Evening all.

What dreadful weather we've had today. I nearly got blown away at lunchtime when I had to go out and it was dreadful driving home tonight. Torrential rain and bits of branches all over the place, as well as flooding in places. I've been fairly lucky where I live but there has been flooding around the east of the county more.

Yorks I've been on with some more boring sewing jobs tonight and as there was nothing on television worth watching, I've gone over episodes 2, 3 and 4 of OG2. I did skip over the gory bits where Georgie was abducted in episode 2 though. Still laugh at "The Boys are Back in Town" when SF arrive by helicopter and also Elvis' twirly finger as he summons the team.

Richtea19 · 22/11/2016 12:16

Totally agree about the Sunday night program, very boring- and really Eels! I still can't get into the thurs bbc2 one, can't even remember what's it's called! I saw an advert for the Rivington Place drama coming soon, that looks good. I'm sure my DH said his dad knew him!!!! Need to find out more!

Very windy today, no rain at the moment but then we had enough on Sunday.

I'm planning my vista print desk calendar for work, last year mainly BA but this year it's going to include LP and a few of our other "wrestling" hotties!

Ilovelblue · 22/11/2016 23:23

Unbelievably quiet on here today??

Rich who else is on your calendar besides BA and LP? I have LP on my phone screensaver at the moment.

Rhubarb01 · 23/11/2016 15:09

Afternoon everyone. I've been missing for a day or two and it's gone very, very quiet on here. I haven't much to report, well nothing at all to be honest, just thought I'd say hello. After lamenting the story about eels at the weekend (when I was small I had a little incident with one when I stood on it and incurred the wrath of a fisherman and I really hate them now) at least there is 'The Missing' to watch tonight - hooray!

I've seen that trailer for Rillington Place but I won't be watching. It's one of those real life stories that really creeps me out. There was a film with Richard Attenborough in the role which I've seen and I think it's also because it's one of those tales my parents always brought up whenever the death penalty was being debated - that and the 'Let him have it' Derek Bentley case. Grim but no doubt it will be well done.

Nickel45 · 23/11/2016 19:27

Hello. I've been awol too, completely snowed under with school stuff for the kids... How can they have so much going on?!!! Still here though x mostly!

Richtea19 · 23/11/2016 19:57

ilove my calendar is full of festive treats (for me!!) I have Tom Hardy, Michael Fassbender, BA, LP, Jamie Dornan amongst other hotties!!!

rhu after I read your post I thought I better ask DH a bit more about Rillington Place.!!
DHs dad best friend in the 70s/80s was Christies son. He had totally disowned him and had changed his name. Only a few people knew he was related. He ran a pub in Lewisham South London. DH can remember going to the pub with his dad and above the door it said "no Gypsies" ... terrible! Can you imagine that now!

I will watch it as I had never heard of the story and I'm intrigued.

nickel is it Christmas bazaars, plays etc at school? They should be winding down!! My two have loads of school trips which involve me dropping off and picking up from various places! The worst will be when my eldest goes to Switzerland for a school trip and I have to drop him at school for 4.30am!! Ahhh. The blessing is he is away for 4 days and it's always easier with one child!!

Rhubarb01 · 23/11/2016 20:48

Oh my goodness Rich that is definitely a connection you would not own up to. I can't blame him for that at least even if the racist comments over the door of his pub would land you in trouble these days. There was an article in the RT about the drama and an interview with Tim Roth which I read. I'm sure it will be a compelling drama but by the sounds of it I still don't want to watch it.

I'm glad that school Christmas events no longer take up lots of time although it's a tiny bit sad too. I didn't like all the costume making, present buying and angst over what to get teachers etc and multiple shows I had to attend. When my two were in Year 6 I had to attend two separate performances of the same show, two evenings running because they were each in a different one. It was an interesting comparison although the jokes didn't work the second time around!

The RT is also listing some of the shows for Christmas but I'm not exactly blown away. There's a drama about the Bronte sisters written by Sally Wainwright who's always very good so that might be worth watching and a new Agatha Christie adaptation plus another Sherlock on New Year's Day - let's hope it makes a bit more sense than the last one, which frankly didn't.

Not long to 'The Missing'!

Ilovelblue · 23/11/2016 22:41

Evening.

Been with my friend for part of this evening - they had the confirmation last night that her father's cancer is in his lymph nodes and bones. I think they'd either been given false hope or they hadn't understood the situation properly so they are devastated.

Came back to see if anyone was on here and found this which did make me laugh after the tense evening so far:

Oof, that's hard need to digest Ilove. We're waiting to hear back from oncologist about how effective MIL's latest round of chemo has been. As everything gets filtered through MIL who flip flops between untold catastrophe and denial getting an accurate prognosis is pretty much impossible. We do know if the chemo hasn't been successful then she won't be given more.

