I've just had a great idea for a shocker of a storyline! Everyone has to buy a washing machine for Christmas because of the launderette closing - then imagine all the huge cardboard boxes and tons of polystyrene packaging taking over the square with no bin collections over the Xmas period. Ronnie has to call off her wedding as she literally can't leave the house because she's trapped inside by the rubbish

Yes, the Martin breaking the news that, shock horror, he has yo work through Lily's nativity really annoyed me. It annoyed me further when they blamed Ian for Martin's lack of organisation, asking for holiday at the last minute.

Agree, all the once strong women have all been turned into simpering caricatures of housewives who do as their husband's tell them (Stacey, Whitney, Ronnie). I still love Shirley, she's the anti-simpering kind.

She's a fantastic actor though, her post partum psychosis storyline was gripping last year.

Love Stacey. She was great in that show where she was in the army as a medic.

Every plot to do with Vincent was a mess. Shame as he's actually decent and I like him and Kim together.

Looks like another cold Christmas in store for Jay. I don't understand why he can't stay with Dot or Roxy? Dot enjoys being charitable and helping people. Roxy is related to him. I got as far as Sharon hurtling up the stairs screeching and waking the whole house up before turning it off again. Wish I could get back into it. Maybe the Christmas and NY episodes will hook me again.

Also have the ambient noises and background music got louder or is it just me? The new producer knows he's not still doing a radio soap doesn't he? We can see that they're in a cafe. We don't need the dinging of a till down one ear and rattling cups down the other.
