Susan is amazingly done. Her story line was great tonight, the emergence of campaign groups, slowly slowly they learned how much things had been covered up. Very well done. I do hope we see patsy next week, poor deliah.

Am I the only one weeping through the thalidomide storyline?

Susan is very cute. But the child with the fractured femur would have been in hospital in traction for at least two months in those days.

BBCNews I don't think you can judge the Cynthia storyline by our modern-day understanding - incomplete and imperfect as it is - of MH conditions. It's comparatively recently that it's been recognised that people can suffer from PTSD following life events other than warfare (I took Dr Turner recommending the place that helped him after his wartime experience to mean that's what Cynthia has). It seems a reasonably accurate reflection of the beliefs of the times, and the fact that even the good/progressive treatment still involved a degree of institutionalisation, similar to the Downs storyline.

I sobbed myself into a headache at the thalidomide parents telling each other about their children. Its rare this programme doesn't make me cry TBH.

If I recall correctly, Barbara's father is a clergyman. Perhaps he is being posted abroad, hence the need for a quick wedding. I'm sure Patsy has caught the first ship back to Blighty, hence why Delia hasn't heard anything of her. I thought the handling of the thalidomide story was excellent, apart from the line about the parents not having a map, which reminded me of the modern "Welcome to Hollamd" that a lot of parents of special needs children find patronising.

It will be interesting to see how the nuns react to Trixie's divorced suitor. Ordinary people were very disapproving in those days, let alone people from a religious order.

Trixie didn't want the rough inner city parish and realised she wasn't set up to be a vicar's wife regardless. I can't remember why he didn't go to Newcastle but they split up anyway.

It's a bit of an early time slot for Line of Duty. Does Poldark usually be on at 8? (I've never watch!! Shockingly - despite the lovely Adian). Line of Duty will probably replace SS-GB, though not sure how long is left in that.

'Susan' is green screened. She's played by a little girl called Esme who is totally adorable and in possession of all four limbs. But she's dressed in green and they use CGI.

Poldark won't be back until the autumn, they're only filming S3 now.

Too early for Line of Duty. But I'll be thrilled if it's a Sunday night showing !
