No spoilers please re who is/isn't in or at least a spoiler alert!!!

Think I said enough regarding Elvis during the watchalong

Rhubarb01 · 26/09/2016 19:22

To be honest mooj I haven't got a clue what we're talking about with the cast list as what I've seen didn't raise any queries in my mind - the usual spurious conjectures, of course, but no real intel.

Phew,

kazzaD66 · 26/09/2016 19:59

I wish I hadn't said anything now! I didn't mention any names because I didn't want to spoil it for anyone but it's there on the BBC Our Girl website if anyone wants to look. Nowt major (yes, it would be great if Molly made an appearance, even if it was only after the closing credits) but just good to see certain (minor ) old names back, tho' one missing. Apols if I've caused untoward speculation/ angst or whatever Confused

MaddieMoo82 · 26/09/2016 20:03

Thanks ladies. Was a massive overshare and did try to delete it twice last night but the computer said no. Not much point now!! Thanks again.
Looking forward to Wednesday to see how much of the trailer is real/dream sequences and where Mr TG takes us next.
Anyway off to declutter. Im following some weird cleaning/life thing so declutter for 15 minutes everyday. I'm sure it won't last but at the moment it's helping!!

moojangles · 26/09/2016 20:10

kazza you haven't, I've just got a bit of a thing about not knowing in advance, it's very much me!!!!! As I said spoiler alerts are fine with me and I usually disappear on Tues anyway just in case. Have had a very long tense day so may well have been lacking in tact.

In a few moments of idle OG Googling as one does, I suddenly remembered somebody, probably ice, had posted a photo of GL in what looked like a vast hall with pillars etc. Can't think whether she was with Dr Jamie or Elvis. It turned out to be the Cunard Building in Liverpool. So then Ilove starts thinking of the Liver Birds (not the old TV programme, but the statues) and wondered if the heron in the photos GL saw when she broke out of their cell when she and Kicki were held captive could possibly supposed to be one of the Liver Birds - there are a lot of them around Liverpool, not just the ones on the Liver Building.

Some of the other photos though looked like a shopping centre so maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree here.

icemistOBE · 26/09/2016 21:43

BA posted this one, which was Cunard building in Liverpool, also scene where CJ meets Dr Jamie was filmed in Liverpool too. But I believe all the action is in Manchester....
some was filmed in Rochdale too.

I do pass by where last weeks ending was filmed on the tram to work so did hadeca smile to myself as I went past it Smile

I must visit the town hall too to re-enact CJ running across the square in front

icemistOBE · 26/09/2016 21:44

Oh and MK filmed in Fleetwood too

Ilovelblue · 26/09/2016 21:49

I know you mentioned Fleetwood before ice. I can't begin to think why they would want to choose Fleetwood!

Rhubarb01 · 26/09/2016 21:50

I can't think of the word 'googling' anymore without mooj's auto-correct to 'Go Ogling' Grin

I haven't been in a shopping centre oop north for donkey's years ilove so I haven't got a clue about any of that. I am casually watching programme about the SAS at the moment. Interesting as they describe themselves as social psychopaths Hmm. I also took a quick look at the first ten minutes of Episode 1 again - CJ definitely tries a limp up the aisle and when Georgie asks why the person who shall remain nameless has done this to her CJ maintains a very embarrassed looking silence - oh he knew! Actually, I also wondered where the nameless person's family were at the time as they should have been in the room. I also wondered what part his family might have played in any of the story. The prequel made a show of Georgie being taken to a big family lunch and it seemed like one of those close big family units plus later on nameless person also told CJ that they were 'deeply disappointed' by him and I'm not sure he was joking - just saying.

Kazza - I catch your drift now - enough said Smile

A lot of filming locations are down to who is amenable to allowing it to take place. We have quite a lot of filming around here because the local authority are very helpful to film production companies.

Love the deliberate avoidance of a certain person's name. Didn't Georgie say "He's not Voldemort you know, you can mention his name" or something along those lines.

I know what you mean though about that big Italian family lunch and then none of his relatives turning up at the wedding that never was.

