I suppose it had to be a something personal he couldn't tell GL - boring but the most believable reason

Oh it's far more believable, but less forgivable. I wouldn't personally give someone who did that a second chance. He could have told her if he really loved her they would work through it together. There's no excuse for buggering off with no explanation.

Of course the alternative that he was called away on a mission would be highly implausible - altho my sis's BIL was recalled to Iraq just before he got married, so they had to postpone the wedding. Wasn't the day before though.

namechangedtoday15 · 27/09/2016 09:13

I walk past the town hall twice a day. What I would do to see Captain James running across it Smile

GloriaGaynor · 27/09/2016 09:15

What programme are you watching about the SAS Rhubarb?

I've been watching 'Tour of Duty' that I got from Amazon. (Not SAS but ordinary army in Afghan and Iraq - very interesting).

And I also bought a book called 'Knife Edge' by Richard Villar - a doctor who also trained for the SAS and became an SAS surgeon.

SoEverybodyDance · 27/09/2016 09:59

You know I have been missing the excellent sound track we were lucky enough to get in series one and wishing they'd spent a bit of money on getting good music in this one.

Thinking of that bloody Kooks song GL and Elvis sing... it's lightweight, repetitive and eventually irritating - and it sums up exactly how I feel about Elvis. It will be interesting to see how TG deals with Elvis, clearly he's divided us all on here. He has his ardent admirers and utter haters, which is quite funny, since we're mostly unanimous in our love for all things Capt James...

Ilovelblue · 27/09/2016 10:08

I had been thinking along similar lines Dance and seriously hoping it doesn't cause an irretrievable breakdown on here after the series finishes next week! That would be so sad after all the friendships forged along the way.

pixieg1rl · 27/09/2016 10:14

I think we're all aware that this is a tv programme ilove. Besides we're united in our love of Captain James.

SoEverybodyDance · 27/09/2016 11:08

REALLY pix just a TV program?... Oh God! I thought Captain James was for real...

moojangles · 27/09/2016 11:12

He is real!!!!

Ilovelblue · 27/09/2016 11:15

pix after two years on here, you tell me it's only a TV programme?? .

SoEverybodyDance · 27/09/2016 11:23

I watched the same program Rhubarb last night on the SAS and I agree with you... they were tough guys and social psychopaths was a good description I think. I can't imagine one of them quoting Last of the Mohicans in front of their mates after a mission...

Still I have a cousin who married someone we all suspect was in the SAS who was not like that at all, quite the opposite in fact, gentle, not hyped up on testosterone... He was incredibly vague about his career in the army, just saying he was a territorial who'd spend some time in Brecon. It was when he started talking about human tracking that we all became suspicious!

Ilove I am quite delighted for you and Woofy and whoever else it is on here to lust after Elvis, if it means there's a bit more of CJ for me than his twirly finger.. (admittedly a choice part!)

If you still want a bit of CJ as well as Elvis, well that's it. I can't take it any more... It's daggers at dawn in the lady garden!

Nickel45 · 27/09/2016 11:23

I think it's fab we all have different opinions and can voice them, it'd be so boring if we all thought the same thing. Clearly we all adore CJ, but that goes without saying, mind you there have been some people on here, on occasion who haven't thought that but then we've mostly ignored them, as they are obviously complete wrong!

icemistOBE · 27/09/2016 11:44

Elvis is very popular on Twitter etc but I think that's more because of LP than the character. Shows how much having less well known actors can work better as I'm sure if the roles were reversed and LP was the Dr everyone would be rooting for him.

MaddieMoo82 · 27/09/2016 12:14

Do you reckon we can keep the thread going for another 2 years?! Hope so! I was a late starter but am fully committed. Hopefully they'll announce another series at the end of this one which will give us hope.
Captain James is real! No one can tell me otherwise Wink

Olliepops05 · 27/09/2016 12:16

I still find it hard to believe that CJ and Elvis are supposedly best friends, Elvis is immature even now whereas CJ is so serious and would of thought CJ would find that irritating. However CJ in this series is definitely less authoritative and chilled.

Really missing the brilliant music too from series 1, there was a trailer for ITV promoting their Autumn Drama's and they were playing one of the tunes from series 1, just makes you smile when you hear it, amazing after all this time it still provokes these good feelings.

Still waiting out and hoping Molly makes a guest appearance.

GloriaGaynor · 27/09/2016 12:38

What was the name of the SAS programme? Would it be on catchup?

A friend of mine's father was in the SAS many moons ago. He's the most lovely guy.

Rhubarb01 · 27/09/2016 13:06

Quick lunchtime pop-in! Gloria the programme was 'Secrets of the SAS' on channel 5 - apparently it was the last of four episodes. They covered stuff on SAS training and selection and also talked to Andy McNab about the Bravo Two Zero true life story.

I admit to being pro-Elvis but am prepared to say there is a bit of Musketeers hang-over involved BUT you are all quite right that I would never put up with what he had did if we were talking Real Life. Thankfully, it is fiction so I'm allowed to think that. At the moment the problem is 'nice' Dr Bland just isn't offering much of an alternative.

OK, I'm off again. Shouldn't be on here. I will just say that next week's RT dropped through the door and yet again there is no write-up for OG's final episode - my goodness they just hate it!

pixieg1rl · 27/09/2016 13:48

Yes ice, I think there would be less sympathy for Elvis if he were plug ugly.

Sorry to drop the tv programme bombshell. Of course it's real. And CJ loves each and every one of us. That should do it

Ilovelblue · 27/09/2016 13:52

.

Phew, thank goodness for that pix.

SoEverybodyDance · 27/09/2016 14:00

I'm glad you were joking Pix... I thought you were... but for a second, you almost got me and I was really worried it wasn't for real after all!

GloriaGaynor · 27/09/2016 14:11

Thanks Rhubarb I will get watching.

Though if anyone has seen the documentary on Andy McNab's claims in Bravo 2 Zero, it rather undermines his credibility.

I'm pro-Elvis too basically because he's fit. I haven't seen the Musketeers, never heard of him before this. I guess that's why I'm peeved that his back story makes him look like such a twat.

Rhubarb01 · 27/09/2016 16:14

Gloria you should try the Musketeers. It is complete bunkum but everyone is highly honourable in it and you have four leads to choose from plus you will not need to worry about the plot at all as it doesn't matter even if woofy would claim that it's the dramatic, dramatisation of the drama that interests her.

Where are you woofy.? You've been quiet this week?

All this

I have no idea where the last two words came from...

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 27/09/2016 16:21

My only peevish comment about the Musketeers is that the editor at the flippin' RT absolutely loved it. Every week there were big write ups and pictures and it really didn't have a great deal of substance - I can't remember a single story line from it I might have been a little too distracted to notice

Just in case I should risk sounding a little shallow - god forbid - I wish to make it known that I have actually watched quite intensely plotted programmes and actually understood them, honestly...the Night Manager was very good Grin

OP posts:
Ilovelblue · 27/09/2016 16:29

Rhu I don't think anyone could accuse you of being shallow!
