YorksOAP
Hope everything goes well with your packing etc Ice and you have a pleasant time with your mum I'm sure you will be really glad to see each other.

All slowly getting organised here in Yorkshire looking forward to the weekend when we can all relax and enjoy the 'holiday' what we haven't got or done by then TOO BAD it is only two days after all.
Best wishes to everyone 🎄🎄🎄🦌🦌🦌

Ilovelblue · 20/12/2016 07:35

Your Mum will be pleased to see you ice. How long are you there?

Yorks my Mum always used to say "it's only one day!" and these days even the big supermarkets are open again on Boxing Day. In fact I noticed a Spar on the way to work is open on Christmas Day.

icemistOBE · 20/12/2016 09:51

We are there for a week. Shops still close Boxing Day there.
I don't know how people eat everything they buy though. It's madness

Ilovelblue · 20/12/2016 17:22

I certainly agree with you there ice. You stand in the supermarket and think there must be a massive party going on in your home town and you are the only person not invited to it. Either people seriously over-eat or there is a lot of wastage, probably both?

KeziaOAP · 20/12/2016 17:48

Standing in supermarket queue last week trolley in front mainly consisted of booze and loo rolls Shock

Rhubarb01 · 20/12/2016 18:51

I reckon it's a bit of all of the above ilove, Kezia and ice. I think a lot of people are entertaining much larger family groups than normal over the next two or three days and/or hoping not to have go out shopping again for about a week and intending to have a jolly good gorge during that time. As for me, I'm only feeding my own at home on Christmas day but I have 12 for lunch on the 27th and as many as 16 for tea. However, as I haven't got loads of storage for tons of food I am going to buy what I need on either Boxing day or early on the 27th and just prepare it although lunch will be a hot buffet and I'll probably make use of the slow cooker.

ice I hope all goes well and you have the Christmas that you are hoping for.

icemistOBE · 21/12/2016 16:10

We are on our way, will try and pop on over next few days.

Do I need to invest, is there lusting potential?
Hope things are settling down now mooj and you are relaxing a bit.
Totally manic week as expected whilst trying to get everything done and survive work. Not going to bed before midnight and ds waking at 5am... think I'll be asleep in my Christmas dinner at this rate.

Nickel45 · 21/12/2016 21:02

I like it mads (could you tell?!), I reckon it's worth a watch, see what you think? You could always watch when ds gets you up in the night ... It doesn't take much concentration! I hope he is sleeping better soon, I remember those days well (too well!). mooj have you finished work now? Hope you are getting to put your feet up a bit?

moojangles · 21/12/2016 21:16

Yep, finished last Fri! Sorry to those of you still working & who will work through Christmas. Been coughing my way through a series of infections and am anaemic too it seems, so very much in need of r n r!
I love bs42, got all 3 series on itunes-give it a go mads, it is much quoted chez mooj. Hope you get some down time too

moojangles · 21/12/2016 21:28

That sounded really self-pitying, wasn't meant to!
BS42 def worth a go. Am currently watching The Big Life Fix on BBC2 - all I can say is wow

Ilovelblue · 21/12/2016 22:42

Evening all.

mooj hope you're feeling better soon. It's a b*gger to be laid low once you are on holiday! Hope you get chance to put your feet up.

Maddie you must give BS42 a go - it was Nickel who introduced me to it!

Went with one of my colleagues to take the £1,800 cheques in to the children's hospice we support. The appeals manager has kept asking if we would like a tour round and I've always managed to dodge it because I knew I would cry and I have seen a DVD/virtual tour type thing and cried at that. Anyway, for some reason unknown to myself, I said yes today. My colleague had said yesterday things like that didn't worry him so if I wanted to go, he was fine with it but was easy either way. I could feel myself welling up once and had to focus desperately hard on something else on another occasion when we saw a very, very sick baby with cancer. When we came away, I realised I was glad I'd gone (and very glad I wasn't on my own). Even though we've been raising money for them for years, there were things I discovered today I'd never known before and to be honest, had never even given a thought to.

pixieg1rl · 21/12/2016 23:22

Oh mads you really need to watch BS42.

I'll join the crap time at work crew if I may. I hope everyone gets some rest over the next few weeks.

Nickel45 · 22/12/2016 00:33

Let us know what you think mads :)

I finished work today, full on busy madness, but have the kids for the rest of the week. Love them to bits, but .... I'm looking forward to two peaceful days when I am in the office next week!

Must go to sleep, but planet earth is on, and some bird is jumping really high ... Didn't even know birds could jump! Also realised I need another present for DS to even up the numbers (looking forward to when it's aboutmquality rather than quantity!) no idea what, so going to idly search Amazon for ideas.

Ilovelblue · 22/12/2016 07:41

You were late last night Nickel. Did Amazon inspire you?

Richtea19 · 22/12/2016 15:00

I can't believe I still haven't watch BS42, with a MN recommendation I should of done!!!

Supermarket this morning, ahhhh horrid, it was so busy, all sorted now though other than the turkey bird on Christmas Eve.

One more day left at work, yippee!

pixieg1rl · 22/12/2016 15:20

Urgh Richtea I have one final shop to do. I could go now but I can't be arsed and might not be able to pick DS up from childcare. Otherwise it's a 7am on Saturday job.

Waiting to hear from MIL about Xmas. We are supposed to be going there but MrP and DS both have colds and she's in chemo and is paranoid about germs at the best of times. If we can't go to her I'm going to have to provide Xmas dinner at 48 hours notice.

Richtea19 · 22/12/2016 15:46

pix what a nightmare, will you have everything on standby in case you don't go?

We were just having MIL with us but now have my friend and her 7ur old daughter. Her sister decided that they wanted a Christmas on their own and then proceeded to invite their mum and dad and not her! I can't stand the thought of them on their own. Now I will have an my friend to chat to and help with all the MIL dramas!!! I'm also quite excited about having her daughter. My two boys slope off after lunch so it will be good to plays some games!

I've bought so much booze, I've just found out I like amaretto!

pixieg1rl · 22/12/2016 15:53

I haven't worked out what I would do for dinner in the event of not going to MIL - probably just a roast chicken or a bit of beef. Before we were going to MIL we were planning on ilove's Nigella ham because we all loved that, but its a bit more faff than I can face at short notice.

Our booze cupboard is groaning and completely full. I bought myself a treat of a bottle of Islay gin that jen recommended to me last year. I've yet to open the bottle. One more day of work to go for me...
