Morning all. Quiet again on here after Tuesday's flurry of activity.

My wisteria is at its absolute best now.

That's beautiful ilove. It looks like you're enjoying your life of leisure. I'm more than a little jealous, life is manic at the moment and I'm not doing a good job of keeping the plates spinning. I would seriously like to work less hours, just need a job that will pay me better but need me less (so that's not going to happen)

Ilovelblue · 18/05/2017 23:56

I am certainly enjoying it so far pixie. I have been lucky that the weather has been pretty good almost the whole time I've been away from work and I've been able to do all sorts of jobs I've either ignored for months or tackled some I would probably have paid somebody else to do. What it will be like in winter, I have no idea, but I have two volunteer jobs semi-lined up but don't want to do them at the moment whilst I'm enjoying my new freedom.

I know what you mean about keeping those plates spinning and it's easy to say from a distance, but I hope it doesn't start to affect your health. xx

moojangles · 19/05/2017 14:04

Loving the witeria ilove and it looks like you've been enjoying yourself.

Hope you're okay pix

Thanks for the Intel nickel, exciting times ahead!

At last we are having good weather. I've spent all day in the garden weeding, cutting back etc and I'm exhausted. Time for G&T in the eve sunshine, bliss

Hi just a quick check in I guess we have all been busy in the garden very quiet on here. Is anyone watching Grantchester Si Lennon was in briefly tonight and it was certainly a different story, not sure if anyone watches. Goodnight everyone hoping for more info and pictures for OG3!Smile

Nickel45 · 21/05/2017 23:19

Hi yorks, recorded Granchester to watch later. I'm really enjoying this series, seems different to the others, will watch tomorrow with no kids or hubby to disturb me! also saw today that another series of Endeavour is being filmed round my way, hopefully be out later in the year :)

Ilovelblue · 22/05/2017 16:31

Love getting all the snippets of OG filming.

How are you all? I was up in the Lakes on Saturday at a garden worked on entirely by volunteers. I definitely have garden envy when I go there.

Absolutely devastated by the attack last night. I travel through Victoria to/from work. Those poor families Sad

Rhubarb01 · 23/05/2017 12:53

It was one of those mornings when I hugged and kissed my kids and told them I loved them whether they liked it or not. Absolutely devastating for those poor families.

Unbelievably evil a nightmare for the families involved and the people of Manchester

I did think of you Ice as I thought I had read you travelled through Manchester to work

It sounds as if as usual these dreadful acts also bring out the very best in people as well but is small comfort to the families involved

Ilovelblue · 23/05/2017 23:22

What a dreadful, sad day. The explosion came up on my Google newsfeed just as I was going to bed and there were no other details but I guessed it was a terrorist attack, though I really hoped to the contrary. Two of the youngsters were at a college and primary school only three or four miles from where I live.

I've jus donated on the Manchester Evening News JustGiving website, seems the least I could do as I am too far away to donate blood or take food in to the hospitals.

It puts all our problems into proportion, that's for sure.

icemist · 24/05/2017 06:39

Morning, woken up to the news that a young girl missing has been confirmed one of the victims. I can't stop crying... I've got work today and feel nervous about going

I know how you feel I can't get it out of my head either. We are all thinking of you in Manchester and hoping and praying there are no more attacks planned in the country as a whole in view of the critical threat level now on
We have to try and be strong and not let these evil people win

pixieg1rl · 24/05/2017 09:16

Day in London for work today. Less thrilled than usual about going on the underground, but you need to carry on. There was an incident on the train down (medical emergency) and there was a moment at the start of the announcement when the whole train seemed to brace themselves

As always I try not to pay attention to the horrors that seem to be all over the media which just seem massively intrusive to the poor families who must be going through hell and concentrate on the good. People are fundamentally good most of the time and the reactions of those in and around Manchester are testament to that.

Sun is shining, people are coming together and we're stronger than the threat.

Good morning everyone.

I think we are all still shocked from the Manchester tragedy I am certainly finding it difficult to get it out of my mind.