KeziaOAP · 24/11/2016 13:26

Fingers crossed news is good for MIL pixie.

KeziaOAP · 24/11/2016 13:57

Fingers crossed news is good for MIL pixie.

Ilovelblue · 24/11/2016 17:53

pixie I thhink my friend's father's situation isn't too dissimilar to your MIL's in that it has always been drama/catastrophes and it wasn't easy to sift through it all. Still awful though and her mother isn't coping either.

I thought of you earlier as I was getting petrol and the man next to me was a dead ringer for Spanner from SF. He probably wondered why I smirked!

moojangles · 24/11/2016 17:58

Fingers crossed it's good news pix.

Sorry to hear that so much bad news around for everyone

MaddieMoo82 · 24/11/2016 18:29

ilove sorry about your friends news. Just awful anytime of great but always feel worse at Christmas I think.
pix hope MIL gets positive news also.
No childcare today today so MrMads stayed at home. Went to the pub as soon as I got in the door but then realised I couldn't really complain as he's done all the ironing and washed the floors Shock

icemistOBE · 24/11/2016 22:08

Evening

Busy few days.

If you want to loan him out Maddie, I have floors he can wash and ironing he can do too. I'll trade you a couple of hours gardening as a swap?

kuiakaituhi · 25/11/2016 16:01

Hi all, from the Shaky Isles. It seems the whales have come back in shore near Kaikoura, so we might be on the mend
Currently a cricket test here in my home town, Hamilton. I noticed that the Pakistani opposition must be getting desperate, especially as we beat then last week - a total fluke?? Anyhow, their star bowler is SOHAIL! Wonder if they stole him from Afghan?

icemistOBE · 25/11/2016 18:12

Radio Times are doing a fandom Christmas thing again. OG in final 13 for it. Should be both FB and twitter stuff to do. Will keep you all posted - be a bit of fun

Had a lazy day. Was too cold to go to Bury and I probably saved money by not getting sucked into the Black Friday malarkey

MaddieMoo82 · 25/11/2016 18:22

Haha ilove it's only the second time in 7 years he has touched the iron so might a while before he's useful again Wink

Very thankful it's Friday hope everyone's ok Smile

Nickel45 · 25/11/2016 21:55

Only a month till Christmas. Eek!
rich, ours school is now ramping up! School plays, Christmas fair, parties, eldest has a school trip, cub parties, church plays and parties, birthday parties .... How much more can they cram in! Still, kids are getting tired, so will hopefully go to sleep earlier so I can do some Christmas shopping ... online! How do people find time to leisurely browse round the shops?
Hope you all have a good weekend. We have our first play this weekend that eldest is in, as well as a Christmas fair and a birthday party for littlie to go to .... :)

Ilovelblue · 25/11/2016 22:28

Evening.

Nothing much to report really, just checking in.

Been inundated with Black Friday emails - am I alone in thinking this is another dreadful American import? I'm probably just a grumpy old woman.

My next door neighbour (who is a cleaning fanatic) has been washing her paths today. They have very shiny, slippery flags at the best of times. It was quite frosty here overnight and is already freezing again tonight. I bet her super-clean flags will be super-treacherous tomorrow morning.

user1471547055 · 26/11/2016 08:29

YorksOAP
Good morning. Very quiet week on here we must all be very busy. There doesn't seem to be any news about our favourite Captain either although I do rely on the experts on here to update. I'm sorry to hear of all the sad news of illnesses thinking of you and your friends. On a more cheerful note glad to see OG has got into the RT finals here's hoping! Have a good weekend all a quiet one here in a VERY frosty Yorkshire

Ilovelblue · 26/11/2016 09:14

Very frosty here too Yorks. I had planned to take one of the cats to the vet for his annual vaccination but not sure whether to leave it till next week as they have the doors open most of the time because of the big dogs that come in (or rather end up waiting outside) and it's permanently cold.

Are we up for Strictly tonight?

Richtea19 · 26/11/2016 09:43

I was in London all day yesterday, not shopping but meeting a friend for lunch. It was manic! And whilst I was there I received 46 emails on my phone all to do with Black Friday deals! And today it's cyber Saturday!!!
Did do some online shopping and got some discounts, mainly clothes for the boys for Christmas.

Lovely cold, misty but sunny morning here.

MaddieMoo82 · 26/11/2016 09:57

Morning! Had a similar number of emails rich!! Shock crazy. Must admit to dabbling a bit and getting a few toys for ds that were on offer. No idea where they are going to fit though!!!
Bracing myself for lunch with MrMads family today, they have picked a rather child unfriendly place to eat and ds is in a particularly crazy, destructive mood so it's going to be interesting!
Have a good day all Smile
