I've seen an advert that says it returns in November, anyone know what date?

Really looking forward to its return! Anyone else?

Yes Dozer why isn't he still RAGING over that lie? And I would've loved to see him find out after him thinking he'd never be a Dad again.

Great episode. But whose version is true?

Cole.

Sat at a respectable distance during contact. Was concerned at her over protectiveness on the bars. Let her bring the cake. Let her be the one comforting Joanie. Talked about overnight contact with her, but said not t get her hopes up

Alison.

Cole was colluding with the social worker against her. No problem on the bars. Luisa comforts Joanie, returns cake. They have sex.

Who's telling the truth?

Argh,

That's what I love about this show

Series is improving after tonight's episode, Cole & Alison clicking together again. Starting to get into it again. Finally!

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/12/2016 08:34

Wonder if alison will get preg again by Cole

That's if she actually had sex with him

Why isn't she with Noah anymore? They were together /married then I assume as child wasn't his they split up (brain hazy due to baby brain) 😉

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 13/12/2016 08:42

I thought that too about pregnancy!

Loved how the two version were so different even down to the different dress she wore to the party.

Isn't there a possibility that Joanie isn't Cole's but actually his brothers? I can't quite remember the exact details, but I thought they had left that open as a possibility. If so, Cole wouldn't be so angry about those first couple of years, maybe just happy to have a chance to bring up his brother's child?

Although I'm not sure where the rest of the family have got to - I'm sure there were loads of them.

Dozer · 13/12/2016 10:14

No, alison never shagged scottie.

DiegeticMuch · 13/12/2016 10:15

I'm missing the extended families. I was interested in Helen's parents, Alison's mother and Cole's mother. Still, the writers can only squeeze so much in.

Re: different perspectives. I recall a sharp-eyed viewer noting that Cole's brother was left-handed in one flashback in S1 but right-handed in the other. Amazing detail. I'm sure I've missed loads of those.

Dozer · 13/12/2016 10:16

Cole - or luisa - would surely have insisted on a paternity test.

Noah knows, but Cole doesn't, about Alison being involved in Scottie's death.

Dozer · 13/12/2016 10:18

In this episode cole's recollection seems the less reliable: him swearing loyalty to luisa in the scene in the kitchen, and "only" kissing (and dreaming about) Alison rather than having sex could be from guilt about having cheated on Luisa.

So cole has no alibi for the eve of noah's attempted murder, just Luisa's fake one.

MrsJW15 · 13/12/2016 11:14

I've just done some googling (obviously working hard today!) and apparently Oscar overheard Scotty saying to Alison 'that's our baby'. The implication was that it was a Lockhart baby but I think it's left open that it could be Scottys as well. And the paternity test just shows that it's a Lockhart.

But maybe I'm over-thinking this one!!

IhatchedaSnorlax · 13/12/2016 11:26

It definitely wasn't Scotties as there were scenes where he was threatening to tell Cole about Joanie & Alison was getting worried.

EachandEveryone · 13/12/2016 14:21

So why are they all such good friends with that awful bloke with the baby now?

MrsJW15 · 13/12/2016 16:33

Ha, Snorlax, I'll drop that theory then!

Each - I wondered that. I'm sure they'd all fallen out last time around!

TheNorthRemembers · 13/12/2016 18:12

If the showrunner's comments from last year still stand, neither Alison nor Cole lied. We have just seen versions of what was important to them in that situation.
Cole thought Alison was beautiful and fragile throughout and for a good reason. "We lost our child." He felt that she needed him.
Alison seemed to see it all as one big exam, being judged by everyone. She was petrified all the time, was dressed frumpy, while Luisa appeared professional and successful.
Interestingly both Alison and Cole thought that they wanted the other one more. Alison is the mistress again.
I agree that Luisa seemed like a bitch sometimes, but objectively you can tell how good she is for Cole and the baby.

So where was Cole when Noah was injured?
As you all said, will Joanie have a little sibling?
Oh, Noah. I did not miss you, but of course it is your show. I bet in his recollection Alison will be cycling in some really sexy revealing clothes. He will make Alison lose any chance of custody. Ever.
Why would Alison have to work to have custody? She said she had money.
What is in those letters?
I am not sure Noah was raped. I even wonder if Brendan Fraser is still alive. Noah may have been hallucinating, he had so many horse tranquilisers for "his shoulders". The guard was obviously a shit, but it is possible that Noah's trauma is not sexual (witnessed a murder, killed someone, been made commit a crime, etc).

Middleoftheroad · 13/12/2016 18:19

So why are they all such good friends with that awful bloke witth the baby now?

He's such a jerk off.

EverySongbirdSays · 13/12/2016 19:28

The bloke (Oscar) is the worst, but what's weirder is that he HATED the Lockharts, LOATHED, and they him.

Suddenly he's getting tea and cake and making dinner plans?

The first 5 mins of next week are on YouTube for those that want it

NickNacks · 13/12/2016 19:29

I've just finished watching this weeks. Much much better!

Plenty of Cole! My god that kiss! Blush

OP posts:
DiegeticMuch · 13/12/2016 19:32

I wonder if the reason for their current tolerance of Oscar will become clear. There has obviously been a rapprochement of sorts in the intervening years. Perhaps it's relevant.

diddl · 13/12/2016 19:32

Alison pisses me off so much. I like Luisa. I think that she's the only one who has the measure of Alison.

NickNacks · 13/12/2016 22:11

If anyone is interested JJ is on Ellen on Monday talking about The Affair. ITV2 at lunchtime.

OP posts:
Powergower · 13/12/2016 22:39

Blimey. Cole is back! That kiss. I wonder if rumours of them having an affair in real life are true. There certainly tons of chemistry. Best episode yet, so true to the original format. If Alison goes back to noah after this there can't be any redemption for her in my eyes. Joanie looks too Latino to be their daughter. Just bloody love Cole. Whereas noah gives me the creeps, the irony of the series for me is that he is the totally fucked up one not Alison.

PannusAngelicus · 14/12/2016 09:20

My guess is that there'll be a custody battle over joanie. She'll insist on a DNA test and it will prove joanie is Scottie's

Dozer · 14/12/2016 09:24

Joannie isn't scottie's!