I always presumed CJ knew the reason behind Elvis getting cold feet - he looked too shifty when Georgie asked why. I might have studied the prequel a time or two.

Rhubarb01 · 26/09/2016 22:08

There's two words you don't hear together very often - CJ and shifty. The last time he looked like that Smurf was asking for proposal tips!

Are we at St Paul's Girls or sumpin'??

Haha Blush Shock Wink

GloriaGaynor · 26/09/2016 23:15

I'm still pissed off that Elvis (ridiculous name btw) didn't dump Lane for the call of duty. Couldn't it have been something pressing in Syria...

GloriaGaynor · 26/09/2016 23:18

We could have had an American stylee conscience tussle between serving your country and the love of your life...

Instead we've got bogstandard fuckwittage.

Nickel45 · 26/09/2016 23:19

Completely off the wall here, and back to S1, but just watched the last ep of Sherlock from January 2014 (yes, taken me a while, I know,). Anyway, at the end of the credits, Moriaty pops up with the words "miss me?" 9 months before OG Just putting it out there ....

Rhubarb01 · 26/09/2016 23:55

Gloria I hear the point you are making and you'll definitely have company on here as quite a few aren't keen on the Elvis 'story'. The only serious point I can make in it's favour is that I don't think dramatically it would have worked otherwise. Elvis was only likely to get sent off on a mission the day before his wedding if he was the only person in the British army with the particular skills for a job - sounds a bit James Bond doesn't it "We need a Billy Big Bollocks and you fit the bill!". I suppose it had to be a something personal he couldn't tell GL - boring but the most believable reason. Sorry.

I was thinking about Elvis and him not letting Georgie know about the baby. Maybe Debs turned up on the morning of his wedding with the baby and told him he had to choose between his daughter or Georgie, this was Debs way of getting revenge at being dumped for Georgie. Elvis decides to do what he sees as the right thing and picks his daughter, although he is genuinely in love with Georgie. CJ said to him at the hotel that he had made his decision, but the then Elvis said that maybe he had made the wrong one.His family are disappointed in him because he does not want to marry Debs and be a proper family unit.

With the how come Abu wasn't and the house when the air strike happened. When they were looking at pictures, they were standing at the back and of the truck looking at a screen, so maybe they hadn't set off at that point and by the time they had got there and had seen the leader going in, he could have already left.

Ilovelblue · 27/09/2016 08:15

Heli it seems great coincidence to turn up on the morning of your ex's wedding with a baby. I think she's been stalking him and this is her revenge. Elvis told Georgie Debs didn't say she was pregnant because she knew he loved Georgie but then to turn up on the doorstep....? Hmmm. We know he has a Facebook account, it wouldn't be difficult. (In reality though I'm not convinced anyone in the SAS would be encouraged to indulge in social media).

Rhubarb01 · 27/09/2016 08:29

Morning! The plot thickens...I love it Grin

I reckon there could have been family pressure involved - large, traditional Italian family values and yes, heli he probably has disappointed them. He has also talked about 'duty' quite a few times, particularly to Georgie "We do our duty" and how it's his 'duty' to mend her broken heart. The idea of doing what you ought to do over what you want might well have been ingrained in him by family...

As for Debs, yes, I'm liking the idea of a 'bunny boiler' - there has to be something to redeem 'poor' old love-lorn Elvis - and yes I do find his name a bit strange Gloria but have wondered if it was a nickname!

OK I'm am off. Have a good day all!

Rhubarb01 · 27/09/2016 08:31

...just one thing re: Abu - sorry I much prefer the idea that he was on the loo at the time of the air strike Grin

pixieg1rl · 27/09/2016 08:59

I think the only flaw in that Heli is the idea that Elvis could genuinely be in love with anyone other than himself.

Maybe we will learn a little about what happened directly after the wedding that never was in the next episode. But going on what we've seen so far either Georgie cut off all contact with him or he never got in touch to explain.

pixieg1rl · 27/09/2016 09:04

Apparently Elvis came from TG meeting a SF guy whose nickname was Elvis on account of his surname being Presley.

I love how you're all trying to redeem him. I fear he's just a selfish prick with a pretty face
