iminshock A 'ringer' is something or someone masquerading as something it's not - in this case the suggestion that Danny is a professionally trained/experienced dancer taking part in a show as an amateur or beginner. - that's just an explanation not necessarily my own opinion.

The term "ringer" comes from horse racing. It was a cheating technique where a more experienced horse would race under the name of a different horse, therefore hiding his actual ability from the betting public and allowing those in the know to win more money due to the better odds.

No one is implying that Danny is cheating, but in this instance he has more xperiencecthan his competitors so it is not seen as a level playing field.

People always complain about the good dancers. But it's never a level playing field. The athletes are much fitter than normal, the musicians have better understanding of rhythm, the actors are better at creating dramatic effect. The only way to make it fair would be to only have politicians because they have all been equally crap. But nobody would want to watch that.

Digital Spy reminded me that Louise was a judge on So You Think You Can Dance? so she's a ringer too.

I would pay to watch Danny and Oti dance all night long. I think he's a great dancer, but atm I think I would like Claudia to win Strictly. Though I think she would be doing even better which a different partner.

We have no idea how many people have been voting for Danny. Up until now it's been mathematically possible for him to have literally zero viewer votes and still avoid the dance-off. We get a very limited amount of information from the bottom two placings each week about who is getting more votes than who, and at no point have we had any data that gives us the slightest clue about Danny. Although there's enough personal testimony here and on Digital Spy that some people certainly are voting for Danny simply because they connected with his dances each week.

As we get towards the semi-finals it becomes more and more difficult for the person who is bottom of the leaderboard and the person who is short on public votes to avoid the dance-off - at semi-final stage you normally need a combination of both to get out of the dance-off. In particular, if the judges are canny with their placing they can pretty much guarantee Ed will be in the dance-off at semi-final level.

On a further mathematical note, Monkseal said on Twitter that the judges did Louise a huge disservice by putting her top in the rigathon, because it makes her look safer, and probably hurts her vote, but actually joint top is no safer than second. I haven't checked his maths but I assume he's right.

Well I loved Danny and Oti's dance it was A MA ZING really Grin Shock. Oti is extremely talented.
Louise does seem to be improving in confidence, strange dress.

Claudia was 100% better than in last week's. The AT suited her, not sure about the eye make up. It's not Halloween again fgs.

Claud's trouser outfit was lovely, Tess's a normal dog's dinner!

Is it my tv or is Tess a ridiculously unnatural shade of orange?? No one is ever that colour in real life surely! Hmm

I was completely captivated by Oti and Danny's samba, it was so different and tribal, it is nice to see a male celebrity that can move like that even if he is a ringer, it's awks watching men who can't move their hips!

I can't warm to Louise, she's not doing it for me at all.

Love claudia's tonight - deserved 10s.

Judge under marked too - I liked his dance.

Danny is very good but don't warm to him.
Ed is embarrassing and should go.

The Cha Cha was fixed - Danny was fab, then Claudia. Didn't think Louise was good at all. Wtf?!

It must be very easy to choreograph for someone like Danny. Oksana and Katya have had a far harder job of it and have done a great job.

Only finished watching now, to be honest this is the first time ever that I'm getting bored with SCD, it has always been my favourite show but I'm not enjoying this series at all, it's so obvious the judges want KFG to win, Claudia is a much better dancer than Louise and she should have been marked higher, Ed and Rob have done amazingly well, they have learned to dance, Danny and Oti were brilliant tonight but I've never warmed to him, not his fault but when your great in the beginning you can only get better, I fast forward Ore and Joanne, can't stand either of them.

I hope Rob, Ed and Claudia are in the final and I want Claudia to win Smile

Don't agree soup. Sometimes it can be just as hard to choreograph for someone like Danny as in order to see any improvement the choreography has to be much more
challenging . Tbh I don't think that Danny would have done as well if he was paired with any of the other pros. Oti is fantastic
Agree that Katya has been brilliant.
Also think that AJ has been a great addition.
Hope he's back next year.

I really enjoy watching Danny and Oti, they look amazing together.

In every other series there have been people who've had lots of dancing experience and they very rarely win. I do think Danny has something special.

My dream top 3 would be Ore, Danny and Claudia.

Can't get on with Louise as she's pleasant but nothing more than that.

Ed and Judge Rinder I love to watch BUT I can see that they are the weakest two by quite a bit now.

I've just caught up on this

LOVED Claudia again tonight and am baffled as to how she is consistently under marked. Even in the cha cha. She looked really upset with both her scores.

Also loved louise tonight, her musicality is beautiful.

Ore is boring, id be happy for him to go. Rinder is lovely and obviously hurt by his marks, but I'd be happy for him to go too. Ed hasn't got enough comedy now to keep him in so he's just a weak dancer, he can also go.

Danny's routine was weird and boring for me, didn't like it at all.

I'm hoping for Danny, louise and Claudia for the final 3. Ore to make top 4. Hoping ed to go this week then Rinder next week.

Could be a shock result tonight though with louise and ore in the bottom with ore leaving?

I really didn't think Claudia was undermarked. Their Argentine Tango was just lacking something by comparison with others that have got higher marks, e.g Danny's or Harry Judd's.

We watched Danny and Claudia again as soon as the show was over.

Danny's samba was amazing mind you I only watched Oti first time round. I'm not usually a fan but that was amazing.

Ore and his crying is getting a tad tedious but i loved the dance, well I loved the choreography and the music.

Claudia was robbed, that was an amazing AT.

I dont agree with those saying the music was dire. I thought it was excellent tonight.

We voted for 'Eddy' as my daughters love him.

We also voted for the Judge as I love him. although I agree tonight was not his finest moment.

I cant bear Louse and Kevin. She is insipid and he makes my skin crawl.

The cha cha challenge was a fix. Oti and Danny were clear winners.

I have to say it's all gone a bit to pot this year. Claudia Winkleman is the best thing about it.
