Just watched the result show. Can't believe that Claudia has gone and Louise is still in.
Louise may be a lovely person , but I don't enjoy watching her.
I am still not a fan of Danny, but if I think that he deserves to win.
Oti has done a fantastic job with him.
I have got to say that this is the first time that I have actually felt that the show is fixed. It's a real shame, because I love watching Strictly.

GrouchyKiwi · 11/12/2016 21:02

I think Brendan isn't coming back next year so he's happy to say what he really thinks in those columns.

digerd · 11/12/2016 21:03

Nothing can compare with Flavia and Vincent's ATs.

Ore's AS to Singing in the Rain showed great skill and flair in musical dancing .

ElizaSchuyler · 11/12/2016 21:04

With regards to Danny Mac's training:

He did play Gavroche in Les Muscehen he was 10 ish. It is a non dancing role.

He must have had some local dance school training as a child/teen because he got accepted to the degree course of Arts Ed after an acting course at Chichester. Arts Ed is a triple threat college. He would have studied dance to a high level for 3 years.

MrsJayy · 11/12/2016 21:10

Danny has also been in wicked. Dd is a drama studen they do get dance training

ElizaSchuyler · 11/12/2016 21:11

Yes. He understudied Boq in Wicked after he graduated from Arts Ed.

MyWineTime · 11/12/2016 21:16

I suppose the fact is the majority of the viewing public have no dance experience and base it purely on personality. Louise does come across as nice and inoffensive which probably appeals to a lot of people.
I have no dance experience - it's not even relevant. If they were looking for the best technical dancers, they would base it entirely on professional judges scores.
However, I am still perfectly capable of deciding which dancer I enjoy watching the most - I'm not restricted to mindless - 'well she seems like a nice girl' voting. Nice and inoffensive doesn't get anyone to the final.
Personality will keep people in for longer, but not all the way.
People are voting for Louise because they like her dancing. She must have topped the public vote this week.
She's not my favourite - I'm backing Danny, but I did prefer her to Claudia.

ElizaSchuyler · 11/12/2016 21:17

I think the dance training drama students get is variable depending on the institution.
At dds school drama students get 1 general jazz class per week.
Compare that with MT/Dancecstudents who where between 1/2 to 2/3 of their timetable is dance

MrsJayy · 11/12/2016 21:27

I dont mind they have dance training tbf they are actors /entertainers they are going to have done a bit of dance. Its the no improvement that annoys me they start well and stay the exactly the same.

CaveMum · 11/12/2016 21:32

MyWine I wasn't trying to offend anyone, I'm basing my statement on the fact that the majority of people I speak to about Strictly openly admitted that they vote based on who they like, not who is necessarily the best dancer.

Best dancer can also be subjective, some people will say it's the person they enjoy watching the most. I base it on their ability and technique.

One of Danny's lifts went wrong in the dance off - very inelegant dismount.

Gutted for Claudia. Thought she danced her socks off and was better than Danny in dance off.

As for Danny's song being more emotional - well, it was!! Totally different kind of song. Can't compare it to a quickstep!

Fuck it.

Not keen on any of the finalists now.

bonfireheart · 11/12/2016 21:50

I'm not even going to bother with the final. I don't even have a TV to watch it! Was going to my sisters and make an evening of it, but neither Ore nor Louise would tempt me to. Last year I knew the person I wanted to win wouldn't win, and they didn't, but I still watched the show and enjoyed it because even second and third place were good. Having to sit through three dances from Ore and Louise is too much for anyone.

Millimat · 11/12/2016 21:58

In some ways I'd like ore to win so that Jo wins over her brother Grin
I have to say I loved dannys dance but also claudias quickstep.

Chipstick10 · 11/12/2016 22:00

I'm convinced it's fixed. I find it very strange that even with very low scores Ed was still there and yet the second Darcy went public and said she wanted him out and the MSM all reported that the show wanted Ed out because he would make a mockery of it if he won , he was gone that very week.
Voting figures are never released. Why not? The xf report voting percentages. I don't trust the BBC an inch

CaveMum · 11/12/2016 22:06

Lilia Kopylova has tweeted that the Final should have been Danny, Ore and Claudia.

DeepanKrispanEven · 11/12/2016 22:13

Why would anyone bother to fix this? Clearly being on the tour has nothing to do with being in the final, otherwise people like Russell Grant and Anita Rani wouldn't have gone on the tour. If everyone was so desperate for a Clifton to win, they wouldn't have left Joanne out last year. It's only a Saturday night show, FFS, within a few days people will have largely forgotten about it, what difference does it make to anyone at the BBC who wins?

ilovesooty · 11/12/2016 22:13

I agree with her. Louise had the two weakest dances of the night - streets behind everyone else's - and she's been over marked and over praised for weeks on end.

Redcrayons · 11/12/2016 22:21

I also can't see why they would want to fix it either. Who gains? They BBC don't profit from the tour so makes no difference who goes on it. The final is all public voting, so they can't fix that.

DeepanKrispanEven · 11/12/2016 22:22

But loads of people must have voted for Louise, so the supposed overmarking hasn't realistically made any difference.

JennyHolzersGhost · 11/12/2016 22:45

Wasn't sure who to back this week and not sure who to back in the final. Hmmm. Not feeling it TBH. Def not Danny though. Back to ABD again so I guess I'll have to vote for whoever has the best chance against him.

SoupDragon · 11/12/2016 22:54

The final is all public voting, so they can't fix that

Since they don't publish voting numbers, of course they can. In fact even if they did publish figures they could.

I don't see why they would fix it though. It just comes across as if they do.

Rhubarb01 · 11/12/2016 22:56

I don't know who, if anyone, profits from the SCD tour or where the profits go but at the very least I would assume it has to cover its costs. If the final contains someone who isn't taking part in the tour it's entirely possible that the winner of the series won't be on the tour and that could well hinder ticket sales. Clearly that won't be a problem now.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 11/12/2016 23:01

It's Craig's company isn't it?

2rebecca · 11/12/2016 23:02

This weekend was the only time we voted this year and we both voted for Claudia :(

EvilRingahBitch · 11/12/2016 23:22

Tickets for the tour are already selling extremely well - none of the best seats available for the London dates, only individual seats available for Birmingham etc. They're not going to lose money. And if Claudia was sufficiently popular to be in danger of winning then she'd not have been in the dance off before, and she wouldn't have been in the dance off today. Danny is a slightly different kettle of fish because he genuinely didn't need people's votes - there was no way he'd have gone home in the danceoff on that AS. Claudia very obviously did need the votes but didn't get them.
