Time for a new thread.

I am hoping by the end of this thread Phelan will have disappeared, Anna and family will have moved away and someone will have remembered to book a babysitter for baby Jack.

OP posts:
Samatamfabahaba · 20/01/2017 21:13

I left the room. My DP thinks it's hilarious how wound up I get, but there is no way she wouldn't left him and "met him at the airport". This storyline is just painful and stupid and makes me hate Corrie. It's ruined the whole programme for me and I just don't want to watch it ever again.

Dummy. Spit. Angry

eddiemairswife · 20/01/2017 21:21

I wouldn't recommend the hairdresser that Eileen went to.

ellenanora5 · 20/01/2017 21:36

Christ on a bike, what a load of crap, could Steph not have opened her big gob instead of standing there fish like and said " oh we're off to visit Katie for a few days and Andy is at the bank, we're picking him up on the way byeeee"

And don't get me started on boring bloody Chesney, he needs to go now!!!

Angry
woodhill · 20/01/2017 21:41

Also couldn't they have put a chain on their door to stop Phelan barging in or told Eileen.

Did No one else notice Phelan spiking Kevin's drink.

Sillysausage123 · 20/01/2017 21:49

I'm so annoyed at Andys pathetic ending, I was willing him to use common sense and either get the better of phelan or disssappear into the sunset.
To go out like that is pathetic.

If I was Andy I wouldn't have opened the door with Kevs laptop open
If I was recording on my phone phelans conversation then I would have made it less obvious
Its like he makes every mistake in horror movies, im surprised he didn't run upstairs to get away from him tripping over nothing losing his clothes in the process.
It was shockingly bad.
Disclaimer I've had a few wines and probably more annoyed than I should be!

youngestisapsycho · 20/01/2017 21:55

I'm glad someone finally thought to do a secret recording! In all the years I've watched soaps, I always say to DH why don't they secretly record?!?

ScruffyTheJanitor · 20/01/2017 22:29

What a crock of crap.

Steph didnt warn Andy? Not even a text?
Why leave laptop on display and open the door? It could have been anyone.
How did Phelan know he was being recorded?
Why would he tell Andy to keep laptop?
Andy: 34, fit and healthy. Phelan: 57, bacon butties and beer. And yet Andy couldn't fight him off? In fact Andy let Phelan sit on him long enough to have a little chat?
Phelan battered around the head, not a mark on him at the wedding?
Phelan carried a body, it would appear, from the flat to his yard, open the van, put the body in the van, all in broad daylight? Whilst Tim was wheeling a tandem around, taxi firm coming and going, people going to the cafe etc etc.
Why was Phelan ready for wedding so early? He had time to chat with Steph and Luke, loiter in the ginnels, have a fight, move a body, bury a body, dry clean his clothes (not shoes obviously) then arrive in time for the wedding to go ahead? Nahhhh the registrar would have told Eileen to beggar off.

None of it makes any famed logical sense.

AmIthatbloodycold · 20/01/2017 22:49

Pile of push. Do the writers really think we all love to hate Phelan

Well I don't. I just hate him and wish he would disappear

And as if Steph would, just accept that Andy wasn't coming to the airport, and didn't cross her mind that he might have come to harm

And as for dickhead Phelan carrying a dead body out in broad daylight. Absolute shite

SoTheySentMeA · 20/01/2017 23:02

Just caught up - AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So Phelan gets away with (presumably) killing Andy. That is it. I am done.

Clawdy · 20/01/2017 23:06

Yes,how absolutely ludicrous that Steph would leave in broad daylight in the middle of the street, when she knew their lives were in danger. Unbelievable.

Sillysausage123 · 20/01/2017 23:20

Why wouldn't Steph at least warn Luke as well ?
Even if she believed Andy buggered off she should at least warn her brother that phelan will go to any lengths to ruin Kevin's life and Luke may be caught in the crossfire seeing as he works and is friends with him!

Comedyusername · 20/01/2017 23:49

Agree with everyone else, plus wouldn't super savvy business woman Sophie have set up a back up for the laptop data? Plot holes all over the shop!

And, I find it very uncomfortable viewing with Bethany and the creepy guy.

It might be time to stop watching, which would be a shame given I've watched it pretty much all my life (that looks terribly sad when written down!!)

