New shinny thread here!

OP posts:

They usually do a boring xmas play episode in the run up to xmas day. I doubt it'll be on the day itself.

It'll be a good chance for Denise to go into labour as she watches the play!

The80sweregreat · 13/12/2016 16:48

ding, they did this last year with Stacey when she had Arthur, then spent the next few weeks having a breakdown! ( poor thing) I hope this doenst happen to Denise.
I know Kim will go ape when she finds out Denise's plans for the poor baby - she will not be happy.

WomanFromAnotherPlace · 13/12/2016 18:23

The80s yes that's the one! Can't think off the top of my head when it happened before, but I remember commenting to DP whenever it does happen that it looks like a student has taken over production.
Ok, so we may have 2 'adoption' stories running side-by-side. I think Ron-gar will decide it's not best to adopt Amy and Denise will go through with adoption.

Akire · 13/12/2016 20:21

Well that was exciting a chair!! Lee is very luckily Whitney hadn't thrown his breakfast all over him. Not only made it but been out to borrow egg cups and didn't even eat it!

it's 11 days to Christmas when exactly are they supposed to be putting play on? It's going to be dire. Nothing worse than bad acting than actors trying to act bad acting!

What was Mik getting Linda fired up about Christmas plot? So he gets her annoyed about stag do and what was supposed to happen??

How was the pub going provide place to stay with what 5 bedrooms? Yes that's bound to happen.

I thought Roxy made that Mary outfit with horses on ages ago?

OP posts:
HateSummer · 13/12/2016 22:05

Why has Carmel realised with only 1 full week left to go before Christmas that she wants a Christmas party/dinner?! Work places start organising Christmas dinners in October...but she's going to manage to get a big table booked the last few days?

Stacey has turned into Pauline.

ZZZzzzzzzzz

EnidButton · 13/12/2016 22:08

Bet you a mince pie that the Christmas episodes are all about faaarmily and the Christmas play. It'll be the most ordinary Christmas ever seen in Walford.

Although they often do a big thing for the New Year episodes so perhaps it'll buck up then.

EnidButton · 13/12/2016 22:10

And who tf looked at Tinkly Whitney and monotone Lee and thought, "you know what? I bet they'd be perfect for a really prominent storyline over the Christmas season."

No.

Akire · 13/12/2016 22:14

Roxy wants to turn her life around but.l can't quite manage it. So instead of being Disney mum every other weekend she's just going be alcoholic number 2?

Out all night pub all day, great!

Why are all market traders broke? Does no one make any money? Jonny can cover stall for few hours so Martin can go surely. He seems to put his hand at everything else.

We NEED some square decorations not Christmas at all. Maybe the plot is Ian will donate all his trees he can't flog on Christmas Eve?

The Christmas Day wedding is boring, someone gets married every Christmas. Enough.

OP posts:
Akire · 13/12/2016 22:17

lily school play had more rehearsal time than "the big play" and no one will be paying to see it! I wonder if her and Amy are in same play then we can watch Roxy turn up drunk and make a pig ear of it in true soap style.

OP posts:
dingdongdigeridoo · 13/12/2016 22:20

I feel like they are gearing up for a Scrooge style storyline with Ian.

Love how Carmel was playing the martyr because she had to book a restaurant for a big group. Has she never heard of the internet? Or just calling up for a reservation? Must be a real lack of restaurants in London!

MrsBotox · 14/12/2016 07:53

Why can't Martin stand up to Ian and tell him he is going to school play?
Why are so many female characters fawning over useless men - Whitless, Sharon, Martin's daughter (can't remember her name, was a Goth)?
I love the way characters talk about fairly local places like Ongar and Epping as though they were exotic, far-flung lands.
Going to a pub in Epping Forest for Xmas lunch followed by a walk in the snow?? Really? Probably get ripped off in the gastropub then trip over the rough sleepers and doggers in the forest.

