Time for a new thread.

Last night's was the first time in ages I have actually enjoyed watching Corrie. What a difference a good plot twist can make!

Whilst we all recover from the shock of a plot not being immediately obvious from a mile away, just a reminder to everyone on the thread...however obvious a spoiler may seem to you, however many magazines it has been on the cover of, we don't talk about it on here. We are spoiler free.

Thank goodness Nick has gone.
Anyone less wet would be hard to imagine. It was totally unrealistic that strong women like Carla or Leanne would have given him the time of day, let alone entered into a relationship with him.

Run4Fun · 03/06/2017 01:15

Carla wasn't that strong from memory, she was very fragile emotionally. She was drinking and gambling. There's a stereotype Corrie use with women of tough exterior and bolshy but emotionally damaged and heart of gold when you scratch the surface : Karen, Becky, Shona, Carla, Leanne, Toyah, Janice, Tracy...

Nick Tilsley: so wet even quick sand rejected him.

squoosh · 03/06/2017 01:29

I presume/hope that Bethany will have her Nathan awakening when she sees and speaks to Shona?

stonecircle · 03/06/2017 08:21

It really concerns me, the Bethany story, the fact they've shown that a police man is involved. I think it is misjudged by corrie. Anyone in Bethanys position shouldn't feel like the police are corrupted in that way. Iyswim. They should feel a police station is sanctuary and safety.*

I don't agree at all. Look how often sex rings turn out to involve people in authority - politicians, teachers, staff in care homes etc Vulnerable people need to know that, whilst most people in authority are ok, sometimes they aren't.

stonecircle · 03/06/2017 09:03

Sorry - bold fail. My first paragraph should be bold.

JustDanceAddict · 03/06/2017 09:24

Agree with stone - authority figures aren't always good, although most are

stonecircle · 03/06/2017 10:12

Slightly sensitive about this as the Ex HT at my dcs' of primary was jailed for grooming. Someone in authority that children and parents ought to have been able to trust implicitly.

eddiemairswife · 03/06/2017 10:58

I think I have just spotted Simon as a ball-boy at the French Open!

JustDanceAddict · 03/06/2017 13:06

That's awful stone - and to think that schools are so stringent regarding DBS checks and safeguarding, but that's only if you've been caught or reported something.

ZeldaWasMyGransName · 03/06/2017 15:28

Brilliant!

I think the Bethany storyline has been pretty well done, interested too see how far it will be before she sees Nathan for what he is.

Susiesoap7 · 03/06/2017 15:51

Never liked Sarah as the mother, not a good actress. She only looks about 12 . I find it totally unbelievably

Mexxi · 03/06/2017 16:57

Tina O'Brien is 34! Hard to believe.

Mexxi · 03/06/2017 16:59

Mind you, Nick looks 40+ and he was supposed to be only a few of years older than Todd. Back in the day, when Todd tried to kiss him (as played by Adam Rickitt) they looked roughly the same age.

TreeTop7 · 03/06/2017 17:50

Like others, I find Sarah and Bethany really weird as mother and daughter because the older actress looks 25 and the younger one looks 22. I think they're both very competent though.

The guy playing Nathan was brilliant.

There was some good acting this week.

I agree that Nick is wet. It so obvious that Leanne was never in love. She was making do.

EachandEveryone · 03/06/2017 21:43

The can act they were brilliant in the live show

Akire · 03/06/2017 22:14

Just caught up with the week, not sure Bethany story is all over given she's still very much under his spell. It will go on for ages yet I'm guessing.

Why did Nik have to leave that day with nothing? Not even clean pair pants and a toothbrush?? Surely he could persuade Leanna have nice bath then pack a bag then go!

Kevin and Anna are a funny couple, ok so no sex because of way she looks but it's just convenience. She share bills and cooks tea, he provides roof over her head. It's just so dull.

Thingsgettingstranger · 04/06/2017 12:31

Did anyone see the soap awards winners? It's broadcasting on Tuesday but the event was last night.

Rob Mallard (Daniel) won best newcomer.
Kym Marsh (Michelle) won best female dramatic performance.
Donna-Rose Campbell (Gemma) won best comedy scene.
Elle Mulvaney (Amy) won best young actor.

I think they did pretty well!

Can't wait for next week's episodes...

JeanSeberg · 04/06/2017 16:35

Apart from Gemma who I love, what appalling choices for those awards.

Mexxi · 04/06/2017 17:43

I think Kym deserved her award.

lizzieoak · 04/06/2017 17:48

I agree, Kym was very moving during the episodes concerning Rory (I am not keen on her as a pissy witch, so am looking forward to the plot moving on now - she and Robert don't work for me).

Clawdy · 04/06/2017 18:34

Some of her quieter moments were movingly done, but the endless screeching and railing at everyone became very irritating.

TreeTop7 · 04/06/2017 18:40

I only watch CS - no otter soaps - so I can't compare those winners to actors in other programmmes, but I think that those awards were deserved. Kym was especially brilliant as a beareaved mum. I couldn't stand her band but I like her as an actor.

lizzieoak · 04/06/2017 19:26

I would totally watch an otter soap ;) Would that be like when those insurance meerkats invaded the Rovers?