FantasticButtocks · 21/01/2017 00:32

Andy is the most STUPID and INEFFECTUAL waste of space! Every single thing he does he acts like a wet dishcloth about it. And no way would Kevin have stood next to Phelan for so long and not noticed the vodka in his beer. Hmm

Empress13 · 21/01/2017 00:51

What's going on with creepy pervert and Bethany - is it a grooming story ( pardon the pun given what she was videoing). Poor girl has been thru enough !

Yes how come there wasn't one mark on Phelan after Limp lettuce Andy beat him up?

Akire · 21/01/2017 01:46

I missed Wednesday's so bit suprised that 3in meant I missed the whole Eileen getting engaged? Booking register, getting son to. E there??

Agree totally stupid about Andy. I mean he was useless wet dish cloth but how can one man kill a father and son? We like step why has she gone?? What will the restaurant do with two workers quit!!

He could got on plane with laptop then emailed video to police, who stays in harms way while Phelon has a key and can walk in whenever he likes.

Also missed the homeless their getting s job at cafe, and her thing with new stalker bloke. Though I did call out a grooming story ages ago

Optimist1 · 21/01/2017 06:38

I don't understand Todd's position in all of this? I thought that although he knew much of what Phelan had done he was playing the long game to show him up for the crook that he is. But he allowed it to get to the stage where Eileen actually marries him? No way. Sad

Millimat · 21/01/2017 09:25

It's ridiculous. Like others I have watched corrie all my life but enough is enough Angry I think I would prefer to just watch paint dry!

eddiemairswife · 21/01/2017 09:46

I didn't realise Phelan had killed Andy. Is the body in the red van? It really is a ridiculous storyline.

MyBeloved · 21/01/2017 10:06

It's all a pile of shite.

TheLovelyLinda · 21/01/2017 10:13

I'm hoping that Phelan gets his comeuppance. Biggest pile of shite since Reg Holdsworths' character Grin.

ProfYaffle · 21/01/2017 10:14

"It's all a pile of shite."

Succinct but accurate.

stonecircle · 21/01/2017 11:01

Not only has Phelan had time to clean himself up and dispose of a body, presumably he's also had time to clean up the flat before Luke returns (broken mirror etc).

And no marks on him after the fight to arouse suspicion?

And if they were going to risk Phelan finding out by telling Luke they were leaving, why would they at least not give Luke a 'watch your back with Phelan' warning. Would they really go knowing how much Phelan was hurting innocent people? Why would they not do a middle of the night flit to avoid Phelan seeing them? It's all so bloody unbelievable!!

I don't watch Eastenders but wasn't there some big reveal a while back about who'd murdered someone? Coronation Street scriptwriters are incapable of creating that level of intrigue and suspense.

I stick with it because I've watched it all my life and I used to watch it with my mum who died last year. But it's such an effort now!

ScruffyTheJanitor · 21/01/2017 12:35

The term suspension of disbelief or willing suspension of disbelief has been defined as a willingness to suspend one's critical faculties and believe the unbelievable; sacrifice of realism and logic for the sake of enjoyment

This sums up watching Corrie nowadays.
It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't presented as a slice of northern life soap opera, as it is, it's a chore.

JustDanceAddict · 21/01/2017 17:15

Totally agree Stonecircle. I've watched it most of my life too - my late mum was a big Corrie fan so was always on at home. I pretty much stopped watching Eastenders as got so bored of all the Phil/Sharon/Mitchell gangster rubbish, but I watched a bit over Cmas and it was better than Corrie.
Phelan needs to bugger off now. I didn't even know him & Eileen were back together until v recently and people are so stupid in that bloody street. aw someone else said / why do a flit in broad daylight, how could someone not see phelan put a body in a red van - and why did Andy just let Phelan into the flat. Surely front doors have buzzers so how did he get in? 'Oh hi it's phelan here, come to murder you.' 'Ok then, come on up' - wtaf!! Its just beyond the pale.

eddiemairswife · 21/01/2017 18:34

That really spoilt last night's episodes. I thought the scene when Michelle and Liz were talking was very well done, and Sally and Tim on the tandem was funny.
Now I'm wondering how Phelan will dispose of the body, and if silly Sinead is going to shack up with Daniel or move into a spare room in Luke's flat.
