As part 3 is full.

I'm having a day off due to illness, so am planning a re-watch from the beginning as have got used to the time switches that confused me at first. Quite looking forward to it - will pay extra attention to all things yellow, legs in fireplaces and anything else that you suggest. Probably cover my eyes at the drilla moment again though!

Yes why did Sophie not want to see her dad? Have I missed something about him. Was he not a good guy?

braceybracegirl · 30/11/2016 22:09

It would have been a satisfying ending to have seen Drilla locked in a cell. Taste of his own medicine. I sobbed when Alice was reunited with Gemma.

Riversleep · 30/11/2016 22:09

Millie I think Sophie has Stockholm syndrome. She said ' They were my family' meaning Gettrick, Lucy and maybe Alice.

I think Baptiste thought there were other girls because all the girls were now too old for him Sad.

MadeForThis · 30/11/2016 22:10

Why do we think the brig was faking. I assumed eve took him home because she forgave him

minesapintofwine · 30/11/2016 22:10

Next wednesday at 9pm...Dan Snow documentary of David Lloyd George. Aibu to think thats just not the same?

BeyondTheHarpy · 30/11/2016 22:11

I don't think brig was faking, just that eve was 'remembering the good' and choosing to take him home

They didn't have to bloody kill Sam :( Angry

Elendon · 30/11/2016 22:11

Posted too soon.

Thanks so much for all your wonderful (and sometimes wacky) thoughts.

Chocs and wine were hardly touched. Such a great ending to a fantastic series.

MillieMoodle · 30/11/2016 22:11

Yes absolutely, Butcher walked away from his wife, presumably because she didn't believe him and it was her who handed the camera to the police which had the photos of Sophie on them and which effectively cemented his conviction.

AnnieNoMouse · 30/11/2016 22:11

Well done to all the posters who made correct predictions/spots. The thing about the Swiss francs well spotted!

ImprovingMyMH · 30/11/2016 22:12

Eve said that the brigadier was going with her - she didn't say home though. I like to think that she was taking him to the military base for questioning.

Frazzled2207 · 30/11/2016 22:12

Overall excellent but it's bothering me how did they find the location of the hut so quickly, how did sophie have such a flawless English accent and why did sam have to die!!

Also a bit disappointed that there wasn't more if a backstory reveal with Eve and the brig - he'd said some things in the past to suggest maybe he abused her in the past. But maybe that was just a red herring.

avamiah · 30/11/2016 22:13

I had tears in my eyes at the end.
Totally fabulous,well worth the wait.
Shame about Sam,didn't expect that.
Baptiste will be back .

absolutelynotfabulous · 30/11/2016 22:13

But Sophie and Alice weren't alike, really, were they? They had different colour eyes!

Maybe there's some backstory concerning Sophie and her dad.

So glad for little Lucy. Smile.

MillieMoodle · 30/11/2016 22:13

River, maybe. She just seemed to be so scared of him but I suppose that's how it works Sad

CoshPunt · 30/11/2016 22:13

Considering he shit himself and Sam had to clean him in one of the earlier episodes I think the brig wasn't faking the dementia! Maybe certain things he might remember if he was lucid he'd pretend, but ultimately, I think he had dementia.

Great ending though, such an improvement over the first series!

OhHolyFuck · 30/11/2016 22:13

Who was the guy baptise kept seeing/imagining?

Lurleene · 30/11/2016 22:14

Bad things happen in threes too - three men died (Jorn, Henry and Sam) to save the three girls ( Sophie, Alice and Lucy).

MrsderPunkt · 30/11/2016 22:14

Annnnd breathe! Am a bit cross at Sam dying, but was more cross at dh pointing out that Drilla wouldn't have shot a hare in the forest in the first few minutes, almost sent him to his room, but he soon realised that no speaking was allowed until the (very satisfying) end.

After which I told him about these threads, he said we were all taking it far too seriously. Should I LTB?

Wow! I'm exhausted and relieved to get answers. At least I understood it all as I thought I wouldn't BUT where are you all getting that Stone didn't have dementia? Was it the twist in the sentence when he said 'I'm sorry' but then went on to say he didn't know where he was? I'm not sure as dementia does make you lose your thread. But not much other explanation for daughter taking him home rather than care home? I'd have left him to the care home and not visited though?!

Frazzled2207 · 30/11/2016 22:15

And how exactly did Getterick plant Lena's body in the shed. Must have somehow colluded with Sophie?

Fiderer · 30/11/2016 22:15

So it was Gettrick blackmailing the Brig and Reed. I always wondered how, as he was the one caught with a 13 yr old but of course, deny it as they all may well have done, the damage would have been done if it were known. Which Gettrick played on.

Sad that Sam died, did he say "I was wrong"? Would have liked to have seen a bit more Alice.

Sophie still entranced by Gettrick? What she was saying to Baptiste at the drop sounded v much so.

EsmesBees · 30/11/2016 22:15

I'm surprised we didn't get more information about how Drilla picked his victims. You'd think abducting the daughter of a soldier in the same base would be pretty high risk. And the same with Lena being a friend's daughter.

Optimist1 · 30/11/2016 22:15

Excellent ending. I loved the anaesthetic scene - bodes well for the lovely Baptiste's recovery.

It was interesting that Mr Butcher blanked his wife when he was released from prison. I felt a bit sorry for her -itt was the circumstantial evidence that wrongly convinced her he was guilty.

CoshPunt · 30/11/2016 22:16

Frazzled He said that he put the body in the shed and let Sophie out.

absolutelynotfabulous · 30/11/2016 22:16

Yes, mrs-LTB. Get your ducks in a row.
