At 8pm

Who's ready for it?!

Ah, OK. That makes sense. The stories themselves did seem to have the ring of truth about them, as far as it's possible to tell. It's a shame Chummy didn't exist, as she seems to be everyone's favourite character.

Does anyone remember if anything was said about Nurse Crane being an atheist when she started leading the cubs? It was only a few years ago (2014) when the scout movement removed their ban on atheist leaders.

I use to work in Poplar where the books are set and knew women who had home births attended by the nuns. From the people I met as a HCP I suspect the characters are based on real people Jennifer Worth knew as they do ring true to me. It's interesting the types of people who go into nursing and I've met some Chummys in my time.

BBCNewsRave · 12/03/2017 15:33

I'm still suspicious of the dentist! Probably without good reason, but the whole storyline with him so far just seems a bit odd. Either badly done or there is more to come...

Firstly, he seems kind of smarmy, just the type of man to be an utter wanker. Maybe end up raping/being otherwise violent towards Trixie. That may just be the way he comes across though. When he appeared to be cheating I thought it all fitted in nicely. Then Barbara said something about men only calling a woman "darling" if they really mean it - which set of a clanging naivety alarm for me, I assumed he would turn out to be dodgy!

Also, re. sister Monica Joan's dementia... I'm just thinking, if she was the thoughtful poetic type she may have fallen into rambles that were incoherant/odd to others long before her mind was seriously affected...? I know when Im thoughtful I could easily ramble on and sound quite mad; it would only take a small reduction in social awareness to appear quite different.

The ads on Facebook make it look like tonight is going to be Shelagh-centric. Lets hope Dr Smug is away on urgent business elsewhere.

ShelaghTurner · 12/03/2017 19:00

Here's hoping it's Shelagh-centric. Unfortunately there's the other big storyline and I think two smaller ones so it's unlikely to get the screentime I would like but hey. And hoping for lots of Dr Smug. Most of the other characters can go hang.

Hulababy · 12/03/2017 20:03

Finale time ...

QueenieGoldstein · 12/03/2017 20:13

What's betting there is an issue with the birth, they're quite far out from Poplar now aren't they?

HelenaDove · 12/03/2017 20:17

The woman who has been given the Pill. I bet her husband finds them and we have a reproductive coercion storyline.

Which would raise awareness of it. Ive seen it on threads on other boards.

Soubriquet · 12/03/2017 20:21

Possible blood clot for the contraceptive woman?

OP posts:
IrenetheQuaint · 12/03/2017 20:22

LOL at the diaphragm fitting Grin

wobblywonderwoman · 12/03/2017 20:22

The dancing diaphragm Grin

IvyLeagueUnderTheSea · 12/03/2017 20:22

Well the woman with the pill will get deep vein thrombosis.

I had a contraceptive cap like that years ago.

Poor Phylis.

Hulababy · 12/03/2017 20:24

:( for nurse Crane but how lovely of Barbara

IAmAPaleontologist · 12/03/2017 20:25

I'm a few mins behind, had to parent my children and put them to bed after robot wars. Can't believe it is the end of the series.

The pill was such a revolution, an amazing part of our social history.

Soubriquet · 12/03/2017 20:26

Definite blood clot. She just took 2 pills

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 12/03/2017 20:27

I thought DVT as well.

HelenaDove · 12/03/2017 20:28
Sad
QueenieGoldstein · 12/03/2017 20:28

DVT seems likely.

Hulababy · 12/03/2017 20:29

There's the first signs of an issue

IAmAPaleontologist · 12/03/2017 20:30

How many bloody pills is that woman taking?!

Poor Phyllis when Mrs T chose Sister J.

QueenieGoldstein · 12/03/2017 20:32

Understandable she would choose Sr J though, she's known her for longer.

IAmAPaleontologist · 12/03/2017 20:34

Am giggling at Barbara having everything in place for her wedding night.

Bloody hell those diaphragms are huge! Am becoming more of a fan of dh's vasectomy with every second.

Soubriquet · 12/03/2017 20:35

I had OP birth with my Ds

That bloody hurt! He kept laying on a nerve too which meant my leg kept cramping

IvyLeagueUnderTheSea · 12/03/2017 20:38
