I don't think I've seen a 3 person final. Do they still vote someone off halfway through or go with the full set all the way?

EvilRingahBitch · 14/12/2016 08:14

The last time I saw one (Harry/Chelsee/Jason) they voted someone off at the beginning of the second half as usual. However that was a two part show with 4 dances each and it looks like it's a single part show with only 3 this year.

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 14/12/2016 11:41

Judges' choice I still reckon are going to be what is watchable rather than improvable (sad cos I wanted to see Danny do his foxtrot properly).
Danny quickstep
Louise waltz (charleston if they think her showdance is too slow but probably waltz)
Ore ???? before the showdance music were announced would definitely have said his American Smooth. Now I am not sure. They hated his tango. His cha cha also maligned. I hated his waltz Wink QS too recent and too fast.
Viennese req >dancers. Hmmm. Has to be AS surely?

GrouchyKiwi · 14/12/2016 20:15

Tess and Claude were on ITT this evening. I thought Tess came across extremely well: warm and funny. She obviously loves the show.

sleighmyname · 14/12/2016 20:44

I agree Grouchy, she was much warmer and more natural

Bejazzled · 14/12/2016 22:37

So did Gorka make up the assault story?

WalrusGumboot · 14/12/2016 23:20

It said on the news just now that the police have dropped the investigation as there was no evidence of assault?! Confused

DaphneCanDoBetterThanFred · 15/12/2016 00:08

That doesn't mean he made it up. As far as I can tell it means that police would have reviewed cctv and witness statements and not been able to see/identify who did it. When Dh had a similar situation the case was dropped citing no evidence - not because it didn't happen but because the evidence wasn't available for the police to make a judgement on (cctv that would have shown them was out of order, no witnesses, Dh unable to identify them as he'd never seen them before or since.) Not that unusual, sadly.

BalloonSlayer · 15/12/2016 05:59

"no evidence of assault" might mean it was a good old fashioned fight with no clear indication who started it. I mean, if you start a fight, or accept the invitation to one, and then get a tooth knocked out, assault isn't quite the right term.

BalloonSlayer · 15/12/2016 05:59

Sorry Daphne, I wasn't impugning your poor DH there.

EvilRingahBitch · 15/12/2016 07:14

He didn't actually make a complaint to the police himself apparently so they had nothing to go on and couldn't find anything at all on the CCTV. His stated reason for not formally reporting it is that he wanted to move on, which is possible I guess.

MrsJayy · 15/12/2016 08:42

Ticker going along GMB screen saying Darcy is rumoured to be taking over from Len not sure about Darcy as head judge she isn't very good at hiding her favourite men dancers is she ?

SoupDragon · 15/12/2016 08:59

The only source for that seems to be the Sun though. It seems very unlikely to me - I thought they'd said the new Len would be head judge. Maybe even Darcey herself said that.

MrsJayy · 15/12/2016 09:06

Ah fair enough morning TV must get their showbiz news from the sun won't get too worked up about it then

SoupDragon · 15/12/2016 09:14

Well, it might be true I guess. Even the Daily Mail says something like "according to The Sun..." though.

It just seems so unlikely that they'd go with the least experienced person.

ppeatfruit · 15/12/2016 10:52

Yes ref. Tess she seems to be a nicer person when she's not following a daft script. I saw her on a quiz show and she came over as bright and pleasant. I guess she's be better if she wrote her own scripts That silly slapstick with Claud is down to the idiot script writer IMO Xmas Grin

CaveMum · 15/12/2016 12:02

Oh god I hope it's not Darcey for Head Judge! She's a stunning ballerina but her knowledge of ballroom/latin technique is very limited.

She so often makes comments to the celebs that are just utterly wrong when it comes to the technical aspects. Her "lean back" comments to the female celebs in particular always grate on me!

Instead of the comedy VTs every week it would be so much better to have two of the Pros demonstrate the technical aspects of each dance and a few of the common figures to look out for.

morningtoncrescent62 · 15/12/2016 12:18

Noooooooo, please not Darcey for head judge. I can't bear her - all syrup and no substance. I've been fast forwarding through her comments all series. She makes my teeth feel funny. I'd love it if they would bring back Arlene as head judge, and replace Darcey with Karen H.

I agree. I used to like it when there were just two dance types each week, one ballroom one Latin, and there would be a bit of an intro to them. A demo of each would be really interesting.

SapphireStrange · 15/12/2016 12:53

I like Darcey but her as head judge would be a travesty. I'm going to write a stiff letter to the Beeb about it.

I hate the VTs and they take up so much TIME! And I was Hmm about Louise getting to go to Paris for one. I used to like watching them, you know, training.

sushisack · 15/12/2016 14:38

Oh that would be so good! Agreed with what you and pp have said about darcy, I actually really like her but have always admired her as I grew up doing ballet but the head judge needs to be an expert in ballroom, I found Len extremely irritating but did love it when he got excited by a tiny move or got really technical, I find it really interesting.

DangerQuakeRhinoSnake · 15/12/2016 14:54

Yes, it would be nice to know what the judges are actually looking for, for those of us who don't know much about it. I feel less connected somehow since they stopped doing the demos.

sushisack · 15/12/2016 15:00

Oh i haven't watched from the beginning so I didn't know that was something they used to do. But yes I know nothing about ballroom so only really know if a dance "looks" good. I'd much prefer a demo rather than seeing celebs go to Paris or London zoo.

CaveMum · 15/12/2016 15:03

There are some great YouTube tutorial videos for the dances that focus on individual figures and areas of technique.

For example this is what the "Sliding Doors" figure in Rumba should look like (it's a Gold figure so an advanced one to dance) - Len referred to it as one of his favourite steps to see.

DeepanKrispanEven · 15/12/2016 18:03

They need the time to set up the set, props, lighting etc. But there must be so many better ways of dealing with that problem - as pp have said, they could give background information about the dance, or just a straight clip from their training; or, of course, they could not transmit live and just edit the gaps out.

iklboo · 15/12/2016 18:21

Ooh a tutorial & 'what to watch out for' video would be good instead of 'Celebrity visited old school / gran / Asda' VT
