Time for a new thread.

Last night's was the first time in ages I have actually enjoyed watching Corrie. What a difference a good plot twist can make!

Whilst we all recover from the shock of a plot not being immediately obvious from a mile away, just a reminder to everyone on the thread...however obvious a spoiler may seem to you, however many magazines it has been on the cover of, we don't talk about it on here. We are spoiler free.

OP posts:

I keep reading spoilers in the daily mail online (I know serves me right) about the Bethany storyline and then she doesn't appear in the prog all week? Am I blinking it and missing it?

Clawdy · 12/05/2017 23:01

Still can't see why Gina trolled Sally. Very unlikely, particularly as they seem to be making her a sympathetic character. Wondered if the troll is actually the step-daughter, but there doesn't seem to be any motive there.

AnnoyedofTunbridgeWells · 13/05/2017 07:57

Yeah I'm assuming the step daughter is the troll, maybe she's annoyed that Sally 'abandoned' Gina

Don't forget though her and Kevin bought in the 80's and saved to be able to buy so that's prob the only bit that does make a little bit of sense. Lets forget about her finding random pots of cash to buy shares in local businesses etc. though ;)

eddiemairswife · 13/05/2017 14:48

Yet another pregnancy test kit discovered accidentally. It's so boring over and over again.

Akire · 13/05/2017 17:14

I was rolling my eyes at that too, only in soap land do
You buy a test, keep taking it out of your bag to stare at it, stroke it, pull a face then not put it away or leave it out in the open.

Was she supposed to be pregnant or not? They didn't show her drinking the wine did they?

Boswellox · 14/05/2017 21:18

Lol Akire, good points well made. I only know that I'm hooked back onto Corrers because I'm liking the comic/tragic dialogue staying just about within the realms of possibility not resorting to outlandish extremes which just makes me switch off.

CoolioAndTheGang · 15/05/2017 10:43

The Bethany storyline is on until Autumn and is meant to get very nasty. It is based on a real person's experiences.
Gina has bipolar so it is possible she trolled Sally but it could be Gina's daughter was behind it.
I think we need another big disaster to shake things up and clear the dead wood.

Sally lives in Coronation street with a nice middle class life (Does a knicker stitcher earn enough to buy a semi detached in Manchester and fund a MC life? I might retrain wink)

Kevin won £200,000 on a scratch card and gave all or most of it to Sally as they were in the process of divorcing.

SumAndSubstance · 15/05/2017 19:38

Weren't Sally and Kevin involved in a house swap with somebody back in the day? Did it go through? Did I dream that?

eddiemairswife · 15/05/2017 19:43

Was it Ashley Peacock and his wife (Clare?)?

eddiemairswife · 15/05/2017 21:14

Where is Simon? At first, I couldn't think who Leanne was talking about when she mentioned Peter's son. And he certainly wasn't there when Nick and Leanne were having their evening meal.
Also, Kevin arranging to have two days away with Anna; no mention of child care for Jack. Izzie and Gary are another couple who can go out without a babysitter.

Falconhoof1 · 15/05/2017 21:17

All charges dropped against Peter because his ex saw him sitting at his window that night? Grin

petalsinthegarden · 15/05/2017 21:28

I have nothing to add, don't even watch Corrie.

However, this thread had 666 posts so I had to change it.

Sorry.

Please continue!

EachandEveryone · 16/05/2017 00:55

Toyah is so bloody annoying. When does she go to work?

CoolioAndTheGang · 16/05/2017 01:16

Who would you keep if there was another big disaster? The list seems shorter than who would go! Grin
I would keep Roy, Mary, Norris & bring back Maud and some flashbacks of Blanche's (RIP) humour and one liners. I used to love Corrie Sad It's gone so 'cardboard'

TattyCat · 16/05/2017 02:06

Gina's 'daughter' is her step-daughter. So... I'm not sure, but if her father has met his demise then perhaps she's trying to steer a mental health diagnosis in Gina and thereby get her sticky mits on any inheritance because it's all unfair? Perhaps Gina was left with all her DH's worldly goods. That's the only explanation I can think of atm, otherwise it's pretty pointless. Oh... wait...

David is good these days.

Clawdy · 16/05/2017 10:01

Yes, definitely keep David, he has some great lines at the moment, and that sly grin.....Liked that final scene with him and Nick.

BoysofMelody · 16/05/2017 10:12

KEEP

Eileen, Todd, David (I like the fact they're morally ambiguous) Mary, Roy, Gail, Norris (he is really coming into his own of late), Liz, Luke, Ken, Peter, Tracey and beyond that I'm struggling. I think Shona has the potential to be quite an interesting character.

I think what's really obvious is the divide in the quality of acting. There's three groups of actors. There's those who are proper character actors (David Neilsen who plays Roy for example). Generally they're pretty good at playing situations where the character finds themselves in a stressful or unusual situation.

The other two groups are less convincing they tend to be the ex-child stars of the soap who've stayed on into adulthood and the qualities that make an endearing child actor don't necessarily translate into being an adult actor (Chesney and Tyrone being prime examples) Finally there's those who've had a part created for them or who have a limited range but are like the character they are trying to portray (Michelle and Kev) .

I remember a few months ago when Steve and Peter were having an animated discussion about Leanne's baby and whereas Chris Gascoynge who plays Peter was actually acting, Simon Gregson who plays Steve was just bellowing his lines with no subtly whatsoever.

olliegarchy99 · 16/05/2017 11:58

agree David is excellent these days - and his interaction with the white-haired ladies (extra parts of course but good lines) who spar with him when having their hair done at Audrey's -

(this is not ageist - I am 70 myself Smile.)

I dislike the leanne character as she is such a 'fishwife' and is constantly moaning to everybody even when they are being nice to her.

lizzieoak · 16/05/2017 13:45

I've actually been impressed with Kym thingy who plays Michelle.

Who if keep when the plague sweeps the Street;
David, Gail, Mary, Tim (& probably Sal), Norris. Luke, Peter, Tracey, & (if possible) Rob. I'd have kept Carla but she slipped my net. Gemma! She's very good.

Maybe keep Steve (he can be very funny) and Liz & Audrey & Eileen & Michelle. I'd go find Lloyd & Emily.
