Thread one here

So, Sophie Giroux returned pretending to be Alice Webster. DNA results on the body in the shed confirm she is related to Sam.

Baptiste has found out about Henry Reed and the Brigadier being involved with a 9 year old girl in Iraq in 1991. Henry Reed was paying this girls brother.

There are 3 girls in the rollercoaster photo, Sophie, Alice and possibly the girl from Iraq? She has that colouring.

Henry Reed apparently committed suicide although Julien told Daniel he didn't. Whatever Daniel found out about him made him sick.

Nadia has been badly beaten and her husband is still in prison after being identified by Sophie/Alice. Matthew was made to promise to say sorry to the butcher.

Sophie is now in Switzerland. As is the newly spray painted yellow campervan that abducted Alice. Gemma and Baptiste doubt the DNA results as they are still looking for answers 2 years after she returned.

Birds keep being mentioned. Sophie and Alice both had the Web tattoo on their wrists.

Bird makes more sense than a cross. (Caged birds...?)

Suppose it had to be big so we'd spot it on the third girl in the picture.

Ok so not surrogates.

Munstermonchgirl · 07/11/2016 14:03

I'm really hoping the DNA isn't a hook with a lot hanging on it, because it's just been so unrealistically handled.
Necklace I'm pretty sure is a bird- not sure if it's significant other than reflecting the many references to caged birds/ loss of freedom etc

youarenotkiddingme · 07/11/2016 16:10

Could the bit about Baptiste blaming Sophie's father be that she was in fact pregnant and he accused the father of being the father of her baby?

I really don't think it's as complicated as we are making out. Purely based on how the first series ran. Loads and loads of clues and leads and its was very simple - child walks away from parents, knocked over, taken due to panic and died where he was kept. Even the bit about the blood and drawing in the garage wasn't as complicated as the story led us to believe.

I reackon the Iraq stuff will have nothing to do with the abductions. It's only coming out because the army is involved through Alice.

Mairyhinge · 07/11/2016 16:11

Apologies if this has been answered, but..
In 2014 eve is pregnant ( who's the father?) & she has contact with Gemma, obviously.
In present day Gemma asks Eve if she's ever wanted a family, why? Why wouldn't she know Eve had been pregnant 2 years ago? -and even if she did remember she'd been pregnant, it would be a very cruel question as she would also know Eve lost the baby ( assuming that's what happened, we don't know yet?!)
I am majorly confused.
Is the girl in Switzerland alice? Or Sophie? Or the 3rd girl?
I hope all these questions get explained in not too difficult a way!!

MiddleClassProblem · 07/11/2016 17:27

We don't know who the father is or if the baby is her or if she is a surrogate

NickiFury · 07/11/2016 19:30

I'm signing in mainly but I think the butchers wife is involved somewhere in a big way.

hollyisalovelyname · 07/11/2016 19:43

Did Eve have a surrogate baby for her sister?
I still haven't seen the last episode Sad as we can't get BBC player in Ireland SadSadSad

ClassmateHB · 07/11/2016 22:08

Binge watching tonight and even watching three in a row I'm a bit lost.

But does anyone else thing Julian's wife looks like the mum from The Returned? With her French I thought it was but couldn't see an IMDB link last time I looked.

MiddleClassProblem · 08/11/2016 19:05

hollyisalovelyname we still don't know anything for sure, just speculating x

Thank you

Looking at the episode titles for this week and next week.
From what PPs said, tomorrow's title could mean forgotten memories?
Next week's, which I won't repeat here in case it counts as a spoiler - could, as has already been speculated, point to a familial relationship between Sam and the Brig which could point the way to the body in the shed having Brig's dna but not being Alice. But possibly not.

youarenotkiddingme · 08/11/2016 21:16

Discussing this at work today.

A collegue of mine is into it as much as me and kept saying "so X happened and must be because of y"

And I kept pointing out we actually are being led to assume Y and that's why the writers are so clever!

We came to the conclusion we know fuck all and there's no evidence so far and 4 more episodes to get through is torture!

She also bought up that we never actually discovered if Ollie died or not but that the evidence suggested he did? I thought someone confessed to running him over?

youarenotkiddingme · 08/11/2016 21:18

Oh but when I put to het the suggestions re a Brig and Sam etc she did suggest that actually the DNA could be Sams because the body was his and eves baby?

ImprovingMyMH · 08/11/2016 21:26

Genetic testing is cleverer than that though - it can also give information about the degree of relatedness (i.e. father/daughter, grandfather/daughter etc.). So, I'm not sure it could be a false positive because of Sam and the Brigadier being related.

youarenotkiddingme · 08/11/2016 21:40

But the. Body in she'd had Sam DNA. So perhaps brig isn't SAMs father but rather the body was Sam and eves baby.

NotPennysBoat · 08/11/2016 21:43

So you're suggesting that Sam & Eve's affair has been going on for 20ish years??

youarenotkiddingme · 08/11/2016 21:58

No!!!! I'm yet to draw any conclusions! I have a million questions though!

If was just passing on what my collegue suggested - that it's was actually the baby (2yo!)

Seems implausible to me but let's face it - this is the missing Grin

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 08/11/2016 21:58

How can the body be a baby's body?

It looked adult size with adult teeth?
Abd why would Brig be Sam's father?

youarenotkiddingme · 08/11/2016 22:05

I agree. Was just sharing a lighthearted convo I had today with outlandish suggestions!

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 08/11/2016 22:12

No, A lot of posters think Sam and Brug are related, I think someone mentioned why up thread, I missed that.

ceeveebee · 08/11/2016 22:22

I know the wife of one of the brothers who wrote it. And even she doesn't know the ending. Or at least that's what she says!

GrumbleBumble · 08/11/2016 22:31

I did briefly wonder if the body was a child of Alice's so would have some of Sam's DNA but dismissed that idea as even if Alice had a baby shortly after she went missing it would only be 11 so obviously not the body of an adult.

Shropitlikeitshot · 08/11/2016 22:32

Ceevee I know the third brother! I.e. Not one of the two brothers who wrote it, and he's claiming ignorance too!

LizzieMacQueen · 08/11/2016 22:37

The baby was still a bump at the time of the fire.
