GREEEEEEEN!!!!!!
At least the glare blinded me from the stencils!

And those trousers?

I never did understand themed rooms

iklboo · 05/01/2017 21:18

Kelly makes Voldemort look like Sooty.

ElspethFlashman · 05/01/2017 22:36

V-Wahhhl till I die!

Poor Daniel. Kelly just looks blankly at him when he talks.

DesolateWaist · 05/01/2017 23:28

Do we ever get to see the inside of the judge's houses?
I'd love to judge the fuck out of them.

MrsJamin · 06/01/2017 06:25

I know she's not a main judge anymore but Sophie puts a lot of her house on her instagram. I've certainly missed the interaction between her and Daniel as they obviously get on really well. I think Kelly's appointment as main judge was a bad decision, she doesn't seem to like any other style than her own.
I think a lot of last year's designers were bad, too! Weirdly the series before that had a good load of creative people in it.

NormaSmuff · 06/01/2017 06:35

oh I do enjoy this programme but the judges are such wankers, as is the presenter.

MrsJamin · 06/01/2017 06:49

That's harsh, I like Daniel and beardy man, they are both experts in their fields.

NormaSmuff · 06/01/2017 06:58

They look down their noses so much.

Naicehamshop · 06/01/2017 06:59

Love Daniel and beardy man - could live without Kelly... Confused

MrsJamin · 06/01/2017 07:33

NormaSmuff, that's because plenty of the rooms have stuff wrong with them! They're just being honest! It's a competition!

NormaSmuff · 06/01/2017 08:02

They have a bitchy attitude imo

felixthecar · 06/01/2017 09:36

I think they're remarkably pleasant, given how awful some of the rooms are

ppeatfruit · 06/01/2017 09:49

Yes I agree Felix and Kelly's shaping up nicely IMO!!!! I like that she isn't a yes woman to Daniel's, sometimes unreasonable, negativity.

She was spot on about the strange green stencils all over the older lady's room. That box of sand made me choke, it reminded me of a cat's litter tray, or where we used put sand on our ballet shoes at ballet school!!!! Sorry I haven't read the whole thread!

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 06/01/2017 11:02

Good god my eyes! That green, those cork biard cupboards...the car boot lion trio. HmmThe right person went out but again, really questionable designs.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 06/01/2017 11:03

Cork board obviously. And how could I forget the litter trayGrin

SapphireStrange · 06/01/2017 12:19

Zebra, then I stand corrected! If I ever had any gaydar, it's obviously on the fritz.

Next we'll find out Daniel is straight...

ppeatfruit · 06/01/2017 12:35

The weird thing is that the presenter (beardy man) talks about the previous decor of the rooms as if there's been an improvement after the contestants have effed them them up!!!!

Those gothic styleee buildings\houses were amazing they didn't need idiots 'doing them up' !!!! Those lumps of black mdf over beautiful original doors was a crime ffs.

ElspethFlashman · 06/01/2017 12:38

Gay or straight, if he likes dressing like The Winslow Boy he's almost certainly celibate!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 06/01/2017 12:46

The lions were a really strange choice, for the challenge, I thought - really difficult to do anything particularly inventive with, and whatever you did, you still had a concrete lion garden ornament. I liked Shaida, but thought her lion was appalling - I would not give it house room.

I liked the Scottish lady - I am fond of bright colours and paisley patterns myself (though, shamefully, I had lived near Paisley for several years before I put together in my mind the connection between the town, its weaving industry and the pattern Blush), but her room was the worst of the three, and she had to go. The scalloped edge on the sand box was a particularly low point.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 06/01/2017 12:54

Oh - and I really want to know where the fabric for Scottish lady's dress for the announcements at the end came from. I would love to make myself a skirt out of that.

ppeatfruit · 06/01/2017 12:56

Funny I thought Daniel looked quite good in the denim outfit he wore on the first programme of this series. Those strangulating trousers did nothing for him (apart from from make him look like a twit fashion victim) Grin

viques · 06/01/2017 13:10

I think this programme is like a road crash, impossible to take your eyes off the potential disaster. The Holly flats / houses were gorgeous, I didn't think any of the designers added to them in any way, though mind you some of the rooms at the beginning of the process were hideous, and the owners should be made to sell ( for peanuts) to people with better taste. Like me.

and what is it about headboards, do people ,real people, ie fellow mumsnetters ,have huge towering wobbly chipboard covered with badly stapled fabrics lowering over them every night. I wouldn't sleep a wink waiting for those monstrosities to fall and crush me. I have a sensible wooden headboard which is just enough to support my pillows for reading and is firmly attached to the bed. dust catchers are not good design.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 06/01/2017 14:57

I quite liked Scottish lady too but she just got it soooo wrong. I'm very jealous she lives in Loch Lomond. I didn't know you could actually live IN Loch Lomond. Maybe she has an air pod like the squirrel in SpongeBob.

dailymaillazyjournos · 06/01/2017 15:01

Lois :)

absolutelynotfabulous · 06/01/2017 17:17

They're all awful so far. Of today, I liked black-cupboard man's the best, and the day before, James (?). Even though he didn't finish. Are they normally this crap though? I thought last year's were pretty crap but I still remember bits of the previous series. I LOVED that painted chair. I haven't forgotten it.

And I like Kelly Hoppen. There, I've said itSmile. She's a consummate professional and takes her work seriously. She must be doing something right.
