Had a few days up North to see family at the beginning of this week. Visited New Brighton and Formby for a day out, and managed to see a red squirrel in the woods at Formby. We then had a dramatic low flyover by two RAF Hercules - thought the first one was going to crash, it was banking so low. Must have been a training exercise! I also took the boys skiing to the indoor slope near the Trafford Centre, and embarrassed myself with a comedy fall - no injuries thankfully!

My sister pointed out a couple of houses near her which were used as the location in Tina and Bobby, and their local shops were used too. I thought at the time that I recognised one as her local Chinese takeaway but they had changed it into a dry cleaners so I dismissed it. I would have been more interested if I had realised!

Alwaysfrank · 07/04/2017 20:00

Also meant to say - sorry to hear about the mice ilove, I hope there are no more! I'm battling moths here. I'm trying to have a good old spring clean and clear out before getting someone in to fumigate. It is a losing battle and our carpets are being eaten. Very annoying, but it seems to be a big problem round here,

Ilovelblue · 07/04/2017 23:40

Always I am roughly equidistant between Manchester and Liverpool - you should have said!

I think some of the Tina and Bobby filming was in Sale, wasn't it? Seem to think I read about it at the time the series was screened.

Keeping a close eye on the cats for any more mice. I have had cats absolutely all my life and even as a child, I don't recall us ever needing a mousetrap. Yuk!

Been watching Graham Norton whilst messing around on the internet and whatever this rubbish programme is that is on now, it's just shown Mansfield Mike (Nick Preston).

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

xx

Rhubarb01 · 08/04/2017 18:33

Afternoon all, although the sun is past the yardarm and so it's probably really evening and that's my excuse for imbibing just a little Grin.

I've been AWOL for a while and in my case without any extenuating circumstances as I haven't been doing anything interesting just didn't have anything very interesting to offer. I have been out this afternoon giving the Cipher Hut at Lechley Park a spring clean in readiness for the warmer weather but not much else.

In the absence of any OG3 news I was pondering something today and wondered if any knowledgeable people out there might know the answer. In OG2 Georgie is, as we well know according to CJ, is a top notch medic with several overseas tours under her belt and is currently teaching other medics. From the briefing notes handed to Elvis when he sweeps in to rescue her (the thought makes me want to watch back to back Musketeers on Netflix even though I'm Team Aramis) Georgie is 25. I'm assuming that she must have been in the army at least about 5 years to allow for training and several tours abroad so....why is she only a Lance Corporal? Surely with all her experience she would have been promoted a little higher than that, Corporal at least? Just pondering as I have nothing else to offer in respect of OG.

OK, over and out!

Ilovelblue · 08/04/2017 22:02

What a gorgeous day it's been today. It was almost like summer. It always makes me smile when we have a sunny day as half the women in Britain seem to strip off, showing spare tyres, lumps and bumps in places where they are best kept hidden.

I was up in Cumbria on the edge of the Lake District with my friend from across the road. The views were superb.

Rhu I have no idea at all of the rate of progression in the armed forces (that's probably one for mooj but maybe Georgie's slow promotion is alongside CJ's lack of promotion to Major? Does it make her more "matey" with Two Section? If she was a corporal, would she have to distance herself more?

I have a delightful afternoon tomorrow (not). A very elderly (91 year old) friend of my mother's has invited herself round for lunch. I've managed to put her off twice but this time she caught me unawares. I said that now I am not working, she could come any day through the week but she said "I hate Sundays, I'll come next Sunday!" I was so taken aback, I didn't have a quick response ready, so I am stuck with her. Not only that, but I have to go across to the other side of town to pick her up and take her back again. It's like having the Queen Mother in your house.

I meant to post this before, sorry.

I hope everyone is just busy at the moment I am fairly new to posting but have been following for a good long time and don't remember such a quiet time. Gardening has been high on our priorities here in Yorkshire so am hoping it has kept everyone else busy in the good weather and longer days. Wishing everyone a happy Easter and looking forward to some OG NEWS
Goodnight

Ilovelblue · 11/04/2017 22:38

Hi Yorks, I was about to post to say where is everyone but you beat me to it. It has been very, very quiet on here lately and I think we're all ready for some positive OG news.

I've been busy in the garden too, painting some of my metal garden furniture, renovating two beds, digging out a compost heap and starting off the hanging baskets in the greenhouse. All that whilst adjusting to retirement and doing lots of "ladies who lunch".

Hope everyone else is staying fit and well.

Luckily there are some good ff stories popping up to keep me happy. Thank you old and new ff writers I enjoy the new ones but still re-read the old ones greenstuff, it's embarrassing, toffeecrisp etc I don't know how you do it but glad you do

Ilovelblue · 11/04/2017 23:04

Yorks do you know that Toffeecrisp posts here as well - she is Rhubarb. Itsembarrssing used to post on here too but is having a break at present.

Richtea19 · 11/04/2017 23:36

Very quiet here at the moment. I expect everyone is enjoying the school Easter holidays and the good weather.

I've been gardening where I can and working extra hours at work as we are short staffed covering holidays etc.

I went to see MiL last weekend which very emotional. She looked fabulous in her wig and looked incredible. Her second lot of chemotherapy is tomorrow which DH is taking her to, so it will be downhill again for the next few weeks.

I'm so behind on FF, I'm hoping to have a binge read next week when we go on holiday!

