Trailer of lots of people with angst and not Phil Collins here. There's another trailer on the Homeland FB page but I can't find a non-FB page to link to. 15th January in US so I reckon 22nd for us - it's usually a week later.

So - Salieri/Dar Adul features prominently and Carrie has some issues with him. Someone's having a torch shone on their pupils - does that mean Quinn's alive but non-responsive? Baby Brodie is now school-aged. Could I be more excited?

Yes Iranian man that Saul met with definitely the ultra baddie that Saul forced to work with him way back. Reinforced by the fact that the Israeli bloke who then picked up Saul said they had intel that a senior red army Iranian had crossed the border.

I'm actually not really getting into this series. Not sure what the main "plot" is at all.

I also wondered if Carrie left Frannie with Quinn!

OneWithTheForce · 12/02/2017 22:41

Spy Man def watching carrie too. He was in her house and watching her before Carlton was even released. So Carrie Is at risk too.

HalleLouja · 12/02/2017 22:47

So has Salieri set up Carlton? Is what he was threatening Carrie with?

Carrie needs a new babysitter. Not sure I'd trust Quinny. I did laugh when Carrie said "You were in the apartment?". Am not sure the photos were of Carlton's family but would make sense if they were trying to set him up. Shame they didn't really super CIA agent Quinn has super senses.

OneWithTheForce · 12/02/2017 22:51

I'm not even sure dar is aware/interested in Carlton. Is he? I think he meant Carrie is vulnerable via frannie. He made a reference to frannie's hair colour- I was wondering if he knows brodie is her father and can use that to control Carrie. Brodie officially died as a terrorist didn't he?

FoolandFitz · 12/02/2017 22:52

Isn't UltraBaddie (Majid?) the guy who was ultimately responsible for the Langley bombing where pretty much everyone died and Brodie had shipped out by Carrie to the Canadian border because the finger would have pointed to him?

HalleLouja · 12/02/2017 22:53

He would know Carrie worked on Carlton's case. I missed the bit about the hair colour.

FoolandFitz · 12/02/2017 22:58

I liked the "striking hair colour" comment - creepy as hell but made me smile too.

I was surprised the guy across the street did not know who Quinn was, which makes me think that he is not from the CIA and what kind of spy would not know that Carrie has a tenant in the basement? If I was a spy I would break in from the basement, away from street level.

northender · 12/02/2017 22:59

Not feeling it yet this series. Faces seem familiar but can't remember from which series or whether good or bad. Will keep going with it though.

FoolandFitz · 12/02/2017 23:01

And I'm still confused about the cigarettes. Did it just jog his memory because Ultra Baddie used to/still does smoke the same brand?

Parkourbench · 12/02/2017 23:07

Carrie has the best childcare ever.

Slow to warm to this series but glad Quinn is alive and well.

I feel so ignorant of the Israel situation without the multi layered spy counter spy issue.

I heart Saul.

Parkourbench · 12/02/2017 23:09

Foolandfitz. I took the cigarettes to mean that baddie did nor take leave and escape quickly when freed but stayed back to chat with his friends.

UnGoogleable · 12/02/2017 23:47

Carlton! Yes! That's who Seku is the spitting image of.

Or was. RIP.

UnGoogleable · 12/02/2017 23:48

Did anyone else notice that Quinn has had a shower? Definitely had clean hair. Thank god.

TheSpottedZebra · 12/02/2017 23:51

Yy it was Majid. But they mostly called him Javadi back in the day. He is a bad baddie indeed, and was behind the Langley bomb.

Then the Israeli guy is etai (?), who was rhe ambassador to Germany last series, Saul's old friend, with who busted him away from Dar Adal in the old 'hotel laundry' schizzle.

I really thought that Carrie would end up shagging Sekou. So, guess I'm wrong there...

The guy across the street - could he be something to do with Sekou 's father? Hence the pic of him and his mum ? Remember he had been deported years before?

Or the FBI are just ruining Sekou's name to punish him for out outing their informant and make sure that the informant network can still run?

TheSpottedZebra · 12/02/2017 23:53

And when did Franny get so big and wise? “A man came to school, he had painted hair and he scared Mommy.”

PAINTED HAIR.

OneWithTheForce · 13/02/2017 00:02

Did anyone else notice that Quinn has had a shower? Definitely had clean hair. Thank god.

Yup unnoticed. Swooshy hair it was and all. He's been on the style and beauty boards.

Or the FBI are just ruining Sekou's name to punish him for out outing their informant and make sure that the informant network can still run?

No they don't worry about ruining dead people's names or punishing them. This will be a strategic move to improve their position with the PE. They'll use this to prove Carrie was wrong, they/dar was right, discredit Carrie or worse, set her up as a conspirator. PE will sack her as advisor. She'll be announced as a traitor to the nation and have to go into hiding.

OneWithTheForce · 13/02/2017 00:03

And painted hair just cracked me up! Grin

TheSpottedZebra · 13/02/2017 00:11

Talking of hair, when Carrie got up in the night, her hair was all voluminous and perfect. It wouldn't be, as she has quite fine hair.

Continuity fail, Homeland. They are normally so good at hair too. His their hair person changed, I wonder?

Timetogetup0630 · 13/02/2017 00:14

God we are all so over infested (still Mumsnetting way past midnight).

FoolandFitz · 13/02/2017 07:49

I took the cigarettes to mean that baddie did nor take leave and escape quickly when freed but stayed back to chat with his friends.

Friends? But the room was full of Israeli/US spies, wasn't it?

Yy it was Majid. But they mostly called him Javadi back in the day. That's right. I recognised and remembered him but couldn't recall his name as Majid because they called him Javadi all the time.

Fiderer · 13/02/2017 07:57

Blimey I'm all confused. I thought UK was a week behind so I couldn't post yet. Yet you've all seen it. Don't know if I'm coming or going.

Darth Adal was v creepy with the "vulnerable" & the "striking hair" comments. Golly he's wonderfully evil.

Like the Franny & Quinn exchanges. "Snack time" is v MN St Saul. She intrinsically knows that he's St Saul of Snacks.

Why haven't the PE & Carrie figured out they're being bugged by Darth & why don't they ever meet outside? Spying 101

ihatethecold · 13/02/2017 07:59

I'm finding the storyline and the popping up of old faces confusing.
I wish they would briefly remind us who some of them are like when the Jewish man appeared they could quickly cut out and say
"season ? This character whisked Saul out of the hotel via the laundry bin."
Maybe I need to add audio description Grin

Ciutadella · 13/02/2017 10:17

Carrie I implore you not to sell Dar out - you cannot believe the PE's assurances that you will never go to prison. She won't be President for ever.

Why is Carrie carrying Frannie - she is 3-4 yrs old isn't she? I suppose Carrie wanted to make a quick getaway. I hadn't picked up the striking hair comment - so Dar is threatening to expose that Frannie's Damian Lewis' daughter? You are all clever....

HalleLouja · 13/02/2017 10:29

This might help Homeland blog.

Ciutadella · 13/02/2017 10:47

What was the significance of the indentations in the carpet where the stool was standing in the 'spy apartment'?
