Will anyone here be watching?!

OP posts:
HemanOrSheRa · 27/02/2017 22:10

I'm not quite finished yet. That house and grounds is beautiful though - is that in Dorset?! I'm not sure Wiggly. I live on the very outskirts of Bristol. On the Somerset border. A lot of the landscape looked familiar. Not sure about the house though.

PacificDogwod · 27/02/2017 22:15

Lalalalalalalala!

I've skipped to the end of this thread as I don't want any spoilers - we missed the first 10 minutes and decided to wait until it is available on catchup.

Can't wait although I really don't like DT's acting; frog-eyed skinny runt that he is. I know this is a minority view on here

Cagliostro · 27/02/2017 22:16

I'm terrible with face recognition. The guy who pulled up in the car at the end, with the condoms in the glovebox, and looked at a woman through the window - was that Cath and her mechanic husband? Or totally different people?

littlemissneela · 27/02/2017 22:17

I belive the house and the waterfall are here

Not open to the public though.

littlemissneela · 27/02/2017 22:18

Cagliostro

I thought it was the woman who is Trishs friend and worked at the farm shop, and the man in the car her mechanic husband.

Clawdy · 27/02/2017 22:19

Very well done, love Olivia C and David T. Felt grimly realistic, with touches of humour - loved the "Shitface " exchange!

HemanOrSheRa · 27/02/2017 22:20

Pacific TAKE YOUR FINGERS OUT OF YOUR EARS. DT WAS REALLY GOOD Grin.

Cagliostro · 27/02/2017 22:21

Thanks neela I wasn't sure so didn't want to assume it was them. I was tempted to look on IMDB for a clue but when I've done that with another series it gave an epic spoiler!

I think the condoms must be a red herring - I reckon the condom wrapper they found might belong to Cath/DH, they had a quickie during the party maybe?

WigglyWooWorm · 27/02/2017 22:24

Thanks little. Shame it's not open to the public. The area around there might be worth some.walking though.

I'm thinking good things for this series.

Akire · 27/02/2017 22:24

I enjoyed it, love way Broadchurch take their time telling stories. We do used to bam Murder, inquiry arrest and trial in 90min that we never see boring or mudune parts.

love Olivia Coleman could watch her all day. Least we have few suspects already! Bloke in shop and cathys husband.

Graphista · 27/02/2017 22:24

"I loved how Olivia shot the trainee down "We start from a postion of belief" - too bloody right!!" Me too!

But it shouldn't need specialist training to change her mindset (the trainees) but I guess it served to show that some idiots still think like that (why didn't she report? Why didn't she report till now? How can she not remember the details? Etc)

Would other fans agree there's bound to be lots of red herrings and twists as there were in the first 2 series? Ie don't assume

The condoms are fairly standard brand/design

Farm shop bag - customer could have one not just people connected to the shop

Cagliostro · 27/02/2017 22:25

Also the little girl belonging to Danny's mum, was that the baby she was pregnant with in an earlier series? I forget what happened when but the little girl seemed quite old considering series two started Jan 2015?

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 27/02/2017 22:25

If Trish had had a knock to the head so severe it had caused her to be in unconscious and she seems to have some amnesia as well wouldn't a Dr/ Hospital check her out?

Thought it was a fab first episode, love the relationship between DT and OC.

Really want to go to West Bay again now as well!!

Cagliostro · 27/02/2017 22:26

I adore Olivia too. First saw her in Green Wing - she's so versatile!

topcat2014 · 27/02/2017 22:28

The actor who played the supervisor on the helpline thing (opposite 'beth') always tends to play these kind of social work/medical roles.

Also the mechanic (husband to Sarah Parish's part) always tends to be a bit sinister.

Lenny Henry played a good sinister part in the lottery winning syndicate programme.

Thing is, I can't remember the detail of S2. Why did Mark Latimer split - was he having an affair or something?

Was the paramedic in S2 Ellie's husband?

Amazing how the details leave.

Remember how sinister Pauline Quirke was in S2?

Loving the generic southwest accents (from here in Gloucestershire)

Akire · 27/02/2017 22:28

It was later than that they said was 3y ago and she was about 4 weeks pregnant at first series so child would be 2 now. But then they did say oldest daughter went back a year so maybe she failed A levels and re sat as she was 15/16 at time

Graphista · 27/02/2017 22:29

Cagliostro this series is 3 years after end of series 2, Ellie was almost due new baby so that child almost 3.

Girliefriend - a dr may well have seen her at police station or she could have refused treatment which is her right.

topcat2014 · 27/02/2017 22:29

Another thing - you don't tend to get detectives that 'green' - they have to start as uniformed PC's for a while (years?) if I recall.

Akire · 27/02/2017 22:30

Yes her husband was having fling with woman from pub (on night it happened) but she didn't find out till end. Think were going give it go with the baby but obviously didn't work out

Loopytiles · 27/02/2017 22:31

Lots of potentially shifty characters, and brooding scenery.

Hmm at DT telling his daughter not to go places alone, but not to warn her friends!

And very below the belt of miller to compare her porn pushing teen son to his murderer, paedophile father!

HemanOrSheRa · 27/02/2017 22:32

Oh wow. Was the house the same as the Brideshead Revisited? I reckon they've been filming in Somerset though.

Crispbutty · 27/02/2017 22:34

Had to watch half an hour late as clashed with something. Thought it was really good so far.

Graphista · 27/02/2017 22:35

Not uncommon for bereaved parents to split anyway, whatever the cause of the bereavement.

I don't know if the trainee detective was green necessarily - judgmental definitely!

Graphista · 27/02/2017 22:37

I get where Ellie was coming from, it's a small community, everyone knows who his dad is and what he did, anything like that could ruin his reputation and make life very hard for him at school and socially. It came from a place of love and fear for her son. She doesn't want him tainted by his fathers actions.

absolutelynotfabulous · 27/02/2017 22:41

Herman Brideshead Revisited was filmed at Castle Howard in Yorkshire. Now THAT was a series and a half.
