Time for a new thread.

Last night's was the first time in ages I have actually enjoyed watching Corrie. What a difference a good plot twist can make!

Whilst we all recover from the shock of a plot not being immediately obvious from a mile away, just a reminder to everyone on the thread...however obvious a spoiler may seem to you, however many magazines it has been on the cover of, we don't talk about it on here. We are spoiler free.

Oh it's awful to watch but so important for people to see at the same time.

woodhill · 29/04/2017 17:41

Yes the Bethany missing her mum was almost a Thomas Hardy moment.

woodhill · 29/04/2017 17:41

I mean not seeing her when she ran into Roy,

stonecircle · 29/04/2017 18:11

Oh Woodhill - how perceptive. I love Thomas Hardy and I know exactly what you mean!

Goingtobeawesome · 29/04/2017 18:13

Nathan clearly controls the brunette which is why she isn't helping Bethany. She's not part of it because she wants to hurt her, she's scared of Nathan.

Goingtobeawesome · 29/04/2017 18:17

Sally the character is married to Tim on Corrie but in real life she's called Sally, married to another Tim who writes for Emmerdale.

I can't think what grooming storyline has been in Emmerdale this week. Surely you're mistaken?

woodhill · 29/04/2017 18:22

A bit Angel Claire and Tess wasn't itSmile

redshoeblueshoe · 29/04/2017 18:24

babyinarms - real life husband

AnneEyhtMeyer · 29/04/2017 18:57

As a Hardy fan, I think it is being very kind to the Corrie writers to make that comparison.

It has all happened too quickly and easily, and I don't believe in the characters.

I think they have missed an opportunity to do this plot well, but that always seems to happen in Corrie, they don't have patience with storylines (nor actors with the ability to carry the plot).

I think the Bethany storyline has been surprisingly realistic and built up gradually I find it believable and think it's been well cast the actor who plays Nathan is so so creepy.

ellenanora5 · 29/04/2017 19:26

Its a difficult story to get right I think because of the time its on, they can't make it that realistic before the watershed.

I feel sorry for her, I think she's completely messed up and just wants what she thinks is normal, Nathan made her feel grown up and wanted I suppose, her mother is bloody useless, especially when she got together with the man who made Kylie and David's life hell, I mean who does that for goodness sake, can't remember his name for some reason

Todd's face was brilliant when he heard he might be lumbered with a twelve year old, hopefully Billy will insist on taking her and they'll split up and then he'll leave the street for good, he gets on my nerves

Tracey is an idiot, going on the run with an escaped murderer, and how come no one is looking for him, load of rubbish.

stonecircle · 29/04/2017 19:30

I think for a soap the Bethany story has built up very slowly which makes it more credible - the gradual reeling in.

woodhill · 29/04/2017 20:09

I know Anne but it did remind me of his fate theme.

Thanks redshoe, never knew that !
Yes , the Tracey storyline is mad too!

Why wld you go on the run with a murderer and bring your 13 year old daughter along for the ride !
Daniel still creeping me out !

eddiemairswife · 30/04/2017 10:35

I'm surprised that there hasn't been more general gossip on the street about Bethany's much older boyfriend. This is where Corrie falls down nowadays.....too many dramatic stories and not enough day to day chitchat. Anyway, as soon as Craig has finished his training he'll be able to solve all the current crimes.....escaped criminal, pimping and Ken's attack.

Clawdy · 30/04/2017 13:30

I'm also finding the Bethany storyline implausible. I think he would have picked a more vulnerable girl, and probably not one with a suspicious mother, not to mention the mother's aggressive boyfriend. It's far too drawn out and prolonged.I do think the actor playing Bethany has come into her own now, though. She is much better now than when she started.

LordAnthony · 30/04/2017 13:32

Eddie yup, it is fairly inevitable that any future comes will be investigated by Craig, just as anyone who needed treatment in Weatherfield general had Martin as their nurse.

Mind you he couldn't do worse than the female detective sergeant who seems to drag a different Barlow in every episode based on a hunch. Surely one of colleagues would have said, 'hang on Sarge don't we need some actual evidence and actually your hunches are shite, you were convinced Maria had killed Caz and she wasn't even dead'

Smith1 · 30/04/2017 21:09

I think bethany is very vulnerable so it works. Do you think Nathan pimps out Mel too, or its a case of do as I say or I'll make you sleep with Neil like you used to?

redshoeblueshoe · 30/04/2017 22:29

Smith I agree. When Bethany arrived in the Street she was a very confident young woman. Then the bullying changed her.
Her mother put her boyfriends ahead of her children,
as in deed so did her mother, and her grandmother sadly I'm old enough to remember this
ellenan - I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't stand Billy Grin

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 01/05/2017 20:37

I'm sure this Bethany storyline is very important but I hope it's over soon. Dark storylines are the reason I stopped watching Eastenders yonks ago.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 01/05/2017 20:38

I can't stand Billy either. He and the ex who has appeared on the scene have the tiniest pea heads!

AnnoyedofTunbridgeWells · 01/05/2017 20:43

Wasn't Roseh clever in school? Why is she so dim now?

Bethany story is horrible.

JustDanceAddict · 01/05/2017 20:48

She went to private school, but not all private schools are for clever kids.

Housewife2010 · 01/05/2017 21:23

I'm sure that Sally sent her to private school because she was supposed to be academic.
