I really enjoyed the book so looking forward to this. It's in 4 parts with Emily Watson playing the main character and Ben Chaplin as her lover. BBC1 9pm

Good article about it here.

Love that he's being so supportive to her. Hope he arranges for the attacker to get a nasty surprise.

QueenoftheAndals · 29/01/2017 21:20

Ok, so my guess is that BC will arrange for rapist colleague to get bumped off and EW somehow gets implicated and charged.

Book readers please do NOT tell me if I've got it right or wrong!

MichaelSheensNextDW · 29/01/2017 21:22

Oh god that would make sense.

minisausage · 29/01/2017 21:23

Yes agree Queen.

QueenoftheAndals · 29/01/2017 21:23

Is this guy she's now talking to a hitman?

minisausage · 29/01/2017 21:23

He's going to do it back to him

Itwillbefine · 29/01/2017 21:25

Very disturbing but compulsive viewing.

minisausage · 29/01/2017 21:26

Actually maybe he wasn't a hit man

Xmasbaby11 · 29/01/2017 21:26

That's really depressing advice the guy gives.

QueenoftheAndals · 29/01/2017 21:26

No doesn't look like it, does it?

Destinysdaughter · 29/01/2017 21:27

She's just getting good legal advice. Sadly he's telling her how hard it would be to prove it in court. Which is all true and doesn't give her many options...

( have read book so being v careful to not give anything away!)

Yes very depressing advice, and even more depressing to think it's probably an accurate description of reality.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 29/01/2017 21:28

Yes I suspect he will arrange for George to meet a sticky end. The flashbacks are horrific.

MichaelSheensNextDW · 29/01/2017 21:28

Wonder if the cafe guy (hitman?) was deliberately trying to put her off going down the legal route.

minisausage · 29/01/2017 21:28

He's very supportive for a fling

Xmasbaby11 · 29/01/2017 21:29

I've read the book too. I agree it's probably realistic advice - it just sounds so off-putting for the victim, as if they're taming a huge risk in reporting it.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 29/01/2017 21:29

Mystery man is so much more appealing this week, more light and shade to his character.

QueenoftheAndals · 29/01/2017 21:30

I've fancied Ben C since The Truth About Cats and Dogs, 20 years ago!

Thought it was just me! Wink

Itwillbefine · 29/01/2017 21:35

He was lovely in that, but didn't even realise it was him.

Xmasbaby11 · 29/01/2017 21:36

Ooh that dinner party was awkward! I would have thought someone else would join in.

Destinysdaughter · 29/01/2017 21:37

That dinner party

Awkward!!

I wonder if she gets into trouble for divulging work related information and her fancy man is a spy from another company.
