Or do I have him all to myself? Grin

Ah yes, was it Winter's father?

Also a guy with a silver tooth?

I think it's because Oona Chaplin has a foreign look to her & TH doesn't I keep thinking that she must have a foreign mum, whereas he does!

Didn't the father buy James mother?

UmmNo · 27/02/2017 13:48

I've really enjoyed this series but I hadn't the faintest idea what was going on half the time and that's being very optimistic 😂 I'm going to analyse this thread and then rewatch the whole thing.

diddl · 27/02/2017 13:49

James Delaney's father was played by Edward Fox & the boy Robert by Andy Serkis son!

OneWithTheForce · 27/02/2017 14:53

he really didn't show affection to anyone other than Zilpha

I didn't see him show any affection at all for zilpha. It's one of the things I found really unsettling about their relationship. (Aside from the incest of course!)

Just wondering is it actually incest if it is your half brother or sister?

I remember reading about a married couple when the half siblings married - had same mother or father can't remember which but not both

So Mrs smith has a DD then divorces and becomes Mrs Jones and has a DS

Then Julie Smith marries John Jones they have same mum but different dad

So are Julie and John committing incest?

I have no idea if it is or not, just wondering?

Ok BlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlush

I have just realised it was step brothers and sisters I was thinking of

As in the Mrs Smith has DD and the Mr Jones has DS and then they marry and then in future the children marry but are NOT connected by blood and genetics

Sorry guys for my dim message above BlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlush

Yes obviously if JD has same father then they share genetics etc

This series really grew on me - loved the costumes and how the scenes were framed and lit. TH's accent was a bit strange - had a hint of Papa Lazarou from the League of Gentlemen about it. Thought the Zilpha role was underwritten - never believed they could have thought at one time that they were "the same person". Still, it was great to have something different in among the Saturday night dross! It will be missed

I've resorted to trying to train DP to grunt and grumble 'I have a use for you'. He was sadly lacking Sad. What are we going to doooooooo?!

Oh stop it James Grin. I could fecking kick myself - I recorded every single episode but deleted them once I'd watched them, quietly, on my own of an afternoon after work . Every time I would see something that I missed.

I've been googling the nudie pics of TH as JD on location. The ones on the boat 😍.

Anyone else astonished at how the timing of James's release, assembling of those who'd be fleeing with him, provisioning of the ship and finally catching the tide was so accurately pre-planned and executed?

Astonished is one word, yes. I actually found it impossible to buy. I thought it was a mess – does he do what he does through meticulous planning and strategy, or because he has supernatural powers ('the ravens just told me')?

God, it was all so PORTENTOUS –JD striding about glowering, people symbolically butchering birds all over the show, wise children, Marilyn Manson JD's mother hanging about eternally in a pond...

On the upside, I loved Jonathan Pryce and Jason Watkins, and poor sensitive Godfrey. Lorna was OK but often mistook smirking for acting. I'd have liked more development for Zilpha.

Don't think on balance that I'd bother with a second series, if there's to be one.

Shock Sapphire get off the interweb ShockGrin.

Optimist1 · 28/02/2017 12:06

I'm with Sapphire on this one - series was interesting, well acted and beautifully filmed but I shan't be watching the next one.

I thought that's what all the letters were about? The boy singing was a cue for JD that everything was set up on the outside so he could do what he needed to do inside to get out. Which he had planned so he knew how it would go.

Prior preparation and planning prevents piss-poor performance, after all. My DH was really disappointed in the ending and felt cheated. No answers supplied, he thought. I forgot to ask him what was missing as I was all fuzzy at the filthy fellow Grin

Skooba · 28/02/2017 13:45

In Wuthering Heights he has quite full pouting lips which does not go with the other tough characters he's played. But in Taboo and the REvenant he has a moustache which disguises this.

PassTheCremeEggs · 28/02/2017 14:05

Interesting thing I noticed - if you pause on the bit where James is reading Zilpha's suicide note, the words written are totally different from those she is saying...!

wineusuallyhelps · 28/02/2017 14:06

Confession time.

I watched The Revenant at the cinema and didn't clock TH as a beaut. Also think he looks pretty unattractive in Wuthering Heights.

So, am I in lust with TH or JD?! Hmm...

Also, I saw Fifty Shades Darker the other day. While I love love love Jamie Dornan, I sat there thinking I'd choose TH/JD over him. So that's cleared that first-world problem up.

Optimist1 · 28/02/2017 14:07

Yes, I get that about the singing boy, letters etc but it would only have needed one recipient not to be where the boy went, or the boy being waylaid or some such for the whole carefully orchestrated plan to fall apart.
