but what was the outcome?

cowgirlsareforever · 28/02/2017 17:59

The place where the party was held was odd. If it was local surely Olivia Coleman would know it?

heateallthebuns · 28/02/2017 18:02

She did know it didn't she? I know she mentioned about it having another entrance.

drinkswineoutofamug · 28/02/2017 18:15

diddl he was chased out of town by the locals

NapQueen · 28/02/2017 18:16

cows she did know it. She knew the entrances, knew there was some cottages etc.
