New thread Grin

So annoyed with the whole spoiler thing. I never look at the result and twice this year it has been easy to work out what happened from people making little comments. If you have seen the result then any comment along the lines of pleased/ disappointed/ shocked etc can make it easy to work out. Wish they'd go back to having the results later on the Saturday but I guess the BBC like getting good Sunday night viewing figures.

Floralnomad · 11/12/2016 12:56

moonrise , totally agree , I always look at the spoiler because I don't watch the Sunday result show and very often I've looked on this thread and it's obvious that other people have seen the spoiler and then posted comments , I did say something about it a couple of weeks ago as it's not in the spirit of these threads IMO .

sterlingcooper · 11/12/2016 13:37

Just watched Claudia's quickstep back and while there was obviously gapping, is it even possible not to gap given how much shorter she is than him? She'd have to be literally smooshing her boobs into his belly, and then I don't think their legs would be free to move properly...

ThursdayLastWeek · 11/12/2016 13:38

I absolutely agree that there is no need whatsoever to mention the spoiler.
Just don't do it folks.

I'm gutted that I was out last night and therefore wasn't able to vote. I would have voted 2x Claudia and 1x Danny.

I haven't been a Danny Mac fan all this series, but even I'm starting to baulk at Louise and Kevin getting similar scores to him and Oti. It's a joke IMO. Popular vote is one thing, but the judges ought to provide some kind of consistency.

And I simply LOVE Claudia and AJ. I think he has pushed her really hard with some fantastic choreography during this series. I agreed with Craig about the emotional connection in say, the rumba, but when it's a dance that suits her (Charleston for eg) she's fabulous!

nothingreallymatters · 11/12/2016 13:43

Claudia looked lovely in that purple dress,I think that AJ is too tall for her.
Who is his professional partner?

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 11/12/2016 13:52

He dances with Chloe - they were semi-finalists on BGT a few years ago, I think.

JennyHolzersGhost · 11/12/2016 14:01

Agree with what's already been said about the spoiler. What is the POINT of telling us you've seen it ? I sometimes go look (depends how bovvered I'm feeling with that particular week's performances) but I don't then pop up to smugly inform everyone that I know the result. Because it ruins the discussion if people feel like other people are coming from a position of more knowledge.
I even object to 'spoiler's up' posts because it simply reminds everyone that the Sunday show is delayed. It's lousy. And the spoiler goes up at around the same kind of time each Saturday so if anyone is interested in seeing it they will already know when and where to look.
If you want to look at the spoiler then look at the spoiler but don't come on here showboating about it and don't make it obvious that you know who's out. If that means you can't trust yourself to post then don't post ffs. It's basic courtesy.

nothingreallymatters · 11/12/2016 14:11

Thanks theonly,Claudia would be perfect heightwise with Vincent, wish he
and Flavia were still in it.

CaveMum · 11/12/2016 14:29

sterling whilst such a big height difference is not ideal, it's perfectly possible to maintain body contact with your partner if you apply the technique correctly.

A lot of it will come down to inhibitions - you really do have to stick yourself to your partner's body and your legs constantly brush against each other (particularly in the thigh area!) so any hint of self-consciousness will stop you dancing correctly.

My teacher also says to me that it's the woman's responsibility to dance "up" to her partner's height. The man should never dance "down" to her height as it will wreck his posture and ruin the top line.

ilovesooty · 11/12/2016 14:39

Well said Jenny

SapphireStrange · 11/12/2016 14:43

Really weird night IMO.

Scores were mainly meaningless. Judges watching a different dance from me and from each other.

Claudia's rumba was all stoppy-pos-ey. No flow or smoothness. They used to go on about the rumba needing continuous movement, which this one didn't. She had black feathers or something stuck to her arse too.

Her quickstep was a delight though; sporty and bright and precise.

Louise's tango was dull and I didn't understand the concept or the song or the costumes. Her samba was like someone's very English auntie being made to dance at a wedding before she's had enough pink gin. The judges are so biased towards her it's embarrassing.

Ore's quickstep was unremarkable and not one of Joanne's best choreographic efforts. I liked his AT even though I'd have liked more ganchos and more moves generally from him. I thought he had more presence than normal in it.

