Spin away oh sequined ones...

OP posts:
ppeatfruit · 27/11/2016 10:11

Yes I heard that too, sweet Grin

WouldHave · 27/11/2016 10:16

I just can't see how four 9s is undermarking for Claudia. The whole thing just lacked the spark that you need for AT. I find her boring, and this was more of the same.

You have to give Ed credit for trying in the cha cha, given that he must have known that the result would be precisely the same as if he'd just walked around a bit.

GrouchyKiwi · 27/11/2016 10:32

I wonder if one of the reasons it feels a bit flat this year is that some of the celebs are taking it too seriously (Rinder, Ore, Danny?) It's usually felt more lighthearted and like the celebs were just doing it for the fun of dancing. It feels more competitive this year.

raisedbyguineapigs · 27/11/2016 10:35

Re: Greg, I think the rumours did for him with the public rather than his family asking for him to be removed. Surely he could have just faked an injury in that case and pulled out. Didn't the judge's five him fairly high marks?

SoupDragon · 27/11/2016 10:55

I think Ed would have been bottom of the Cha Cha Challenge even if he danced like Danny.

MrsJamin · 27/11/2016 11:00

ppeatfruit what a ludicrous suggestion, his partner was very supportive and her sister was in the SCD #7 thread saying there was nothing but a friendship between them. Can people stop gossiping about it now?

QueenMortificado · 27/11/2016 11:05

Claudia would've been so well suited to dancing with Vincent

Although Janette Manrara is under 5ft as well and manages ok!

awaynboilyurheid · 27/11/2016 11:32

No idea how Louise won the cha cha challenge, we were looking at it and it looked very pedestrian , except Craig loves her and bringing in your celebrity millionaire husband in the VT did her no harm.
Really loved Joanne and Ore, Danny and Otie, Claudia and AJ all my favourites this week and Ed is certainly entertaining. A much needed tonic for my elderly mum who laughs her head off at him. The way he walked on to the dance floor for the cha cha had her in hysterics , great entertainment.

awaynboilyurheid · 27/11/2016 11:36

Oh and another rant she never thanks kevin !!! you would think she choreographed it herself Angry just stands there smiling and looking smug

emotionsecho · 27/11/2016 11:46

I agree with other posters that there seems to be something lacking this series, can't put my finger on it but it just all seems a bit flat. Perhaps it's the mix of celebrities, it just isn't exciting me as much as last years did.

EvilRingahBitch · 27/11/2016 11:56

I was distracted cooking while Strictly was on so didn't really see the CCC but even if I had it's impossible to look at everybody consistently in the way the judges can. I think that perceived overmarking of Louise is not so much about favouring her and Kevin but more about minimising the increasingly ludicrous ability gap between Danny and the rest of the field.

HSMMaCM · 27/11/2016 12:29

I think Ed should go and then Rinder and then Ore.

I'm not particularly interested in any of the other celebrities to win, but I do like Oti and AJ. Kevin is a great teacher I think, but I don't really watch him when he's dancing.

ppeatfruit · 27/11/2016 12:45

I liked Greg's dance a lot and Claud's was not as good (she didn't even dance some of the time just watched AJ showing off) which for some reason the judges all ignored, I just wondered why. it's all on telly MrsJamin people will speculate.

SoupDragon · 27/11/2016 13:13

can't put my finger on it but it just all seems a bit flat.

I think that's why Ed has done so well. Any other year he would have been out in the second week at most. I don't think I've ever been so entertained by one of the non dancers before.

SoupDragon · 27/11/2016 13:14

Danny is SO much more polished than the rest of them that it is utterly ridiculous. Usually the Ringer of the year isn't so obvious.

SoupDragon · 27/11/2016 13:16

it's all on telly MrsJamin people will speculate.

Except it isn't all on telly is it? We are given snapshots, often very carefully chosen and edited. And not everyone will speculate. I don't.

WouldHave · 27/11/2016 13:21

I've heard Louise thank Kevin more than once. I think she turned a corner since she did the Argentine Tango and I've enjoyed watching her dance ever since. For all that Danny is the ringer, I also enjoy watching him, just because he dances so well. His Charleston in particular was superb. I don't particularly want him to win but I wouldn't be grossly offended if he did. In fact, I'm in the odd position that the only one I don't want to win is Claudia.

QueenMortificado · 27/11/2016 13:22

Christ, Greg got voted off because he is a weak dancer! Suggestions otherwise are utterly ludicrous.

I enjoyed this when it was a thread about dancing. Malicious gossip over someone's personal life is better suited to the celeb gossip threads.

WouldHave · 27/11/2016 13:24

I agree that the suggestion that Greg left due to rumours is ludicrous. However, I don't think he was the weaker dancer in the dance-off last week. I think it was just that the judges had it in their minds that Claudia was better and they closed their eyes to the obvious flaws in her jive.

RTKangaMummy · 27/11/2016 14:06

I voted for Rob Rinder, Ore and Ed SmileSmileSmile

I know most of the people on this thread don't think they should continue but once they are gone I won't bother to watch anymore cos don't care at all about the other three

I am not an expert in dance at all so just enjoy watching SCD for entertainment and yes I know it is a dance competition but IMHO my fav 3 can dance (certainly better than anyone I know personally)

I think the judges spent more time looking at the desk during Cha Cha fixathon than they did watching the dancers, would have been interesting to see it in split screen, one camera on judges while another on dancers

CaveMum · 27/11/2016 14:53

Nice article on the remaining celebs: www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-38105944

digerd · 27/11/2016 15:07

All the camera shots showed the judges stood looking at the counter discussing pieces of paper heatedly/frantically and not once looking at the dancers on the floorConfused.

Assume they had watched beforehand but they definitely missed quite a chunk of it.

I remember one year when the celebs were tapped on the shoulders to get them off the floor leaving the winning couple to dance alone, but seems long ago and I'm getting a bit Confused in my old ageGrin so may have got that wrong?

iklboo · 27/11/2016 15:07

I think the judges have screens on the desk so they can see foot shots etc from different cameras. It's how they spot all the fleckerls, footwork etc.

987flowers · 27/11/2016 15:11

I've rewatched with my daughter who missed it.

I didn't like Claudia's dance and was really worried that she'd be out as it seemed slow and heavy. I think this was AJ's first AT so that wouldn't have helped.

With the cha cha cha, Danny and Oti seemed to manic in comparison to Louise and Kevin!

Like others though this serious hasn't had the same wow factor as ones in the past.

2kids2dogsnosense · 27/11/2016 15:12

I can remember that digerd. I was expecting it this time as well and was surprised when it didn't happen.