NigellasGuest · 14/12/2016 08:24

And why did shaz keep saying g Epping forest is lovely in the snow as a way of convincing the others it would be a good idea to go to a pub there on Christmas Day? When did Epping last have a white Christmas? About a million years ago probs

The80sweregreat · 14/12/2016 11:22

ha ha , yes, I had to smile when they said a pub Christmas dinner! firstly, Sharon would have to booked that up in September ( especially as there are a few of them) then they have to travel up there ( only ever seen phil and Sharon in a car now and again) and it would cost a fortune too. I don't think we/ve had snow on Christmas day in years and years - this is Essex they are talking about not Scotland ( where your more likely to find some snow I would imagine!) all very silly.
I am agog how Stacey and Martin were struggling with money so much only a few months ago and badgering Belinda for rent, now they have lost her and Kyle's rent money yet no mention of finances at all!

The80sweregreat · 14/12/2016 11:23
  • couldn't Sharon arrange dinner at the Albert, the pub that nobody seems to mention or indeed go in anymore ( has it shut down?) or go to Beales??
iknowimcoming · 14/12/2016 11:31

I really don't know what to make of it all atm Confused agree building up to Ian/Scrooge story, also I assume we're going to have a Christmas miracle of a new liver for Phil zzzzz. Thought it was dodgy of them to mention Mick and Lyn's wedding anniversary as New Year's Day when Ron and Jack are getting married on same day and acting as if it's such an original idea. Reminded me of the good old days with last years Lyn/Mick/Shirley/Dean thing now that was exciting! Also agree the whole Martin/Lily's play thing is ridiculous and thought the whole sitting her down to tell her martins not going thing was stupid and overdone - not to mention, I've just had to break my daughters heart - really? I think Lily's dealt with worse!

HateSummer · 14/12/2016 12:17

Yes about the Lily/Martin play thing. I mean wtf? My dh didn't get to watch ds's first xmas performance. By age 4 he knows daddy goes to work during the day. Why the fuck sit a child down and make them sad about it? I bet my ds would've bawled his eyes out too if we'd sat him down and spooked him like that 😂

CorporalNobbyNobbs · 14/12/2016 12:32

thought it was dodgy of them to mention Mick and Lyn's wedding anniversary as New Year's Day when Ron and Jack are getting married on same day and acting as if it's such an original idea.

Ronnie got married on nyd herself last year Grin

CorporalNobbyNobbs · 14/12/2016 12:34

Sorry two years ago!

iknowimcoming · 14/12/2016 14:32

Yeah whatever did happen to Charlie - did it ever get revealed?

coolpotato · 14/12/2016 14:44

Who was Charlie? I have a complete and utter mental blank on him. What did he do, what did he look like? He was married to Ronnie?

Doesn't help that I keep thinking of Charlie from Corrie (him who got done in by Tracey).

The80sweregreat · 14/12/2016 14:47

iknow, I think that Roxy thought Ronnie had done something to Charlie, but Ronnie gave her a mobile and told her to ring him up and he was okay. cant remember when this happened ( after Ronnie was in a coma perhaps?) but I do recall he was alright. Fatboy hasn't been mentioned though!
Is lee still in debt? they are still in the flat so he must be paying the bills somehow.

HateSummer · 14/12/2016 14:47

Charlie was dot's grandson. Vincent got rid of him and then he phoned a couple of months later and said he was fine ConfusedHmm.

That's the last big storyline Vincent had.

The80sweregreat · 14/12/2016 14:51

Cool Charlie Cotton was Nick's son, he turned up with his mum in tow ( an actress from Father Ted I believe..) when Nick was supposed to be dead ( but he wasn't) ( although Nick is dead now)
Charlie worked in a care home - Ronnie wanted a child and had a fling with him and they got married - for a little while - just before her car accident. I recall Vincent coming to see Ronnie and something happening there too.
She had Matthew and roxy and Charlie looked after him - once she came out of the coma she ditched Charlie and he left. see my post above about what roxy thought had happened. they must be divorced as she is marrying Jack now, but I don't remember her mentioning it. Its vague but I think that's what happened.

CorporalNobbyNobbs · 14/12/2016 14:53

Didn't Roxy and Charlie sleep together while Ronnie was in the hospital and that's why she ditched him??

The80sweregreat · 14/12/2016 14:57

yes, that's right I remember now. not that Ron seemed to care much as she was having it away with Vincent too..
although Vincent went back to Kim and nothing more was said.. Vincent seems to have disappeared.

Ron recovered well from her coma - its never mentioned!