I have taken two of my best friends out for lunch (different) days this week but it has had a strange effect on us all. Very subduing I would describe it. However as pixie says we have to show we are stronger than the evil
Have a good weekend everyone hope the weather stays fine and sunny

Ilovelblue · 26/05/2017 23:20

Indeed, it has been a very quiet week on here. Not surprising with the dreadful events in Manchester.

As pixie says, however, I feel that the press don't really know when to pull back. It has upset me so much that I have more or less stopped watching. Obviously, being in the north west, it is on our local news as well as the national news. It's horrendous enough without the media repeating the same stuff over and over. It must be so intrusive for the grieving families.

The weather has been fantastic this week Yorks but it's due to break tomorrow with thunderstorms forecast. It's as if the weather recognises it's a bank holiday coming up!

Rhubarb01 · 28/05/2017 11:08

Morning!

Definitely a difficult week. I sometimes reflect when bad things happen like Monday how very much greater the coverage of such events are these days and how much more involved we all become in every detail. I suppose that is the effect of 24 hour news coverage and social media. Thinking back we only ever had news bulletins and the newspapers to report the stories and I suppose that, shocked and upset as we all were, it didn't seep into our lives to quite the same extent. Sometimes it's maybe better to just switch some of it off and have some quiet reflection of your own. A bit like pix said, though, you have to take heart from the good stories and the affirmation that there are very many more good than bad people in the world.

I'm cooking an early lunch today - well that means 12.30 on a Sunday rather than nearer 2pm as it usually ends up - as DD is off to a competition later this afternoon. Just taking a break to have a cup of tea and listen to The Archers omnibus. I don't always catch all of it during the week and I can't claim I know who everyone is but I enjoy the escapist nature of it and bizarrely all the animal noises, tractor ploughing and twittering birds!

I've done some binge watching over the past couple of days of series 2 of Line of Duty and then moved onto 'The Keepers' a documentary series on Netflix. I realised I'd overdone the watching when I had a terrible dream last night, one of those where you are in danger, calling out for help but you can't get any sound out of your voice and then you wake up and your whole body is in a state of jangling fear. I decided not to watch anymore today and give my brain a rest.

Anyone doing anything interesting for the bank holiday? The weather is good at the moment but there is mention of torrential rain, thunder and lightning later - typical!

icemist · 29/05/2017 17:51

Lovely picture for a wet bank holiday Smile

Nickel45 · 29/05/2017 21:10

What a week :(

Currently on r&r (well as much as possible with two kids ... so none then!) down south, but so far had rain, thunder, storms and more rain. Hoping for a beach day (or few hours!) before heading home in a few days,

Loving whajebs ff ... Brilliant :) Can't wait for the next chapter.

Ilovelblue · 30/05/2017 00:23

Her ff is ace, isn't it Nickel? I do hope Mitchell gets her comeuppance. I'm quite wrapped up in that story. There are some good ones on there at the moment.

Good photo ice - who wouldn't want to be a guest at that table? Mind you, I do wish BA would ditch the backwards facing baseball cap.

It's poured down most of today here - typical bank holiday weather. I've taken the opportunity to try to sort out my wardrobe today. It started off as bringing all the summer stuff in and shoving the winter clothes into my spare room but it progressed into trying to decide what to do with some of my work clothes so there is a small pile for the bin, another pile for my friend to try on and a bag for the charity shop. I may stick some bits on eBay too.

My friend's father died yesterday so I have been with her and her Mum a bit today as well. He had cancer and the last week had been particularly traumatic for them all.

Good morning. It has stopped raining at last I think it rained for 24 hours non stop yesterday. It seems to know when it's a bank holiday.

Thanks for photo Ice that and ff cheered up the day. I agree there are some good ones keep appearing and i enjoy reading the other completed ones again
Oh dear half asleep fat fingers posted that before I intended
Hope the rest of the week is better for school holidays and last week wasn't our summer!!
No news so bye for now

Working today. Been through Victoria, busy as usual. Your eyes drawn to where it happened, couldn't help but have a little cry.
