For those who loved it last time, will you watch after the let down of the ending? (Well I felt it was a let down, don't think there was a proper conclusion at all and still room for doubts as to whether he was still alive or not).

I loved it though and will definitely be watching the next series. I've seen the trailer and it looks very very good. Julian (think that was his name) is still in it. Looks like it is based on JayCee Dugard/Elizabeth Fritz type cases where they have gone missing as children and reappeared years later.

Cannot wait!

Radio times article asks if we've seen the dog that is barking by the camper van before - have we???

Have we? Oh no, I can't go back and watch all 3 episodes again, my head will explode Confused

PassTheCremeEggs · 27/10/2016 10:45

There was a similar german shepherd barking down the hatch into the bunker when Alice led them to it. But just a police dog - surely not the same one!

PassTheCremeEggs · 27/10/2016 10:49

This dog

The Missing is back next week!
MiddleClassProblem · 27/10/2016 10:51

Lol I don't think it's the same dog

MiddleClassProblem · 27/10/2016 10:52

Unless he's decided to solve the case on his own and it's s spin off show

PassTheCremeEggs · 27/10/2016 10:54

Dog goes off on his own to another country and finds campervan. Barks hopefully that someone in Germany will hear him. "I've found it! I've found it!" Perhaps not... Grin

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 27/10/2016 10:55

no the dog barking had a long coat

Rolocookies · 27/10/2016 10:56

I volunteer to watch the episodes again to find the dog.

MyLlamasGoneBananas · 27/10/2016 10:57

Im never ver good at these typr of programmes. I gave up with the first series but am enjoying this one much more.
There is I reckon a very sinisterlink to Brigadier and older/ex army officers. I reckon the red cap/army police womans' father with is also connected some how to the girls dissapearance. I keep waiting for him to say something in a confused state. I was on tender hooks last night when he held his daugterhand and said he knew a girl with skin like that once and he replied no, when she asked if it was her Mum.
Anyone else have thoughts on this?

I also rckon the mum is far mentally fatigued/depressed that her husbands affair is kind of hurting her but she hasn't got the energy to do anything about it. Its just ye another shit storm for her in an utterly fucked up life/family. I do wonder if she may blow at some point.

MyLlamasGoneBananas · 27/10/2016 10:59

I think (unless Im confusing it with another programme) I have seen the dog bark before. Vaguely sure! Confused

MargotLovedTom · 27/10/2016 11:04

Gemma goes to see Eve about the photo because she needed to talk to somebody about what she'd found and Jorn, the policeman, is away (and obviously Baptiste is uncontactable). Eve worked on the case when Alice was found so has a connection.

I think we're meant to think Alice called her mum Gemma in a slip up, proving that she was actually Sophie. Or could it be thathatbshe just wanted to piss her off; she was angry because she'd overhead her mum expressing doubts about her identity? She'd called her mum up till then. We just don't know Wink.

The80sweregreat · 27/10/2016 11:05

~Gemma is taking things rather well , no hysterical scene at the hotel or the discovery of the hotel pen, very odd behaviour when she first met the girl after 11 years - hardly any interaction with her son , who is clearly off the rails! She is so calm, its almost spooky. The campervan is obviously important. The brig is also very sinister. at least I know now why she is looking at those pictures of the roller coaster.
did anyone else jump out their skin when butcher's wife was confronted by those masks- one of the reasons I;m not keen on Halloween masks.

MiddleClassProblem · 27/10/2016 11:10

I was peeping through my fingers that whole scene. I hate Halloween!

MargotLovedTom · 27/10/2016 11:11

Grin at the dog spin off show. yes myllamas I think we're being lead to think thathat the Brigadier is going to confess something in a confused state. It was very creepy when he was saying that to his daughter - she obviously thought so too judging by his expression.

MargotLovedTom · 27/10/2016 11:12

Her expression, rather.

Ciutadella · 27/10/2016 11:18

The key may be 'what happened in iraq'. Brig is staring at the photo of his squad very intently when baptiste arrives to see him - i suspect that's in iraq. Then daniel has to go to iraq to find out what henry was paying for. Also brig says he knew aldi woman - nadia- in iraq, and obviously didn't like her much.

So everyone, what do we think happened in iraq?

SuburbanRhonda · 27/10/2016 11:24

Sophie Alice said they drank glühwein after the roller coaster ride but I thought it was a cold weather drink, not something you'd drink in the summer. Probably not relevant though.

MiddleClassProblem · 27/10/2016 11:27

Did she say it was summer? Not sure she said when it was. Do they make you take coats off for roller coasters? I'm not experienced in that area much. You do get mild winter days too? I dunno I'm still into the dog detective show.

Alsatian Investigation starring Hans the Wonderbar dog

Manumission · 27/10/2016 11:33

Why does Alice call her mum by her name but calls her Dad Dad

Because she knew that both she and Gemma knew the truth, but that the 'Dad' didn't (?)

It was like an acknowledgement and a flagging up before she delivered her verbal suicide note.

Manumission · 27/10/2016 11:35

I volunteer to watch the episodes again to find the dog

How are you getting on Rolo? Grin

Bolognaise · 27/10/2016 11:38

I think Sophie escaped, the first thing she said was Sophie giroux - I thought that was her giving her name in ep1 but then her captor got to her before she could do anything and forced her to pretend to be Alice while free rather than Sophie, perhaps why she was so good at being Alice - maybe the captor had made her live as Alice while she was away those 11 years (rather than her wanting to be Alice, someone was making her be Alice)

LarkDescending · 27/10/2016 11:39

She definitely said it was summer during the rollercoaster story. I also thought it was odd to have gluhwein in summer.

Yoksha · 27/10/2016 11:40

Hi, Thanks for this thread.

I noticed the dog at the start because that's how my brain thinks. Never mind trapped humans, that dog possibly has been abandoned? This is a long shot, but I'll fire it over the bough! Could the twins be victims of some long standing paedophile ring? And they're extracting some form of justice?

MiddleClassProblem · 27/10/2016 11:40

Lol maybe it's the opposite then and they have chilly summers and you need a warm beverage to get you through

Quandry · 27/10/2016 11:41

All good stuff this - just what I need, as I can never make sense of these sort of programmes and need to discuss them, but DH lost interest in this in Ep 1 !
What do people this about the story the Brig told Alice/Sophie when they were outside alone on the log - about the turtle with a stick in its mouth? Is that just a simple 'keep your mouth shut and you'll be OK' threat?

Also, why did the Dad tell Gemma that they 'couldn't afford' the skin surgery for his burns when he'd been offered it for free? Didn't understand that?