Ilovelblue · 11/04/2017 23:42

Are you off somewhere nice and warm Rich?

How many sets of chemo will MiL have? Did your sister in law go back to Australia?

icemist · 12/04/2017 07:02

I'm still around Smile Been doing stuff with boys whilst weather been good. Have started to crochet again too. Working on some new projects for OG fans. But will post more about that when I can.

Thanks ilove I remember way back o think it was Ice did a list of posters/writers of but I didn't write them down so not sure who's who now!

Alwaysfrank · 12/04/2017 09:14

I'm here too but busy with a major clear out and spring cleaning to try and get on top of the bl**dy moths. I had a pest control company in yesterday to quote for treatment and the figure was not much change from £3k. I don't live in a mansion btw, just an ordinary Victorian terrace. It's all very depressing. Nothing compared to those of you dealing with family illness of course, I should get a grip.

I guess I should get some more quotes but the amount of effort involved eg emptying the loft, seems very daunting. And it's all very well going through each teen's bedroom with them in turn cleaning and clearing out junk but they won't stay clear and tidy for long - so if we do spend a fortune on moth treatment I can see myself turning into a fishwife over their bedroom tidiness.

Need some OG news to cheer me up!

Richtea19 · 12/04/2017 18:38

ilove david and I are off the Spain, just for 5 nights. It was a gift from one of our friends for his 50th last year. Very generous and I'm really looking forward to it, other than leaving the boys. MIL would of normally come over but because of her treatment I have asked my two nephews. Twins! Age 25. Think my two will have a fabulous time!

MIL has 6 treatments over 6 months. Also including a drug infusion which was suppose to have started today but they started too late and couldn't do it. After all that it's radiotherapy!

SIL has gone back to Australia (B...ch) I can't stand her. Patronising cow! I've take. Her off FB as I can't stand reading her self inflated comments about how wonderful her life is when her mother is going through this dreadful treatment. The latest post (I sneak a peek through The kids FB) is that they are buying a Winnebago and going to travel around Australia..... ahhhhhh I can't stand it!

Nickel45 · 12/04/2017 21:19

Hello all. Mental couple of weeks with the kids off, no time to do anything!

Finally some OG news .. ish. According to MKs blog, she off to film OG "soon" - whatever that means!!!! Still, at least it's kinda news!

Thank you Ice and the same to all
I've had trouble getting on to the site today but at last seems ok
Goodnight everyone

Ilovelblue · 15/04/2017 23:04

Hi all.

I've never known our threads to be this quiet ever in all the time we've been chatting on here.

Hope everyone is having a good time over the Easter weekend. It's been really chilly here today and rained a lot yesterday. Still, every day seems like a holiday to me at the moment. I'm hopefully starting my voluntary work at the children's hospice next month so that will perhaps give me a bit more of a routine.

Rain is forecast again for tomorrow so it may give me the kick I need to clean out some of my kitchen cupboards. On the other hand, I may go and do some work in the greenhouse - that seems to have more appeal.

Good to see that there are some OG developments at long last.

MaddieMoo82 · 16/04/2017 08:37

Morning all. Happy Easter everyone GrinEaster Smile
Hope everyone's bank holiday is going well. I'm not working except from sick cover for the next 24 hours so hoping people don't eat too much chocolate!!
Having a quietish weekend visiting family and but if the weather improves we are hoping to get to the beach tomorrow for a walk with the dog and small person.
I see OG filming is imminent so looking forward to seeing the pictures start popping up.
Anyway have a nice rest of the bank holiday weekend everyone! X

KeziaOAP · 16/04/2017 09:45

Have a good day everyone. Family here for lunch today then relaxing afternoon not doing much Smile.

ilove could you send some rain this way, other than an isolated shower no rain for three weeks having to water pots regularly, have over forty dotted around will have to seriously cut down, my problem can't resist new plants Hmm

Ilovelblue · 16/04/2017 11:41

With pleasure kezia. It's really heavy at the moment. I can't resist plants either but try not to have too many in pots or if I do, tend to group them together for easy watering.

Rhubarb01 · 16/04/2017 12:03

Happy Easter everyone!

Well, the Easter bunny has made some deliveries here so everyone is happy and the sun is shining. As a fellow west country dweller with Kezia I can concur that there has been barely a drop of rain for weeks. No doubt that will change when I need to walk off all the extra Easter Egg calories and it is throwing it down relentlessly.

It's definitely been quiet on here but I think it's just because we have so little OG news this time. They are definitely playing it close to their chests or is it that they just haven't got the cast finalised?

I have been ploughing through a box set of Soldier Soldier recently which has been fun. It doesn't quite rate on the OG scale in obvious departments but it's full of likeable characters and I soon discovered that Heidi Thomas of CTM fame wrote quite a few of the earlier episodes. What I like about it is that the main characters, both soldiers and civilians, have time to grow over time just like CTM - Donna Tucker evolves from 'slapper' to a more mature and intelligent woman with her own identity. They made a whopping 82 episodes and I think that once the original central characters left it wasn't as good but I'll admit to having snivelled my way through the entire last episode of series 4 - I won't say why in case anyone is tempted and hasn't seen it before. One funny note though is the clothes. I had no idea that we wore so many baggy shapeless, big shouldered outfits in the 90's Blush

Just to improve my credibility slightly - I've also been re-watching 'Mad Men' too!

Enjoy your day everyone. Here's to more OG news soon!