Danny's salsa was sticky and heavy. Agreed with Craig that there was no figure-eight hip action. But Bruno just openly rampantly fancies him –in fact they all do, I suspect even Len.

Liked the AS. Very Gene Kelly; muscular but balletic. Didn't like some of the lifts though; they didn't fit with the dance. I didn't get the concept either; was she about to kill herself at the end by hurling herself of a jetty?

I must say though, Danny is VERY pretty I think I could be his mother

morningtoncrescent62 · 11/12/2016 16:01

The more I think about it, the more irritated I am by the mark for Joanne's Argentine Tango at which Ore was also present.

This. As pp have said, the scoring last night seemed all over the place. For me (and I say this not particularly liking him), Danny's in a different class to the other remaining celebs and Oti choreographs really interesting, exciting dances. I was mesmerised by both their dances. Starting off with 9s and 10s for Louise and Kevin was bonkers - the dance didn't merit it, and it meant there was nowhere logical to go. From the looks of things, the good people in the costumes department share some of the hate on here for KFG - first his weird cardi in the tango, and then that awful fruit hat poor Louise had to wear. I don't think anyone could dance their best with that thing perched on their head.

I would have said they're really trying hard to keep Ore. His quickstep was good but not that good (shouldn't have been marked higher than Danny & Oti) and the AT didn't have enough content for Ore to mark higher than 8s, I thought. Between his lovley parents being in the audience having been flown over from Nigeria, plus blatant overmarking, I can't imagine for a moment that he'll be out.

Whatever it is that Bruno takes, he'd had too much of it last night. He nearly fell over when the judges did their thing at the start, then falling off his chair for no apparent reason. Maybe a clean sweep of judges for next year? Or just leave Craig and replace the others, maybe.

nothingreallymatters · 11/12/2016 16:08

Replace Tess too.

MyWineTime · 11/12/2016 16:21

I don't understand the objections of the Cliftons, I like them, though I do think that Kevin is over due a duffer.

Danny is the one i enjoy watching the most and the one i want to win.

Why would anyone boast about the fact that have no patience and were incapable of waiting less than 24 hours to hear the result? There is absolutely no need to tell anyone anything. If others are equally impatient, they can go and look it up themselves.

sterlingcooper · 11/12/2016 16:57

Oh yes, I'd love to get rid of Tess (though fear it will never happen). I feel like she is slowly morphing into Bruce, what with all the 'well we loved it didn't we?' comments. And I know all TV presenters have to do it, but she really takes inane grinning to a new level. She used to have a personality, but she's just turned into a kind of bland presenting robot now.

morningtoncrescent62 · 11/12/2016 17:01

I'd love to see Tess replaced by Steph McGovern who does the business slot in BBC Breakfast. I think she's great - intelligent, glamorous and good at interacting with all sorts of people (from what we've seen on Breakfast). She and Claudia would make a brilliant team.

DeepanKrispanEven · 11/12/2016 17:15

I agree it's pretty ridiculous that they haven't given Kevin a duffer yet. Apart from anything else, it puts unfair pressure on his partners who don't want to be the first person to take him out of the competition. But he does work very hard, produces some good choreography, and seems to be very supportive to his partners, so I don't understand all the hate round here for him.

maddiemookins16mum · 11/12/2016 17:56

Danny is "too good", I hope he comes second. Claudia relies on her gymnast abilities. I'd like One of the other two to win. I think Louise will because Kevin is also very popular.

raisedbyguineapigs · 11/12/2016 18:53

I'd like to get rid of Bruno. He's so Oct the top to the point of being completely useless. No constructive criticism, gurning, flailing about, he's the Louis Walsh of Strictly.

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 11/12/2016 18:56

He has a lot of energy for a 61 year old must be the coke Wink

SapphireStrange · 11/12/2016 19:09

Bruno is definitely gakked up to the hilt every week.

He's pointless. Like an embarrassing uncle who you hope will stay in his corner.

Littlesmiler · 11/12/2016 19:18

Anybody else think the judges are favouriting Ore? I mean come on top of the leaderboard? Really! Can't help but think it's all racism related (the papers saying a few weeks ago how the strictly voters are racist etc).

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 11/12/2016 19:19

I actually prefer Bruno's feedback to Darcey's.
