Well yes indeed ilove maybe it is the year for the winner to be ever after known as Ed Glitter 'Balls'.

pixieg1rl · 19/11/2016 20:44

I think Ed gets a lot of the popular vote. The judges keep in under making him and over marking others so he's got a lot of ground to make up with the vote.

Rhu to go back to your quandary over what to wear for your company do - I'm presuming it's an evening event? I would definitely go for a dress if it were me. If you fancied something different to what you already have, would you consider looking in a charity shop? I'm a big fan of charity shops - got a lovely Boden tunic in my local one this afternoon for £3.50!

pixieg1rl · 20/11/2016 09:48

There's just been a segment on Broadcasting House on R4 talking to women who used to fly in WW2, which made me think of Rhu. A wonderful 99 year old talking about flying a Lancaster solo and the ground crew not believing her.

ourmutualfriend · 20/11/2016 12:14

Hi all,
just delurking to ask Rhubarb about your post from Thursday, re CJ and Molly. Have you watched the one that goes to Coldplay's Yellow?
That's my current favourite!

Yup, amazing characters, brought to life by excellent actors with magical chemistry...sigh

MaddieMoo82 · 20/11/2016 12:25

Afternoon all. Hope your all surviving the rubbish weather. It's lovely here today but had a awful evening/night. Loads of flooding and trees down locally.
Ds snoozing after being awake since 5am on my first day off this week so have been getting some crafty bits done for Christmas before we go a stroll and pint. Have a lovely afternoon.

pixieg1rl · 20/11/2016 16:02

rhu this is the one friend was referring to

Slow day here, most thrilling part of which was getting our blocked drain rodded.

moojangles · 20/11/2016 16:05

Equally thrilling here today. Dodged the iffy weather but do hope everyone else is okay. Mooching about with the dog and still in my pjs!

Hello everyone. Indeed terrible weather although just where we are it seems to have been quite kind to us. Which was very lucky as DD was here for the weekend and we had a70th birthday party on Friday so we are now relaxing after taking DD to station. All quiet again now I hope any of you down on the south coast are ok I see from the news Devon has been badly affected but I doubt a certain Captain will be there he seems to have been all over the place last week. Hope you have a good evening everyone

Thanks for the utube clip pixie I do love all the bits on it

KeziaOAP · 20/11/2016 17:58

Another dreary day here, feel for those affected by the terrible weather.

Thanks for the link pix hadn't seen that one before. Set up new PC speakers today...... good excuse to play YouTube clips of CJ/MD to test them out, not that I need much persuading Grin

ourmutualfriend · 20/11/2016 18:58

Thanks for posting the link pixie, to a few minutes of unadulterated bliss.

Ilovelblue · 20/11/2016 22:11

Evening everyone.

Hope all those who had storms last night are safe and warm. For once, we were quite lucky in the North West and it was just very wet overnight.

Lovely YouTube link pixie - I've not seen that one before - and thanks to friend for mentioning it earlier in the post.

I had a not very exciting day. I promised to go with a friend to John Lewis. It's about a 45 minute drive away but a confusing route once you get off the motorway. I knew I was better to drive as she's useless with directions, even when you say "turn left here" or "get in the right hand lane" but there were loads of roadworks and she never shut up wittering so I ended up taking the wrong turning myself which annoyed me. In the end, I had to tell her to shut up for 5 mins whilst I got us back on the right road! John Lewis was heaving: I got soooooooooooo fed up after about 15 mins! I know there was some lovely stuff but fortunately I wasn't looking for any Christmas presents so came away with two boxes of tights! Last of the big spenders. We did have a nice lunch though a few miles down the road.

Rhubarb01 · 21/11/2016 00:28

Evening - well let's be honest it's morning. A very late log in tonight. I've had family here all day so I was tied up with food, entertaining and chat. Thanks for the idea about charity shops ilove. I actually did have a scout around a local one the other week and saw something that made me stop and ponder for a moment. I may give that another go.

I will track down that radio clip pix. I recalled hearing a story once before about a female ATA pilot who no one believed was flying the plane - I think that might have slipped into one of my stories and I think it came from a documentary about the ATA ladies. I also read the biography of Diana Barnato Walker earlier this year which was fascinating - they certainly had to deal with a lot of dodgy situations and less than ideal aircraft some barely airworthy and being ferried to the scrap heap, certainly brave pioneering women.

friend as a matter of fact I had seen the 'Yellow' you tube clip but thanks for putting it on here pix. I will be wallowing again a few more times this week for sure. It just reminds me of how much I loved series 1.

As for SCD - that is the last time I waste my money on voting after poor Greg got the chop. I'm going to confess here that I also voted for Claudia as I thought she might need some help and look what a great difference my voting made to the pair of them. I am definitely a jinx so I won't vote again - democracy...pah!

Finally, I watched episode 2 of 'My mother and other strangers' tonight. Oh my goodness was that boring or what? I'm really beginning to wonder if it's ever going to warm up. When I first read about it being in production they said it was going to be a pre-watershed drama but I thought that must have been a mistake as it's going out at 9pm. However, I'm now wondering if this is another Musketeers situation where the story/projected audience and the broadcast time just don't marry up. Oh goodness me, I really don't want to know about eel fishing!

Ok, time to go. Work tomorrow so I'll say goodnight all.

ourmutualfriend · 21/11/2016 00:59

I expected you would probably all have seen it, reading Rhubarb's post from last Thursday, 'couldn't resist passing an enthusiastic comment with others who would 'get it'.

Ooops sorry, yes, it's bedtime!!

TRish47 · 21/11/2016 01:21

Good afternoon from a very warm NZ! I am thinking of you all with your wet and awful weather! Just loved the latest update RHU*Just what was needed after planting out courgette plants in this heat. Grin
I am only just catching on on S2 of Poldark as TVNZ are rather slow.
Must admit I am rather partial to Aidan Turner! Not quite as good as BA but certainly up there. Blush
Thank you Pix for the YouTube link . Love a bit of Coldplay oh and Molly and CJ of course.
No doubt you are all sleeping now so sleep 😴 tight xxx

Ilovelblue · 21/11/2016 08:17

Morning.

Fab Monday morning treat Rhu. Thank you.

Glad I wasn't the only one to find 'My Mother and Other Strangers' boring. Suffice to say, I fell asleep. Doubt I missed much.

pixieg1rl · 21/11/2016 09:05

I'm going to give my mother and other strangers another week or so, I'm hoping it's taking its time over setting the scene before moving the story along a bit. I still struggle to think of the American captain as anyone other than Ken Cosgrove from Mad Men.

icemistOBE · 21/11/2016 16:42

I've yet to watch it, but have recorded pixie am waiting for something to grab me like OG did and it's just not happening

OP posts:
Ilovelblue · 21/11/2016 17:25

I reckon our standards are too high now ice, don't you? If OG is the benchmark, there's just been nothing to touch it since.

kazzaD66 · 21/11/2016 17:46

I've got the first 2 eps of both that and Close to the Enemy recorded and have yet to see any of them back. Still getting mixed reviews for both and that, coupled with a lack of time, may mean that they stay unseen.
Made my Christmas cake yesterday. Now need to knuckle down and make the Christmas puds Hmm

icemistOBE · 21/11/2016 18:49

I think so ilove Struggle to get into any tv dramas these days. Did enjoy Victoria but nothing like OG. That was such a magical time

Good evening. How I agree about the two new programmes I have watched both but still not 'hooked'. In fact tonight as hubby was out I watched the last episode of OG2 and really enjoyed it was surprised at how much I'd missed before. So much more relaxing when you know who makes it to the end! Goodnight everyone
